  1. after speaking to a very competant coder for advice (thanks SickBoy) we will be making slight alterations to the mod shortly and not long after hopefully it will be re-released as a fixed version (bullet cracks and ricochets are on the agenda) so we will be addressing several issues that you the community have brought to our attention thanks to all who have given feedback it is appreciated all the best ONI AACFSOUND mod Coordinator

    Squad XML's

    question is pilliage mate where is it hosted ...if its hosted oversea's (i know your an aussie) a lot of the aussie servers block OS XML's i dont know why its just the admins S.O.P.'s that they dont allow outside australian hosting for the xml's if you would like to speak to aussie dave he might be able to set up a local xml hosting for you and see if that helps i personally dont agree with XML blocking but not up to me mate( we had to move our xml hosting to local due to it) anyways give that a try all the best ONI
  3. yeah, i figured that out pretty quickly, but that particular sound is always 4 cracks, so it sounds like a woodpecker.. and the shots fired are not even close to me.. it can be fired from a chopper 1km away at a target 300m away from me and i still hear 4 cracks (allways 4 cracks, no more, no less) yeah even at 10km's away in real life you will hear rifle cracks and shelling impacts and this is what we have done to replicate that sorry if its a little annoying but think about the poor bastards who are actually hearing this night and day in real life they dont get a repreive they just get told harden the F**k up princess and soldier on and being ex aussie military i know that first hand lol edit : looking into fixing the ricochet's at the moment need to talk to the rest of the lads as to what lelvels are going to be the best will let you all know the outcome all the best ONI
  4. thanks for the mirror mate its appreciated as far as updates to the mod soon we are actually taking a few weeks off due to working on this for 4-6 months now so after that we will take all suggestions into consideration and look at a possible update but as we arent professional coders may take a little while and as far as messing with the range and balistics of the rpg its a sound mod not a balistics mod maybe you can get someone to look at that norailgunner but we wont be playing with the effective ranges and balistics of the weapons but thanks for the suggestion anyways all the best ONI
  5. hey SnR mate  the sounds for the trucks were actually taken from the real deal and the high pitch noise you might be hearing is the engine noises ascosciated with them having a turbo attached apparently but i myself had to see the footage myself to see it was from the trucks in question and as far as the hummer sounds it was the clearest sound we could find for it not an easy sound to find i can tell you that isnt garbled with someone talking over it or the sounds being distorted anyways i hope your all enjoying the mod as we are thanks for the feedback edit :with the ffars we tried and tried to come up with a solution to the issue we are having with them not producing the firing sound when in the chopper (pilot cant hear the firing of the rockets) but i checked today and i could actually hear the rockets being fired from the choppers when i was under one firing them so the issue isnt so much with the sound mod but so much as an issue with the sound dampener that was placed in the beta patch so we are looking for a solution but at this stage have no answers if anyone has an idea on how to fix this please contact me here or via pm the help would be appreciated imensely
  6. we had the gau8 nastier and even had a 'fart' sound for it but the sounds distorted and overmodulated especially when fired in long bursts so we had to smarten it up slightly and as far as the engines on the choppers and aircraft you have to admit they are the most realistic ones currently available we spent 6 months fine tuning our engine sounds and weapon sounds for this update so this is the best we have been able to produce with the techknowledgy and equipment we have so i think we did a bloody good job under the circumstances lol anyways glad your enjoying the mod all the best ONI

  9. Fromz actually used some of our sounds in his latest version of his sound mod for example the M240 is one of our sounds and was recently improved upon in this version edit : btw thanks for the mirror and the plug fox much appreciated
  10. so you know the mod was designed in 1.09 so there might be some slight differences if you are using 1.08 unfortunate for some we wont be making it backwards compatable sorry guys but all the servers we play on are 1.09 beta anyways

  12. woodpecker...?? news to me lol ahh i think your hearing the bullet cracks that are heard at differing distances as bullets pass by at different ranges breaking the sound barrier you will most of the time hear the crack as we have replicated that in the mod

    Arma battleye support for 1.09beta

    we have noticed since the latest update of the BE software little lag spikes have been occuring on the server and players indiscriminantly being kicked for loosing connection to the battleye server this may happen anywhere from 10 to 50 times in a game session for most if not all players and can be quite anoying if not frustrating for some of them now none of the other servers on the box are having this issue infact are running beautifully and all updated to 1.09beta(love the update btw) i myself have had about 5 or 6 such disconnections in one session last night while playing evolution blue and the servers are on a high end server box with a fiber optic connection so the system shouldnt be causing it we think its possibly with the battleye itself  ...any ideas or solutions?

    Pingu's claymores

    i do agree with jimbo a little over done for a 40mm launched grenade but for a 66mm rocket or a m136 perfect good crump sounds but i dont know if thats to do with the sound mod you are using or if you have embeded the sounds yourself however the only changes with pingu's smoke effects is they need to linger longer is all there is enough smoke it just doesnt hang in the air long enough thats his only issue
  20. one sound that i dont like is the burst fire sound when you 20 or so meters away from a freind and they are clearly firing only single shot ...i know this is meant to be a distant sound but a little realism wouldnt hurt where it counts single shots for single burst for burst and full auto for full auto thats my only thing i have found other than a few sounds are rather flat and without deapth other than that fromz mate good work your raising the bar another notch
  21. it is possible my freind just you have a different sound load at differing distances (like lod's for models) the thing is having a scripter that can do it and at this stage fromz is the only person attempting it so in time i believe he will perfect it but as anyone can say its down to the personal choice of the maker and if they believe their sounds are realistic on the day then for them they are as real as they want them its up to the community to say hey i dont like this aspect or that aspect or could you increase this volume or quieten that volume ...could this have more treble or bass with community help a lot of the sound mods are improving but as with all of them they are the interpretation of one persons veiw of the battlefield and unless you have truely been on a battlefield well how can they be judged as really on the money or not in my opinion they all have good and bad points some less than others but lets keep encouraging the sound designers and keep these mods improving
  22. we had the same problem with the AACF sound mod last year there was a missunderstanding due to some of our sounds being very close to some in chammy's sound mod and there were some heated discussions  simply because the sounds came from the same samples now unless you have gone out and recorded the sound yourself from actual live fires in my opinion you have no right to claim a sound as yours( which i have done for the AAW steyr pack i went out and recorded live fire of the steyr and sampled it and made it workable in arma that is my sound and i can say that cause i went and recorded it live) if you say you have copywrited your sound packs lads you cant there is no jurisdiction for it and i can see if people are gonna play that card then well you might aswell be paying all the people on youtube and all the recordists that have supplied umpteen thousand sound files freely available on the web cause they are the suppliers of the sounds you so easily copywrited  and say hey these are my sound hands off all i can say is grow up  and grow a pair and fromz mate great guns keep up the great work

    Pingu's claymores

    Finally pingu great to see you on the forums (now everyone can direct their questions at you lol) nah seriously mate well done im getting a lot of pm's requesting the usage of the claymores in thier mods if you could direct your requests to pingu it would be much appreciated as he is the creator of the addon i just posted its release in his abscence.

    the only sounds i remember of the shrap and debris was it hitting the ground and those sounds are in just with several claymores going off you arent going to hear much at this point lads your idea's are being looked at in the end its all up to pingu and how he wants to progress with the addon as this has gone into more deapth than any other claymore addon thus far so i think he deserves kudos just for that thanks mate

    this mod was made in 1.09 old bear and thanks rail for the tabulated data we used the aussie tab data for ours and in my opinion the effects for it arent enough i have been there in the army firing these things and there is a reason you dont fire these things for ambush in the dailight as there is that much dust and smoke blown up that you dont see shit at night is a different story as you have muzzle flashes and with ninogs and nads working still amongst all the smoke crap and corruption in the air you are able to effectively target even with all of that i can remember my range instructor screaming out at the top of his lungs as we lied 7 meters from the claymores in shellscrapes(small fighting bays 1 ft deep) "this is why you dont use claymore in daylight ambushes"and hit the clackers fro 7 claymores ...the dust didnt settle for 10 minutes and yeah we all had  backs covered in dust and a couple of guys had shredded bumpacks as thier asses sat a little high out of the shellscrapes and were lucky not to take shrap so i can tell you in my experience the claymores we have atm are mild in comparison however the ranges for the claymore are as the tab data you posted its just to get them like that you have to have them on a flat surface (good luck) or point them up at a slight angle as they are adjustable upward and downward and left and right once placed remember these are only in beta at this point and are a work in progress so you input is appreciated none the less as far as the sounds and detection by sf and engineers i will let pingu know and see if he can look into it all the best ONI
