Congratulations Bohemia Interactive
NoRailgunner replied to almanzo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Sorry but some of you make it sound like DayZ was "planned by BIS" but on the other hand in interviews with BIS its sound more that they are surprised that DayZ is just filling their pockets now. Problems, bugs and issues were there before this zombie/pvp (horde) mod(e), they were reported but BIS put a blind eye on them.... -
Congratulations Bohemia Interactive

All those recent "DayZ" bugfixes/improvements don't fix anything brand new or unknown. One could also ask BIS why it took so long to do it? -
sektor - in A3 (2035) I would prefer some fancy new sniper instead of this "ancient" M21 rifle. Its said that the new A3 sniper weapon system will make much cleaner shot/hit and without too much noise! Just imagine the sniper with an old + loud sniper rifle will be localized just a second or two after his first shot - imagine the outrage about modern sniper/fire detection systems and the capabilities of surpressing his position. Btw the modern battle axe of A3 could be the Switchblade "kamikaze" drone (SUAS) or something similar....

Sound like someone with a military fetish is trying to convince all with his preferences of old weapons and vehicles.... and their "charisma" aka Or is it just another poor try to make A3 include only military stuff that could be obsolete/upgraded by 2035? What about the "charisma" of crossbows, swords and battle axes?

Will Bohemia finally improve ARMA's PVP to attract New Players?
NoRailgunner replied to LockDOwn's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
BIS should make their own multiplayer awesomeness without creating just a copy of popular CoD/BF/shooter maps. Hope that BIS devs think about A3 and the possibilities that they can use and that other games don't have. Cross fingers that we will see something new and unique too - no risk, no fun! ;) -
A userfriendly + helpful GUI is always better than some awkward old-fashioned and simple console box where you have to type in everything. There is nothing to be afraid of useful GUI + features. :) Some people will like to make + play simple missions mostly-only, some will try to make + play more advanced missions.... everyone starts making content step by step so why stopping this process via GUI?

Can I stop the AI from cheating?
NoRailgunner replied to thecoolsideofthepillow's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Try it with default aka vanilla AI + default difficult settings - that is what most if not all new players of A2OA experience playing the game for the first time/days.... Situation with AI is still far from great for someone who is new into Armaverse and who likes to see the difference between "dumb" bots and "glorious" Arma (BIS) AI. Pilot AI are still crashing and driver AI especially in convoys with more than 2-3 vehicles are subpar.... ;) -
Can I stop the AI from cheating?
NoRailgunner replied to thecoolsideofthepillow's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Well sometimes the default AI is somewhat strange - they can't spot a tank driving in clear LOS but are able to spot/hit someone through foliage. AI is still able to stand in a middle of a arty/mortar barrage and fire + kill someone with highest precision. With fog/rain the AI can highly "predict" enemy/friendly units at distances where the player can't see a thing. There is still a lot to do before one can say that AI is able to mimikry a human in every situation. Just try to change some difficulty settings option menu and/or use latest "ASR AI skill" addon. -
Something that disturbed me about A2: amount of enemies you were up against.
NoRailgunner replied to Jaypaul97's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
There are only very few missions where the player can see and notice that something else aka "bigger" is going on. Campaign missions are just focused around the player and his team/group - often one can see it by just raising the viewdistance. Nothing to see, no other battles, no other friendlies or enemies in range, no multipliers, no kinetic operations..... Btw didn't BIS said that they want to change AI eg reducing their actions in certain distance to player? -
There is always a difference between demonstration/presentation and release/"final" product. Just don't expect that BIS or any other gamedev/publisher will make an ubersim incl. land, air and sea combat....

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION
NoRailgunner replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Userfriendly AI editing options aka AI interface so one can easily change/tune AI. Have an option to change some settings during preview would be great. :) -
Thanks, what kind of main tools for underwater operations will A3 offer to frogmen? How much of (under-) water physics will work and where is the limit for A3 release/development? Btw will players have the choice of using/experiencing different fins eg freediving fins or flipfins in A3?
-
Thanks for new lighting info guess most people will enjoy sunrise-daylight-sunset-twilight-dusk and night in A3, maybe even take a break from shooting.... :) Do those underwater weapons use supercavitating ammunition and have a limited accurate range ~25m or will there be no difference to standard ammunition in A3? Hope that a handgrenade will be useable in A3 as deadly "depth charge" too.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 93040 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
NoRailgunner replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Why is that sometimes AI team leader or members don't stop repeating orders/confirmations eg "1,3,4 Engaging target" ? Its like they got stuck in a loop.... -
Iron Front: Liberation 1944 - Gameplay Videos
NoRailgunner replied to Nicholas's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
Everyone can play/rate a game how he (or publisher) wants. Imagine all those players who don't agree with high rated games but are still "forced to like + play" it - just because all the other players/friends have to like it too.... aka horde mode on! -
How much CPU power one would need to mimikry human situational awareness with AI? How big is the impact with many AI's and AI teams/groups? How far one can go with dynamic/'kinetic' scenarious so the player won't ever notice spawning or scripting tricks + tweaks? What about xaitment products - do/will they work in A3 or is it licensing agreement only for VBS2?

DayZ Zombie RPG (Unofficial Mod) Alpha
NoRailgunner replied to rocket's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Zombies and survival themes are now quite popular.... but if this hype disappears only few of these players will stay with A2OA/A3. Imo its a lucky situation and I just hope that Rocket/BIS will use the experience/infos for A3. Just think about selecting a faction (GreekResistance/IranianForces/NATO) and survive/adapt/win on Limnos TvT/Coop/all mixed mp missions.... -
Using IF technology in Arma2
NoRailgunner replied to kremator's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
So you just want the WW2 tank damage system for modern tanks in A2OA? Something like a magic damage/destruction "morph" just by installing IronFront: Liberation 1944? ;) -
[SP/MP] Dynamic Whole Map Missions by SaOk
NoRailgunner replied to SaOk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Hehe, tried two times and the helicopter crash was placed somehow too close to russians first time I got this message about going into cover (thought no combat/battle was going on) and the second time I managed to get away within 20 sec. Just curious - why the NAPA HQ has to be so close to Krasnostav/Russian border? Imo the spawning of enemies could be a little reduced or placed further away it feels like they use some kind of portal.... ;) It seems there is a issue with AI recognizing friendly/enemy units at the start where you have to follow and support a small group. Chedakis were standing very close (~5m) to NAPA units and did only fire at me. -
Printed, Full Sized map of Limnos with Sprocket Purchase/preorder Possible?
NoRailgunner replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
R yu mad? A map? A compass? A protractor to find grid coordinates? All those potential future OMG-D3ltA-Warri0rZ and geardo bro'players won't be able to do anything with these things! They will instant-cry for a superderp mobile with integrated cheat "find-&-show-me-everything" app. A3 is set in 2035 not ancient 2012!! ;) -
Will the BIS Store sell physical copies?
NoRailgunner replied to aussieterry84's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Steel box or platinum? Including a map, compass and Ouzo? -
Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
NoRailgunner replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
Hope that Iron Front Liberation 44 doesn't have modern devices/features (eg GPS) mixed with old/obsolete WW2 devices/features. Guess its impossible to get something like the good old OFP/CWA mission notebook (GUI) back into A2OA? Would feel ten times better for WW2 theme, imo. :) -
Steamworks games require Steam to be installed. Or in other words it forces customers to install Steam aka 3rd party software just to work with Steamwork titles.... One could say its just a little trick to lure people into buying games through Steam sales. People working for Steam do know how to sell candys and how to bind customers to their platform. Of course people will put a blind eye on as long as they can get their fix.... ;) Imo buying A3 online on BIS store is the best option. No need to split profit for things that can be done by BIS eg addon/mod launcher, mp browser....

DayZ Zombie RPG (Unofficial Mod) Alpha
NoRailgunner replied to rocket's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Seems that the masses are just happy shooting at each other and dumb zombies.... Imo this "Panicing sound effect" is just too artificial/bad - let the player decide himself in what kind of state he really is. -
What about standalone games that just run and can be enjoyed without "the man in the middle"? Why cheering up someone who is putting you on his leash - just because of all those special offers/sales he makes? What is more narrow-minded: to have options/choices or to be fully dependent on someone who likes to makes some profit with his online distribution, sales & marketing? Just support BIS directly and buy A3 from their own online-store. Guess its just very convient to follow + pay the first one who sells candys, instead of going around and trying to directly support the people who create and made them. Those risk of new ways can't be ignored - let's stay forever at Steam and repeat/sugarcoat what their salesman said.... :)
