Absolutely there are some features missing/incorrectly modeled on the stock BIS Stryker MGS. For the most part everything you mentioned is addressed in ACE2, save for the effects of firing the M68 on the suspension.

I think I changed something or possibly a bug ?
Jack replied to Ddave_73's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
You can with ACE2. -
I have attempted to beat this mission numerous times to no avail. My efforts have included: 1. Changing difficulty levels 2. Accomplishing objectives in different orders 3. Not saving/saving the POWs It feels, to be honest, like Manhattan did before ArmA2 was patched. Each time I accomplish all objectives the mission doesn't end. This happens in both single player and when hosted in multiplayer. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? ---------- Post added at 04:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:52 AM ---------- Well I finally "beat" the mission. It seems that much like "Open Season" the mission won't end until you fail,

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Jack replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
It seems that most of the arguments for gear that isn't currently used by the BAF return to "it will totally be used in the future, bro!" (2 years from now). Which is fine, even if current service members speak of contracts with rival manufacturers that preclude the possibility of certain items being used for 4+ years. More importantly though, I am completely for developers creating their own unique games and fully utilizing their creative license to make a fun and interesting game environment. It's very important for developers to not be bogged down with concerns about 100% authenticity in everything they do - even in a game thats essentially an infantry/combined arms simulation. Which is why I was surprised when this irked me so much... -
Downloading it now, hope its as good as the one from the HL1/goldsrc years.

And videos talking about weapons that "kill you before you pull the trigger." What a joke. -

I absolutely agree, zoog. This is why I will purchase A2:BAF and will continue to support BIS as long as they support their community. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Jack replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
While I understand that you're trying to make something new and refreshing, the least you could do is add units with accurate loadouts in addition to the units you're producing for A2:BAF. I say its the least you could do because you're charging me $10 for a package of addons. Might as well be some proper ones in there, even if they're not in the main campaign. -
For anyone else thats interested, I've been seriously considering moving to another state due to the communist gun laws in New York; so I decided to not only take into consideration what I want in a house but also the gun legislation in a particular state. The first link I found that was of great help was from (where else) wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_(by_state) If you look through them all, Vermont seems to be by far the least restrictive. You can, for example, own a pistol and carry it concealed without a permit in VT. Seemed like the perfect state... until I read that you can't own a suppressor in VT :( Seems like the only state that has Vermont's laws and you can own a suppressor is... Alaska! So its a tossup between Alaska and Vermont... thoughts? suggestions? Any other states that might work?

RH M14 pack 1.0 for OA / CO
Jack replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Excellent. Hope ACE picks these up soon. -
This video pretty much sums up why I think everyone should be proficient and familiar with all types of firearms. Responsibility and safe firearm handling taught at a young age would do many people a whole world of good :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dE4UgY7lgI

I'm disappointed you think that, since I layed out several facts in that post :( Have you ever fired a gun with suppressor on it in your lifetime of shooting experience? I will agree that for those that can join the military that is a viable option, but unfortunately for me I am disqualified (dependent on prescription medicine) from joining any of the armed forces in the United States. It really sucks, especially when I hear about all the fun my friends are having... some of the time. Most of the time people not in line units/deployed are using the mark 1 broomstick :o. Its not that either of those types of weapons are denied (AR15/AK47) it's the pointless and frustrating restrictions that are on them in NY and other states that really bothers me; e.g. you can't legally own a weapon with a retractable butt stock, <16" barrel etc.. Cool, how long did you do repo work? I'm sure you could see how it could quickly become a problem if it was one angry dude with a weapon that was mentally instable and/or intoxicated. Sure you could run away thats always the best option - but what if you're in the middle of attaching the car/truck/boat to your tow truck? Better to be prepared for the worst IMO. Definitely. The only problem is the effect of select fire weapons on one's wallet haha. You can actually own automatic weapons in the United States but the ease of obtaining it and state legislation again makes things different on a state to state basis. In NY it is completely impossible to obtain a select fire weapon unless you're a member of Law Enforcement. Two states over I need only pay a $200 transfer tax and get a signature from a police chief and I have an MG42.

There is already a bug report about this on the ArmA2 Community Issue Tracker (CIT). Here is the link: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/11588

Anyone who has gone through an 8th grade history class in 'mericuh knows what a communist is. I was using the term as a form of hyperbole... I never said that I intended to carry a concealed weapon, I was merely pointing out that carrying a weapon without a permit is allowed in some states - and those states have less restrictive gun laws than others. But for the sake of argument here is one good reason: The ability to protect oneself against aggressors, especially at the workplace (very useful for people who repossess cars for example). A silenced firearm is eminently more enjoyable to shoot than one without a suppressor. Shooters are able to concentrate more on breath control and trigger pull when they are not subjected to the fatigue and distraction of a loud, bright, muzzle blast. Beginning shooters are typically not intimidated when introduced to the shooting sports with a silenced firearm, and are able to easily hear instructions given to them by trainers since hearing protection is no longer needed. Silenced firearms are also less likely to disturb any people, livestock, or wildlife that may be in close proximity to where you shoot. Criminals will always be able to obtain guns if they want and indeed need them to carry out whatever violent act they intend to commit. Gun legislation that restricts the use of firearms is absurd and does nothing but frustrate law abiding people who shoot for recreational purposes. And again I was using the term "communist" in jest. By the way I also have a Mossberg 590 :). I love it to death but I may sell it soon for an Arsenal SGL21 or 31.

Best Page File Settings for Arma2/OA

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Jack replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
You'll get away with it at low/normal settings. -
Very cool!

Thanks for the prompt response. I actually edited the original cipher with ACE vehicles and weapons in a similar way - it made for quite the fun mission. However the reason I point this out is for people who may not want to unpbo/edit mission files and just want their 10 people to fit in two vehicles :P

Crash to desktop issue, PC specs too low?
Jack replied to Marine52187's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Your main issue is lack of sufficient processing power and physical memory. The graphics card is more than enough to run ArmA2 at minimal settings but again what you should consider upgrading is your RAM and CPU. That pentium 4 model runs on socket LGA775 motherboards which (depending on the model) could potentially support a quad core like the Q6600. Did you download and install cpu-z? What does it say on the "Mainboard" tab/motherboard section? -
Great to see this mission in OA. One minor problem is that setting the "player vehicles" setting in paramters to "offroad, medium armed" results in two vehicles that won't fit all 10 players. EDIT: When it spawns the CROWS HMMWV and the other Offroad Special one. That's when the total capacity is 9, due to the HMMWV CROWS only holding 4.

This is actually the same ending that I experienced. Rather anti-climactic but still a fun campaign.

Make Squad AI Smarter?
Jack replied to Toasticuss's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
You could create a trigger that sends the AI into "Aware" mode when the chopper is within a certain distance. Or you could give them no target and force them into aware mode if you're leading the group. -
If you're hosting you can only slot in as the player you would be if you were playing the SP campaign. However I found that after I started a mission and selected "Restart" I could deslot and select someone else.

OA Campaign: 07 "Eye of the Typhoon"
Jack replied to Jack's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Yeah that's what was really frustrating for me too. After I finally failed the two major objectives I won (or at least the mission completed), which was kind of surprising.
