Its all speculation until there are facts eg mission of the Turkish Air Force pilots, radio messages/warnings..... rumours said that pilots were on a recon mission and just flew a little bit too far into Syrian airspace while other rumors said that the Syrians were just a little trigger happy and ordered to shoot down any plane that doesn't respond accordingly after the defection of a Syrian pilot with his plane. Guess both sides will blame each other for beeing unprofessional and not using proper means of action + communication. Doubt that NATO will send a retaliation force or something similar....

Messiah its no about "me me me", its just if you order people to get into vehicles they kinda try all tricks not to be a crewmember, just a passenger switching to 3rd or switching to desktop, minding their own business until someone calls them back. Reason is that no one really likes to be glued to this limited peephole view in driver/gunner/commander seat.
-
Messiah people do appreciate the interior view + feeling of it and of course the look through those small periscopes to get a authentic/"better" overview. Of course we could discuss which functions should work and which would be nice to have.... But at least BIS could try to make people happier with working periscopes. Btw how do you feel sitting as passenger in the back of an vehicle that would have no texture/details and is static/featureless?
-
It's just simple: people want to feel operating a vehicle and not beeing glued/stuck into somekind of optics/peephole. They want to see through those small periscopes and see some of the interior. Mostly they are only starring through optics if there is a reason to do so. Even if all the switches/buttons where functional - do you honestly think that people would switch/press them all the time?
-
Its not about some rivet counting or "tunnel vision" - its about what people/paying customers do like to feel when sitting in A3 vehicle. Till A3/2035 is enough time to change/upgrade/"modernize" actual vehicle interiors. On one hand there is the fictional Mi28-Mi24-Ka50 Hamok and on the other you don't have any creativity and imagination for interiors? Sorry but that sounds more like an cheap excuse not to work on interiors. Maybe its just some overpaid/hyped gamedevs who just make "babies/bastards" but don't care + play with them? Perhaps its not a bad idea after all to lock down or force certain devs to play and use their own stuff ingame..... maybe over the time/years they got too blind to see what is important, what does matters playing + enjoying a game like A2OA/A3?
-
Its about what people do feel when they have to drive a (armored) vehicle.... actually many/most players avoid beeing a driver/gunner/commander just because BIS cut out the interior. People want to see at least somekind of authentic view when they sit down without beeing in "weapon sight" mode. Of course some working switches/buttons would be great too but that can be saved for later upgrades/patches. Don't look at this case just from a dev view, perhaps try to play with vehicles which do have somekind of interior and compare the feeling/immersion with vehicles where you just switch into rectangle peepview. I say its 100% worth to make people feel like sitting in a vehicle and not just like "moving around in a black box"....
-
If its end up beeing just a annoying/cumbersome feature that has little or no effect on A3/2035 weapons - make it optional. Don't waste time on gimmicky stuff if there are other things waiting to be done and need to work flawlessly from the get-go.

Multiplayer Balancing - Will Arma3's MP be balanced?
NoRailgunner replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Just imagine the only difference between the A3 factions/sides is just the unit color/patch/insignia/BDU..... how authentic or real would that be + feel? Simple mission are good + fun for the casual crowd and to lure new people into Armaverse. More complex missions are good + fun for "Die Hard" sim crowd and veterans. BIS just need to get their mission makers to work harder on making an awesome A3xperience!! No beer and knedliky the next weeks.... ot they all get fat and lazy! ;) -

Where is the challenge if all factions/sides do use the same vehicles, gear/equipment and weapon systems? -
Tonic87 stop talking BS: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-18562210

Its an future-fictional tank with the Nemo mortar cannon.... Anyway some of the A3 stuff just looks like "old" things are mixed, shaked & stirred together. Blame the Aliens or Czech beer!! ;)

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION

+ flawless working video feed from aircrafts (UAS/UAV) and surveillance cameras/optics (recon) to ground operators and pilots/gunners // + feature to jam or disturb such data streams (no need to make the gameplay too easy with such "all-seeing-eyes") -
7yvUrCJ2pQI ... ;)

Well there is a difference between accessibilty (= available to as many people as possible) and usability....

Yep, ProfTournesol is spot on if you look at the picture from left to right: H.M. Murdock, Templeton "Face" Peck, Hannibal Smith, B.A. Baracus and the in the back the black van.

That is simply what you get if you let a casual player show his authentic military expertise and keep on putting a blind eye on his views/examples.

Hmm.... you are standing there a little bit exposed. From 0:12 they notice a contact and 7/8 seconds later they move into combat, sounds like one of your team is firing first. If you don't want to be located + targeted don't reveal yourself (incl. movements/gunfire). Try to see the situation from the oppenents side too so you can guess/predict what he can see and where he can move. Don't set the AI skill + AI precision/UltraAI to max = 1 thats just good for testing. If you have to move in close range to enemy use the slowest speed and don't expose yourself. If player can aim/shoot through two branches or a gap in foliage - AI should be able to do the same.

Hehe this M113 IFV TOW looks a bit like a early M2 Bradley prototype variant.... customized by RACS - now pimp'd by wld427! :)

ARMA 2: OA beta build 93965 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)

Thanks for another update! Btw it would be better if the "In gear added bars with ammo count" would be changed so one can see only a semitransparent magazine with bullets/darker part. For now it looks like a neongreeny-dirty workaround. Would be good to have a "refill magazine" feature so nearly empty magazines can be re-filled again within reasonable time. :) -

Yes, proper re-set of "AI knowsabout" on mission save/start could solve some other related AI issues/bugs too. IIRC its an old and resistant bug like the muzzle flash bug which appears sometimes/rarely after loading a mission.... -

Repro doesn't match real world situation, it could be that AI is just aware of each other because they are placed/spawned too close to each other at the same time. What happen if you try my suggestion and maybe with different AI behaviour, heading and speed? ;) -

Tonic87 just try to place opponents a bit further away so they can't "see" each other.... or do you really think that such sudden spawn/placement happen in real life? Do you believe that your opponent should be more careless and act like a dumb bot eg not scanning areas within his weapon range? -

Some easier things to fix: those single turret headlights on BMP's, BRDM's etc are still on - even if these vehicles are destroyed. Btw would be in general better if all damaged/destroyed vehicles don't start to burn or explode. Please fix that the T-90 deploys a smoke screen (APS/Shtora) and not the Takistani T-72. :) -
Back in good old times one could order/micromanage his own OFP/CWA AI much better but time is is changing and some working/useful things got "fixed" too.... Guess BIS just listen more and more to potential buyers aka shooter/action and casual game players. How can you run a business and make profit with a simgame?

Polandball and Russiastrongcrew are sad.... You need at least 11 quality players to get through such an tournament and a bit of luck. ;)
