Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
NoRailgunner replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
Imo IF-Lib1944 devs should start releasing some more infos including teasers/trailers, increase public campaigns (PR, marketing) and show the world (possible buyers/players) their work, developments and new features. -
Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)
NoRailgunner replied to SFG's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Somehow AT static guns and Jagdpanzer are a bit useless with AI - seems that they can't target + fire even if an vehicle is 200m in front of them. Or is it just something in the models that works for AI as an unfortunate viewblock? -
Nice Greek island! Imo those fleets/taskgroups (RUS/US) are too close to each other and it looks more like Mitilini is under siege and will be involved in a "threesome/gangbang" as soon as Turkey sees a chance. That would be total madness for all those citizens on Mitilini. ;) What about a "light" version without certain addons so that players don't get "bored" with hardcoded stuff that is not moveable or changeable by mission design/script? Or just more water to the south and Krivak group placed far away (close to southern horizon) from the island? :)

Fuel consuption tank > car seems reversed
NoRailgunner replied to Beagle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Fuel consumption is scripted in some missions. Highly doubt that there are enough people who have the time or who are in the mood to drive around just to find out that its good to know where the next gas station or fuel truck is. AFAIK all vehicles (on default) have enough fuel to get into the area of operations and back. Increasing the fuel consumption of vehicles in a mission is just a trick to keep the player aware + cautious and the mission designer can "guide" him somehow. :) -
Where did I assume that BIS can only one or two important things? Its more about high and low (or lower) priority. Imo more high detailed facial animations could be lower priority for A3 development. Lets hope that BIS don't focus too much on such little details that are just "nice to have". Btw it would be nice to have something like energy grids for towns and cities and better AI taxiing.... ;)
-
How many times the player looks at certain "highly detailed" facial expressions in A2OA/A3? How important is this for A3 compared to adventure/RPG games? Imo its nice to have/see more facial animations but there are more important things to fix/tweak and improve with ingame characters/models and their animations.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 90242 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
NoRailgunner replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Shhh, don't tell m'kay - BIS devs are working on a new project http://mthruf.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/job-fails-i-need-this-program-now.jpg -
The Console and the PC are dead as gaming platforms so where now?
NoRailgunner replied to walker's topic in OFFTOPIC
Well as additional screen one could use his android smartphone/tablet (guess thats where BIS could/will go too?) eg something like DCS Manager with A-10C: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.yeepeekai.dcs.manager&feature=search_result -

Just wonder if walkers tablet is 100% tinfoiled just in case of the possible conspiracy of dead pc's and consoles against the hip toys? :P -
Gunnery and Targeting Bug Thread
NoRailgunner replied to magnus28's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Very strange with vanilla A2OA + latest betabuild you can't lock infantry and there are no little green squares around any single infantry units. Vehicles are marked with green boxes in aircraft HUD.... just re-check that you play/test with latest vanilla and not some "mixed-up with other addons/mods" Arma. ;) -
MadDogX just read my first comment (#17) and read this as suggestion/idea to this thread, not as personal attack against you. Now look at your response post (#18).... What is and feels more smooth/precise "to peek" or "to raise/lower" your head, weapon etc - single/double keypress or mousewheel? Of course using TrackIR or motion sensing device would feel more fluent and "real"....

Codies up to something: OFP 4?
NoRailgunner replied to instagoat's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
So this thread is about rumours about CM's yet unknown/classified FPS? Hmmmm.... should we increase those "Like it" on their social sites to lure them into a trap or should we ignore those rumours until the game is released/"done"?? Or should we even care to overload their forums with totally serious polls and incredible awesome suggestions??? :) -
Lol MadDogX I got you with your first reply and your arrogance shows only how sensitive you are if it comes to reading + understanding opinions. I want that the player is able to change/stop all of his movements/animations without clipping or snapping him into pre-defined (cover) positions, I like that players are fully responsible for their actions be it weapon resting or reloading etc.... Whats wrong with that? Sorry if you feel offended! But after all it seems that you can scrap your statements within seconds - thats a good sign, isn't it?

Ragdolls = In .... Realistic wounds ???
NoRailgunner replied to guiltyspark's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Whirly, I just quoted this guy who wrote post #409 and there are many people who just enjoy the game and look forward to A3 without voting for feature X or feature Y or act like a little kid "OMFG, MUST HAVE!!1!11, vote Full .... now!" Its just how representative/biased such (game) forum polls really are... I hope that BIS knows how much "gore" they want to sell with A3. ;) -
Let the player adjust his position and his rifle how and where he likes it instead of "clipping" him into a certain place. Otherwise the feeling of beeing "guided" or "controlled" by gameplay design is awkward and nonnatural. But maybe mindless fanbois are just too comfy using a key/button to get into the right position or to select what they actually want? Perhaps its better to implement an "UltraAuto" mode so those players have only to decided to shoot or to reload? Seriously where gaming is gone if the player can't controll and move his ingame character how he likes??

Ragdolls = In .... Realistic wounds ???
NoRailgunner replied to guiltyspark's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
This poll shows only the result of those who vote but assuming that "over 75% of the Arma community is in favour of full gore" is a bit far-fetched. Most people can and do enjoy games without excessive bloodshed/blood sfx or flying limbs + skulls. How is it great or fun to watch someone get his body tear apart or blown into pieces? Will the average player like to see himself suffering from pain or will he like to be stuck in agony for the rest of the mission? How much does the player know about proper medical treatment and the real time needed to heal wounds/psyche/soul? Instead of adding "full gore" I hope that BIS will develop their wound and first aid system (incl. to carry wounded). -
What about using the mousewheel for more fluid movement/stance so the player can adjust it easily? Imo power-sliding, bunny-jumping and automatic cover-clip-systems should be left to mainstream shooters and console crowd. Let the player decide what he wants to do incl. stop/break current animation/movement. Of course a feedback should be also implemented so he "feels" and knows that some cool looking stuff is only effective in action movies/games.

Precision settings in user cfg aren't important anymore since patch 1.60, weapon cfg's determine the distance/use of weapon for AI and for further tweaking you may try changing AI skills via scripts http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/CfgAISkill or addon (ASR AI). Its a wrong assumption that scopes/optics make a weapon itself "better" or "great", this should be left to arcade/shooter games. Should AI with a long range sniper rifle be "better" in CQB than a AI with ironsight/reflex sights? Btw AI don't "look" and "see" all the things ingame like players do. ;)
-
Imo "0" and "1" (or ultraAI) are just good for testing AI. It doesn't make sense to set them all on the highest possible settings just to watch them killing the enemy with the first shot/burst over a certain distance. Only exception could be if the player plays A2OA with an old/slow cpu and tries to "counter" this with highest AI setup. Of course BIS could provide some good + useful presets but that would mean they have to play/tweak the game on their own, which also means less time to develop + make all the things.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 90242 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
NoRailgunner replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Please improve or make the new "look-where-player-steer" optional. Its kinda horrible to get in as driver and suddenly beeing stuck in steering wheel orientation or beeing stuck while driving. Happens without TrackIR, on veteran, changing controller keys doesn't help either. -

antoineflemming what do you really know about OFP/Armaverse? -
Thanks, sounds good if there are no issues with ASR AI & Inv44 units! :)
-
How compatible is Invasion44 mod or is it safer to copy&paste unitnames into asr_ai_settings.hpp?

ARMA 2: OA beta build 90242 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
NoRailgunner replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
cotabucky not every soldier or team is found or attacked automatically-instantly by pilot/gunner in real - why should they do it in A2OA or break away from their current mission/role? Guess BIS could implement a "loiter" waypoint in A3 or test it within the next betabuilds. Meanwhile try doWatch, doTarget, doFire... ;)
