    Blastcore: Phoenix 2

Yea i think this is what happened cause before it updated, because im using a heavy modified game it pooped a message up saying something like xxx failed to validate try reinstalling the bla. So i must have clicked delete local content and redownloaded the game cause it took ages and everything in the folder got nuked i thought it would only affect BI content not my custom files & folders. But anyway dont worry guys, theres been no loss of the mod files or any of its data, the folders get backed up everytime they are modifed elsewhere. Just shocked to find that it all vanished cause i had the game setup how i liked it. Now its like removed everyone elses mods and im gonna have to download them again. Id be very wary about that delete local content as it seems to just remove everything not unstall the game files and leaves other custom files intact. Anyone else might not be so lucky and if they don't backup the custom files they have then it could be very upsetting.

No theres no loss of data. But i don't like it when im in the middle of doing something and my entire A3 directory gets deleted and created again because of a update, i now have to use a recovery tool to get my work back.

    Alien: Isolation

Well ive come to point now where im no longer interested in playing the game anymore due to style of gameplay of the high repeated dying over and over, having to return to the savepoint and replay the same area over and over again doing the same things over and over again lol, sometimes its 5-6 times. All immersion in the game is utterly lost now, any feeling of being frightened of the Alien has gone out the window, its far too much there in your face onscreen its like Booo BOOO BOOOO nar your not scaring me anymore sorry your just fucking irritating. Its a shame cause the game started really well but it gets boring and frustrating REAL fast after few hours in. And after hearing that the game lasts for 20hrs something im now just like faaak that im bored and have lost interest after half that time. Can't believe people are chomping this up like its the best game in video history overall my impressions was awesome but now i feel its a pretty weak ass game..

    Alien: Isolation

Its alright, but its getting frustrated at where i am, first i was proper into it scared the shit outta me a few times but then the fear factor was replaced by utter frustration the fear factor for me has faded down big time because the design of the save system just takes the piss really, i spent ages doing one part almost an hour into this one bit and sneaking about scared to move and taking everything with utter stealth in mind only to be killed because i tried to make a dash for the next room and the Alien got me, so i had to start from the last save point which was quite far behind, so ok my fault start again. Then i did everything again the alien got me whilst i was hiding, start again, then the alien cheated and ripped the door open on the hiding spot i was even tho i was leaning back and holding my breath so start again sign.... After each attempt this is where it started to fail big time for me, cause i don't want to do the same task over and over it ruins the experience, read comp, get keycards again do do dooo do because for me i rapidly lose the stealthly approach and this then just gets replaced with angry playing mode where you try and do the task quicker trying to get back where you were. I did infact just take the piss and insted of hiding just keep moving and ducking and i got to the same point i was in the first place in like 3mins insted of like 30mins all the time i wasnt scared or fear and the words infront of the screen from before like oh shiiit, were now just fo please ffs and insted of crawling thru vents and hiding in cuboards, now i just die repeat die repeat till i get to where i was, and this is because the savesystem fails hard. They should have done it so when you reach the next task like get to a computer and retrieve the code you need SAVED, go to the next room whilst dodging the alien and sneaking about and get the keycode SAVED. checkpoint systems have always sucked really cause it forces the player to do the same thing all over again when they died and this ruins the play experience / immersion, and the savepoint system is just as annoying because you end up running to and from the save point. Could have just said you get 3 saves that you can use, so when you do get past a tricky point you can save it and when you are outta saves your only hope is the last save. But oh well But apart from that its still a good game but ive had to stop playing for the moment because its getting rather boring and repeative.

13€ DLC, hefty price for 2 choppers

Not interested, BI are just like any other developer. 1. Ignore issues surrounding the game, can't be fcuked.. 2. Ignore features requested by the community, can't be bothered.. 3. Milk the community with useless DLC packs..

Can a mod make the Arma 3 engine run smoother?

Yea sorry i didnt mean to make it sound that the AI are purely based on the FSM, but if the other elements of the AI settings are hardcoded its really no good to us. I tried everything config related to increase the performance but its was slight, i expected that by limiting the amount the AI will search for cover and failing to do so, which results in the same action being repeated must use resources which are unnecessary? insted moving onto a different action which does have a positive outcome should surely free them up from getting stuck in same routine. Im pretty sure when i did make the changes to the FSM and used heavy modified config files that the game ran smoother with more AI. One of the issues was the AI was bit rambo.

Can a mod make the Arma 3 engine run smoother?

Yeh this is for individual units, im not sure how the squad level works. I only worked on the single unit types at first. Theres more info here about it https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/FSM

Can a mod make the Arma 3 engine run smoother?

Just some input on the way the AI works in ArmA, basicly the AI is operated by a FSM which runs all the time basicly in a loop which in its sleep state uses low resources because its not doing much. Unless something happens, when something happens, actions get activated its now computing what to do next, so it uses more resources obv, the FSM then tells the AI to choose what to do based on set conditions involved. So basicly a simple setup would be like this AI walking along like normal and gets shot at, FSM detects its under fire based on values in the config files, and instructs the AI to do something in response. The AI then chooses the action desired based on set variables such as is the enemy in range? Yes. Possible Actions Action = Shoot back Action = Knows of enemy location, but cannot engage (out of range) > Find Cover > Flank Enemy > Engage More possible Actions based on for example "out of range, cannot engage enemy" Possible Actions: Action = Flank (Based on cfg variables "courage") Action = Retreat > same as above if the "courage" variable is low it will retreat more often etc. Action = Find Cover > This is one of the problems i found when modding the AI FSM, because it results in them running around looking for cover nearby which is ok, its the most logical thing to do. However its flawed because once the AI has reached cover it will then look for something else to do, once it has completed that command, which the FSM then directs the AI back onto the question of "can it engage the enemy" if the answer is again "No" the FSM will then do the Possible Actions as listed above, sometimes the AI will pick the same action twice like "Find Cover" which is why the AI sometimes gets up out of random and will move to another cover spot because thats what it has chosen to do for that scenario because certain conditions were not met. Sometimes the AI will get lost in this action over and over again constantly using resources trying to find a solution to the scenario it faces. Now when this .FSM runs in a sleep state like not much happening the AI is just using very limited resources. Which is why you can have many AI's in the map not doing anything just following waypoints etc. When its faced with actions thats when it starts to use more resources because its working more making decisions on what to do. As stated above it can get confused and lost in what its supposed to do. I have tested this with my own private modded AI where they use a modified FSM and this limits the AI in finding cover, and directs them to other actions rather than running the same one again. The goal of this was to ease the resources on the actions the AI takes, providing them with a solution to an action which cannot be met, insted of being instructed to go back home and start again. With the changes i made the FPS did infact increase under combat conditions, the AI were not occuiped with finding cover and getting stuck in a loop, and insted engaging the enemy was given a higher priority, the result was interesting the AI were a lot more aggressive in their tactics to attack and engage targets. But like most of my work i have not had time to finish this mod off, which i started making back in A2, because its the way its implemented uses other aspects of my private mods ive made which include weapon configs, animation changes and other mods related to core changes in the games design. Maybe one day i can finish off the rest of the mods but im currently maxed out on the visual fx atm. So answer to the OP, yes its possible that you can make more FPS by changing things but its mostly experimental and can cause issues. And one thing will not always work without the other.

    Blastcore: Phoenix 2

It won't require blastcore at all, all the effects generated will be using original content from the game. They are scripted, and are activated thru a Game Logic or Triggered Event.

    Blastcore: Phoenix 2

Nar its ok, i learnt some things anyway. I needed to find out something before i carried on with the other effects. But mostly its about particle emitters being placed in the map, which will give mission makers the ability to create their own atmosphere. These include effects like huge oil fires, tracers, distant explosion effects, artillery lighting up night sky that sorta of stuff. These won't do any damage and will be mostly be quite basic in detail so they will use very low resources. One of these effects includes a thunderstorm where the clouds are lit up and look quites cool..
