  1. To imply that I made that post to increase my post count implies that you know what I'm thinking. With all due respect, W0lle, you have no idea what I'm thinking. I use VBS2 in a professional capacity, and seeing these posts about the "intent" of VBS2, and theorizing about the "reasoning" behind BIA's decisions, and such is just silly. I merely pointed out that silliness in a way that should be regarded as humorous, not insulting. I have nothing against any of the people here, I'm simply pointing at the silliness of these theories. There's no need to (yet again) single me out in a forum that is riddled with flamebait. If you have an issue with me, I'd appreciate you using PMs to convey it.

    Well, right off the top of my head, I think you should attach a "fired" event handler to the unit, and increment a shot counter. When the shot counter reaches your threshold, issue the command to take cover/stop shooting/pick his nose/whatever. Then, make sure to clear the counter when he is supposed to go back to shooting again.

    I strongly ALWAYS recommend that before submitting a bug report, try to duplicate the problem with only the one addon installed. This way, one can narrow the problem down to being in that addon. Then, if the problem isn't duplicated, add in addons that are similar to the one(s) giving trouble, to try and find conflicts. Sometimes in configs, inheritance isn't handled correctly, or tags aren't used in class names, or any number of other issues. By using this slow, but accurate method, people can properly report bugs. This will hopefully avoid the "weird" element because I would bet that several of the people getting CTDs are using the same addons, or have artifacts left behind in their directories from other addons. Either way, I'd bet you see a pattern emerge.

    Without knowing the specifics of the addon(s) that you're talking about, I can only give you a general answer. In general, you will not be able to change functionality like that without changing the addon itself. Sometimes this might be as simple as tweaking a few lines, other times it might require a full restructuring of the way the addon handles it's tasks. What it seems like you're looking for is an external script to affect the internal workings of another script, and as far as I know, this would be completely impossible.
  5. How far would you like to run when you're fully-laden like a mule? You've got a rifle, a pistol, the ammo for both, an AT4, and 3 rounds for it... and you tried to run the length of an American football field? Would you feel better if you could get an extra meter or two out of it? That's about all I think you could ever expect any soldier to do. The AT4 weighs in at 6.7 kg, and the rockets are about 2kg each, so double the AT4 weight to carry three rockets. So now you're carrying ~13 kg of AT gear, in addition to your rifle and pistol and ammo.... YEAH RIGHT you're going to run more than 100m... lol
  6. FLIR/Thermal if I'm not mistaken is a config thing too. I don't know about increasing maximum capacity, but I'm pretty sure that is also a config issue.

    Yeah, the launcher in the pictures is definitely somewhere in between the "original" yellow and the "new" yellow. Â It looks to me to be more like the "new" than the "original", but I think the "new" is too green now. Â But ultimately it boils down to your opinion, and how you want to do the mod. It's your mod, after all.

  10. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that you can't addMagazine to a vehicle that isn't configured to use that weapon. For example, I don't think you can configure a M1A1 to fire out... GBUs instead of shells, for example. So I believe the only way you could get the different loadout would be to edit the config for the plane.
  11. Are you adding a different type of weapon than what it normally comes equipped with? Also, I haven't used it, but have you looked into Mando's Missles as a script-focused addon?
  12. No mod is pinned. Â This is a list of mods that are very realistic, and it's constantly updated. Â For those people that want realistic mods, they can look in this list to try and find what they're looking for instead of going through years of posts to try and find the one they want. Vilas, try chilling out and looking through what this thread is about. Â It's not about ONE mod, it's about a whole bunch of mods. If someone wants to download the compilation as a single mod, they're more than permitted, but this list isn't so much about that compilation as it is about providing the community with an alternative to trying to sift through thousands of little addons.

  16. "Most people" being who? Did you do a population survey when I wasn't looking? Certainly more information in the "how-to" section would be nice, but there's no need to back up a logical request with fudged pseudo-math.

    Curiosity killed the cat. Or in this case, harassed the addon maker. It's only been a month since the last post/update report, be patient (this addon's been in development since February last year, so one month isn't much).

    Too little of a request and way too late, in all likelihood it probably wouldn't even be implemented in ArmA2. I'd be willing to bet that a community-made addon could solve the problem that you're having though, so maybe put a request in the request thread?

    Is there any reason why the ACE Mod team would be the only people you contact regarding this request? Can anyone do it, or is there a feature of ACE that must be present? I ask because it seems like singling the ACE Mod team out and making them seem too haughty might be unfair. If there's a reason for asking them specifically, then I could understand, but it doesn't sound like ACE Mod is needed for this request.
  20. Yay for empirical testing results! Saying "this patch didn't fix shit" and then discovering that the problems are virtually exclusive to people with more than 3 Gb RAM + 4870 video cards... well, that's just like a mini-Christmas present of humble pie there. When proper testing is done, then proper results are achieved. Talking like one knows something without having tested it is the equivalent of a caveman trying to figure out how to make fire. Everyone looks at the caveman funny, and someone always get burned.

    Unless I've totally missed the mark here, I think the whole point of the island was to be a place for Loki to screw around and have fun. In fact, the first sentence sums this up pretty nicely: Loki: "sooo.. i got tired of waiting for a map that suited my needs..." So I think it does what it was designed to do already. If he wants to make it do more, that's great. I just hope that people don't get bent out of shape if he keeps it as is.

  24. @Telejunky: cool idea for a model. Â I only have one "nitpick": it looks to me that the station on the website is hexagonal, but the model is square. Â Is this intentional?
