Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION
NoRailgunner replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Damage for suspension, gearbox, steering etc so vehicles will receive damage by driving too fast and/or too careless through terrain. Make players and AI think more about using roads before going cross-country with no or very little impact on their vehicles. -
peration Harvest Red: How do they get all the vehicles ashore?
NoRailgunner replied to BoltboxerPro's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Just look at the map and follow the coast road and try again to find those towns with bigger harbours. Maybe BIS will make a landing craft like the Zubr (or a modern hi-tech version of it) for A3.... guess there were "nice to have/watch" but overall not so important for A2OA. -
Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)
NoRailgunner replied to SFG's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Blame only those people who are just too lazy/dumb to download, unpack and copy/overwrite files - only they "know" what is soooo difficult about it incl. reading the readme/manual! The more options one has to download the better - forcing all people to download + using a specific download tool/app launcher isn't so nice at all. ;) -
Cold War Rearmed² : Demo 4

Found a little weapon/ammo bug with the Soviet Squad Leader (Winter Unit) - just place him on the cold and lifeless Winter Kolgujev.... -

Thank you for working on and updating this great mod of nostalgia!! Just curious - JSRS soundmod is and will be not required to download and enjoy CWR2 + expansions = only "recommended"? -
Arma 3 is not going far enough with Technology

How important are air superiority (F-22, Su-27/30MKI/30MKK) and multirole fighters (F-35/SU-35/Eurofighter Typhoon) in A3 or Armaverse at all? How many people will enjoy for how long BVR/WVR "dogfights" with modern/stealthy aircrafts?? Highly doubt that BIS is so much interested to turn A3 into a proper modern flightsim and/or tank sim. -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 101144 (1.62 MP compatible build, post 1.62 release)
NoRailgunner replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Strange thing that it crashs just beeing in the menu - even with deleted/new arma2oa.cfg. No problems with older betabuilds or stable patch. BIS what have you done/changed/fixed/tweaked? -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 101144 (1.62 MP compatible build, post 1.62 release)
NoRailgunner replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Deleted and reinstalled this betabuild but getting CTD as soon as I'm in the mission menu or trying to create a new profile.... no crashdump just back to desktop. :( -
@Iceman77 - default AI are turning into sitting, walking or running ducks and moaning that they run out of ammo even if their own backpack is full of ammo. ASR AI helps to get AI ammo on their own or even another weapon with ammo. Another issue is how often the AI uses binoculars, rangefinders or laser designators during combat or if the group should move/advance. Sadly the best workaround to enjoy a mission is still to remove binoculars, rangefinders, laser designators and pistols/handguns from AI.

Arma 3 is not going far enough with Technology
NoRailgunner replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well maybe OPFOR even got somehow a high-energy laser weapon system capable of providing air defence and Blufor can't do much against it unless its deactivated? IIRC such prototypes and their capabilities were shown last year. Just curious why BIS didn't show the H&K G11 - revamped for A3? :D -

Going to try it out. Btw will there be "hickups" using latest AI tweaks/addons like ASR AI/TPW LOS etc? -
Arma 3 is not going far enough with Technology
NoRailgunner replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Todays technologies are somewhat different to what was used back in the 50's or 60's. What about FLIR, remote controlled weapon stations, unmanned systems (UAVs, UCAVs, UGVs), communication/IT networks, AESA radar, modern targeting/cueing systems, C-RAM systems etc? Of course helmets, rifles and soldiers kit/equipment have been also developed to be more effective and lightweight/portable. Just because you don't like to see the progress of research and developments doesn't mean there are none. A3 is set in 2035 and in the alternate reality of Armaverse.... in A2 you can use the F-35 but how many of them are actually fielded and deployed? ;) -
JCDBionicman just because you want that pvp gameplay like you used to play on a console doesn't mean that the majority of pc gamers agree with you....
-
Thought that people should be able to choose what they like to play? Keep in mind that not every mission is made to please everyone's liking or fun... some missions are just created for certain interests and/or "target groups".

Single Player Campaign/ Purpose and Expectations
NoRailgunner replied to PlacidPaul's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Maybe it will be close to some heroic SEAL/SAS action-plots (eg "Act of Valor", "Bravo Two Zero") ? btw wasn't Team Razor borrowed from poor "Tears of the Sun" movie? :D -
Default AI needs to be finetuned to observe something like good firefight and for longer firefights you need to supply them with ammunitions. Cross fingers that in A3 the default AI can use and rearm themselves - at least through their own backpack/pouch/belt.

Just another hardcore "Pay 2 Win" game?
-
From oculusvr - doubt that BIS is going to risk their A3 game developments and profits for an device that is not available yet (for all "at a price that everyone can afford"). - guess no one does think that BIS will be able to understand and integrate all the Oculus Rift VR things properly within few days/weeks. It could be interesting to see for how long how many people will like to use such a eye/divers mask.

How to improve the Close Quarter Combat experience in Arma 3?
NoRailgunner replied to Intezar's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Using all sort of AI tweaks and combinations maybe nice for your own scenarios but missions that aren't made with these customized AI scripts/addons will very likely be broken or screwed up. Probably some of these AI tweaks can also be too old/obsolete to be used with latest A2OA (beta)patches.... On the other hand many players just don't like to waste their time setting up all these AI tweaks up until they fit to their taste and just to find out that not all sp/mp missions will work with their customized AI setup. -
The heavy SP-5 cartridge with hardened steel or tungsten tip is able to fully penetrate a standard army helmet at 400m. The ammo used with VSS Vintorez (SP-5, SP-6, PAB-9) is very effective at penetrating body armor. Usually the weapon is used under 500m (mostly at ranges 50-300m).

Hell in the Pacific 0.5 beta release
NoRailgunner replied to Waxbutter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thanks for bringing the Pacific War into A2OA!! Guess most people think of the Pacific War as big naval battles (Battle of the Coral Sea, Naval Battle of Guadalcanal) and air-to-air/carrier-to-carrier combat (Battle of Midway). Ground battles were fought in jungle-like conditions which are hard to portray in Armaverse for example vegetation, temperature and humidity. Having too many objects/clutter, craters on a small area will render the AI to ineffective units. Perhaps you can tweak the areas and objects so AI won't get stuck or slowed down too much (what about islands/maps without wrecks/ruins/bomb craters + less fortified position/obstacles)? Would be nice if you can add infinite land/sea to all of your islands/maps and probably some simple small pacific islands? Guadalcanal needs to look more like the real one = needs more jungle vegetation. Imo a good start for people getting into a mod is to make some kind of missions which do introduce all the mod features. "Training/boot camp" type of missions are tenfold better than just simple "Showcase" do-all-what-you-like-on-your-own missions. -

NoRailgunner replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
What about radios, communication, radar/EW, sensors and similar warfighting equipment? What about developments of APC's, IFV's and JLTV's? Are MBT's developed and made for urban warfare? Some people here have a very simple-minded view on warfare, like kids comparing vehicles/weapons just by specifications....
