Yeah, sorry meant to click reply not quote, but trying to do 10 things at once here ... Still not coming up when I go to Filefront, I get to the "Download from our servers bit" click on that and wait - nothing. And it doesnt appear in the addons directory either. I must be having issues with Filefront. I downloaded the update anyway, and am re-pbo'ing it, taking its precious time tho....

Such a lovely Lady... I PM'd the response. Thanks again!

Not sure here, but you mean v5 of the mission on the new version of the Afghanistan Map? or v5 on the original version of the Map? I'm glad it was so easy to fix, and glad you're so knowledgable, that kind of thing would probably have taken me another half a day to sort . I'll download the new version of the Afghani map soon, and give it a full run through, never know, looks like a very different version, and it may cause problems elsewhere later on in the mission. Wanna go play some Invasion 1944 right now though. But if it all goes well, and looks ok, any problems me sending you an updated .zip like before? I may tweak one or two pieces when I update.

Cool! Thx. Taking ages to download ( crappy 128k connection ), good to know I'm not wasting my time ... can I use the SP mission from the Mini-Demo still?
-
Hi Avon. Is this the new version of the map you're talking about? ( I assume so... ) It'll take me a while to download the new version ( downloading 90Mb-ish of Invasion 1944 stuff ATM ) on my 128k. The only worry I have is fiddling around with the chopper landing, and another version of the map getting released and me having to do it all again... and again ... you get the idea.

Checked the site. Now they have a zip file with only the Addons, and none of the missions. Which is good, but I've certainly had enough mission editing for today at least. Though looking back through the posts in this thread, it appears theres a link to the demo .exe that they originally posted. Im downloading both now, and gonna see if I can pull the mission files out of the .exe and get them to work together. My chances ... ?

You discovered my secret X-Files type hidden mission! ( they were deleted to reduce lag, just wanted to give the impression at the start of the different units going on simultaneous actions ... ) Can you imagine how it would look if you were on Land though, a Chinook suddenly vanishing and all its passengers falling to a watery death!

I thought about making them SP compatible but theres probably too much involved making them playable. I designed them for at least 4 players online and wrote them to encourage teamwork, and at least 2 out of the 4 missions require the kind of timing/co-operation which is simply beyond the AI. e.g1 - Mission1 - You cant get AI to get in a 2nd chopper and land at the other side of Lipany, I suppose I could do it with more fancy scripts etc, but after the 10 Hour marathon just getting the Littlebirds to land in "Hero" I dont really fancy it. e.g2 - Mission2 - Attacking the convoy really requires good timing, and someone also to maybe do some running back and forth with more ammo while the others set up the first ambush. I tried ordering the AI to do key tasks, but they just weren't up to it. Issues with making it SP - AI wont land choppers without lots of scripting, which would take away the sense of freedom I wanted to add. AI have serious problems with shooting at Choppers ( a vital part of completing 2 of the missions ) AI are too slow on Bikes. I know making it SP would open it to more people, but I wanted to make something fun for people that like to play online ( and my real reason in writing them was to try and convince my favourite server admin to add the BAS Add-ons - he complained there weren't enough Co-Op missions ... ). I have other ideas for SP missions, so I'd rather spend the time on finishing this Co-op pack, and working on new projects, rather than converting this one. And lastly, they are kind of playable with the AI in Co-op mode, just requires the player to do a lot more work on his own while the AI stand around and look pretty in their lovely BAS uniforms!

Edit - removed No Music version

After playing through twice last night, new improved version now available. Beta v.2: Edit - Link removed. Improvements : Mission 1 -Tanks less deadly ( they were far too evil ) -Landing Zone moved further back for safety ( though anything other than a low stealthy approach will likely get you killed ) Mission 2 -Convoy takes longer, giving players more time to set up Ambush. Mission 3 - Waypoints added for Non-Map reading people. Â - Surprise attack happens later, Â gives players some time to regroup, but still no time to prepare! Â - Sniper stays in position. ( not telling! Â ) - Removed Squad that crosses bridge at same time as Tanks, killing them on bridge would stop the tanks crossing. Mission 4 - Removed a lot of Uniits from End Sequence and reduced amount of Artillery to reduce Lag/Slowdown. - Improved Effects.

Edit - removed old links.

Great Feedback Avon Lady. Thanks! Now I'm gonna have to redo it arent I? Shouldn't take too long, though any advice on how to speed up the Upload process somewhere would be great, I'd host it myself but don't have the bandwidth. Responses: 1. Don't want to ruin my "Valley of Death" experience, but I guess making them less accurate won't hurt too much. 2. Long story, Ash's T55 isnt even used in the mission.... easy to remove. 3. Yeah, I love them, might reduce their armour, as the easiest way to beat them is to destroy them rather than shoot at the 2nd man who won't die! 4. I was just learning Objectives/Triggers at that point, easy to redo and makes much more sense! 5. Mmmmm.... its hard to set up that base while taking into consideration the different approaches players will make to it... I'd used a different Hostage/Rescue setup which needed him stood there, I changed it later but didnt redo the base. 6. Agreed. 7. Roger! 8. Not sure how I'd do that, and I struggled working out how to get the Outro to show the right number of Troops left, so I made it like that just to show you and John returning to base .... the other AI went off on a Leaflet dropping exercise 9. ... 10. Never noticed the sound, and I do have them landing or so I thought, obviously thats not working though, easy enough to delete them. 11. Ok. 12. I've just started looking at more complicated briefings for the Co-ops Im working on now, I agree it does need a better one with Links etc... Heck. I was hoping I was done with that one, but the improvements are all good ideas. Thanks for taking the time to play it through.

Wow! Thanks a lot Avon Lady, what a Star! I struggled getting it uploaded to sites ( recently had to downgrade to 128k connection, I'd forgotten just how slow the internet can seem ... ), spent literally half a day doing so. The thought of all that again just didn't appeal. Though I've not been idling since, I've got 3 of 4 Co-op missions I'm working on complete, this time only using the BAS addons ( barring any rogue addons sneaking their way in... ). With a truly explosive ending, should be ready in a couple of days. Have you finished the mission yet? About those Snipers... I wanted to try and give the impression of being stuck in an impossible situation, I was going to make it a lot worse, but I'm a kind soul really at the end of the day, and you do have 9 Medics with you

... And I even tested it with all Addons removed except the ones its supposed to have. I have no idea what the m2f.pbo is? I've checked every object in the editor, and none of them seem out of the ordinary...and a Google search came out blank. I dont even know where it came from or who .... Guess I'll just have to host the file, as I dont want to have to go through uploading the whole mission again... http://quake3.barrysworld.net/poet/m2f.zip . Thx again tho Avon.
-
Thanks Sinister! And thanks for the testing help and advice ( a helpful voice in a sea of quiet! ). You probably added the best bits Could have tested it some more, but I get impatient with these things, and always want to be doing the next thing ... I'm already half way through a new Mini 4-Mission Co-op Campaign thingy... Though Im making it with only BAS addons required .... Im still working out how to have Artillery/Mortar strikes without having any Arty/Mortar Models .... Maybe I'll give the Enemy some Artillery Pixie Dust ...

Well, if you were lucky enough to get a copy of this cool map ( or managed to find it on the Russian Site ), might want to have a bash at this simple mission I knocked together : http://quake3.barrysworld.net/poet/AfghaniRaiders.zip Requires : Resistance 1.90+ BAS Delta/Rangers ( of course ) BAS LittleBird UCE Middle-East Resistance T55 East by Ash and the Afghanistan Island Beta. ( links in the Readme ) Its my 1st mission, nothing fancy, but I had a lot of fun with it. Â Single Player and Co-op available.
-
Nice, the more Missions using these addons the better. The Link to the MT-LB 2.1 on your site was busted tho. But searching through Google I found a link to mt-lb22 on your site ( 15mb!!! that better be a fantastic addon at that size! ). Downloading now ....

I have the same problem, trying to get my mates to play. I'd say one of the biggest problems is the way OFP is sold and marketed. Quite a few of them have gone out and bought OFP 2nd hand, looked at the graphics of the old version, opened up AllSeeingEye, saw that there were only 50 or less servers, with fairly poor online play and decided its not worth it. What they dont see is that the Resistance upgrade vastly improves graphics and netcode, making OFP a much better game. They simply arent aware. Why pay Å35-Å40 for the GOTY edition, when you can pick up OFP 2nd hand for Å10? If Resistance had been sold as a stand alone game we would have a hell of a lot more players these days IMO. BIS could have sold it as a Stand Alone package for newcomers to OFP, and a cheaper expansion pack version for people who had the original. Though theyd have to work out some way to include the orignal campaign to teach the newcomers how to play/use vehicles/command troops etc, maybe remake the campaign or a slimmed down version for the new Island. I think BIS missed a big Trick here, Resistance was more than just an expansion pack, it was a massive upgrade to the whole game and engine. I know one guy who bought the GOTY edition, launched the old version of OFP, took one look at the graphics and server numbers and took the game back to the shop the same day. I asked him if he looked at the Resistance version in the same package, and he hadnt bothered, he wasnt aware of the huge difference. Though it also has to be said that there are a large number of people out there who will never like this game, its just too complicated for them. All they want to do is turn on their PC, launch their Server browser, join a game, and just run around killing stuff. Tactics and realism have no place for these people. My best friend is one of them, I built his machine and installed 20+ games. He plays one : The Desert Combat Mod for Battlefield1942 because it requires very little thought or advanced knowledge to play. I know one guy who took the game back to the shop because he couldnt bind the movements/actions to the same keys he uses in Quake!!!!

Likfe yourself I recently got back into OFP after a fairly lengthy abscence ( Tour of Duty on many Quake3 servers ). There is an awesome set of addons by Ballistic Addon Studios with US Rangers and Delta Force Ops with weapons etc. This also has a few demo missions which are all excellent, and the teams mission maker Nagual has converted his fantastic Special Ops campaign to make use of these killer addons. Addons available here : http://www.concept-5.com/ballistic/ More details here : http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=27223 Very helpful Stuff here : http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/mom/basdelran.htm ( Ignore any US Government propoganda that may assault you here ) And the latest version of the modded campaign is here : http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....61;st=0 Also, 2 very good campaigns that I have played were by Sam Samson available here : http://home.debitel.net/user/gehoinle/SWoT/index.html Have fun.

Lo. I have OFP, Gold and OFP:R ( lucky me ), and I've got them installed and working fine and patched up to date 1.90 ( cause my favourite server is still 1.90 ). I've also got plenty of addons and quite a few usermade missions and campaigns. The problem I am having is figuring out what Missions and games I can play under the old OFP 1.46. I installed OFP GOTY Edition on my friends PC and he has 2 handy shortcuts and has no problems running either 1.90 or 1.46. I sadly cant say the same. There are some missions I'd like to play that are for 1.46 only, and when I try and launch OFP from the old shortcut on my version I get "Editor Upgrade requires OFPR 1.75", and if I remove it I then get other errors. OK, I'm rambling and even losing myself here. Sorry. What Im asking is, is it possible to have an OFP>Gold>Resistance install and run both 1.91 and 1.46 without any problems, and whats the best way to go about it. Any help would be appreciated

Heck! 10 minutes and I get 2 OFP Luminaries answering my questions ( /me feels really special now )! I always wondered why there was a seperate Res/Addons folder ( Doh! ). Well dont I feel silly now. But joyous as I run off to go play all those killer missions that have eluded me til now. Thanks a lot guys.

Made a quick Night Special Ops mission, similar to the one in the 1985 campaign, where you have to use satchels to take out 2 tanks, one stationary and one patrolling nearby with a couple of foot patrols. So I crawl towards the stationary tank, place my satchel charge, put one on the road for the patrolling one. As I was making my way out of there through the bushes, I suddenly see 2 enemy soldiers literally inches to my right, and as I'm prone I wait with Bizon to see if they walk past. One of them stops, so I open fire and quickly take them both down. But then I hear the Stationary Tank's turret turn, and look in my direction. You can imagine my heart is hammering in my chest right at that moment. A seeming eternity passes with its Gun pointing right at me, but I remained perfectly still, hoping it wouldnt see me. Sweat pouring out of my hands. All of a sudden, I hear a little "click" noise, and the sky explodes with light. The tank had fired up a flare. My heart stopped. 2 squirts from its guns and of course I'm dead. Scared the living crap outta me that one.

1. Invisible Gruba and Natasha in 1985 Campaign after installing OFPR. 2. If you accidentally dismount as Tank Commander, the AI keeps going round in circles, and won't stop, meaning you get run over trying to remount. 3. AI have ZERO brains of their own, and since Resistance sees you mostly in command ( rather than Lone Grunt - which I personally prefer ) missions gdet tedious and repetitive, trying to get them to follow orders. And well, I'm glad I don't share the roads with them, cause not one can drive. And a wierd one, not sure if this is system specific or game related, but if I am playing for a while, and pause a mission, when I unpause, everything is running at double speed or faster, its quite funny watching the AI sprint and you can cover huge distances in a v.short space of time, but I'm fairly sure its not a good thing. I've not seen anyone else post about this one, so could be my box...
