I made a quick little mission, nothing special: Hasty Attack A fictional mission about an Argentine Marine patrol encountering a British observation post west of Two Sisters in late May '82. The platoon commander decides to attack the seemingly lightly defended position. Player's role: Rifleman Singleplayer Mission edited and tested with ArmA version 1.16 Intro: yes Outro: yes (Outro loose, I did not finish the Win outro) Required addons Campania de Malvinas mod beta release obviously No other addons are required Supported languages English German Spanish (my Spanish is quite bumpy, I'd be glad if any native speaker wants to correct my briefing, overview and stringtable) Download http://rapidshare.com/files/370037378/Hasty_Attack.MLV_PtoArgentino.pbo.html http://www.speedshare.org/download.php?id=7159E62D11

This may be a stupid question but: where do I have to put the MLV_Missions.pbo in order for the missions to show up anywhere? I copied it into the addons, missions and mpmissions folder but no new mission(s) show up in the SP mission list or when creating a LAN server...

I know about the confusion about the Buzos Tácticos and the Comandos Anfibios. I have Martin Middlebrook's book "The Argentine fight for the Falklands" in which he says that the Buzos Tácticos mistakenly got the credit for taking Government House. That's why I asked what exactly the units in the editor represent ;) So what is the difference between the Amphibious Commandos Group and the 601/602 Commandos Company units in the editor (they obviously have different models so I should rather say "what is or was their difference in reallife?")? I suppose the latter represents a sub-unit of the Amphibious Commandos Group? Although the release is BETA and there are no air units (yet) I think it's already pretty at par with the Flashpoint in the Falklands mod release for Operation Flashpoint.

Nice work with the mod! Looking forward to seeing the air units. I noticed the terrain at the foot of Sapper Hill is almost impassable for AI units. My squad had to walk halfway around the hill where the track is to get to the top. Did you leave the map unlablled on purpose (names of the terrain features around Stanley/Puerto Argentino)? Are the Amphibious Commandos Group units supposed to be Buzos Tácticos or the 601/602 Commandos Company units? I am making a mission about the fighting around Government House on April 2nd and want to make sure to use the correct units for it (I don't want to use the units in the mission which represent the Buzos Tácticos).

Why don't you make missions yourself?

How to have groups report contact with enemy?
zwobot replied to CaptainBravo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
You might want to consider converting General Barrons AI infoshare script from Ofp to Arma/Arma2 and adding a single sideChat line which should do the trick. -
I bet the sniper in the third picture is Overlord...

Is it possible, through chat, to output text to a given channel?
zwobot replied to bfalcon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
It's not possible to write text to a certain channel directly. You have to open the chat and then switch the channel with the up and down arrow keys before sending the entered text. You can however VON directly into a certain channel by assigning the associated key in the options. -
They are not afaik, it's an "independant" addon. Although the news item says they basically are a ripoff from some Lowland addons I'd like to check them out anyway.

Does anyone still have those available: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=8115

insurgents editing
zwobot replied to lostninja's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I don't think setFriend will work because Insurgent faction and Russian faction belong to the same side EAST and setFriend does not work with factions only sides according to the Biki. -
Thanks for the links, I like this mission and lost it some time ago...

That is a contradiction. A PvP mission can't be realistic an balanced at the same time. It seems to be a common misconception that realism equals fun. Generally speaking that is not true.

What is the engagement range for the MG4 in the config? I noticed that my Pixeltruppen armed with G36s opened up on targets 400-500 meters away while the Automatic Riflemen armed with MG4s only stood there staring in the air...

Russian army tactical signs v2.0
zwobot replied to dead kennedy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Mapfact? And I thought they quit (not all of the individual members but the site/team itsself). Well I was wrong: I still had Arma installed and I tried the demo missions. :) They were fun to play and I liked the briefings and how you setup the movements in the attack with a flanking squad. -
Russian army tactical signs v2.0
zwobot replied to dead kennedy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Interesting addon. A pity that there are no demo missions for the Arma2 version (I don't have Arma installed right now to check out the demo missions). But anyway nice to see an addon being released with demo missions included. I wish every addon would be released with demo missions... -
Basic Briefing howto
zwobot replied to Mike84's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Yes I did try that - it did not work either. Edit: I found a piece of information in the Ofpec.com forum: Source: http://www.ofpec.com/forum/index.php?topic=34437.msg236989#msg236989 I think this should solve my problem. I really don't like how complicated Briefings in Arma2 became. I find the Briefings in HTML format in Arma and Ofp much easier to use and more clearly laid out :( -
Basic Briefing howto
zwobot replied to Mike84's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Ah yeah forgot about the .rpt Indeed it contains some Briefing related information and I was able to restore the briefing itsself. I had forgotten to remove a bracket after trying to get markers to work in the briefing and the stringtable.xml (do you happen to know how to insert markers and line breaks in a multilanguage briefing with a stringtable?). Thanks for your help so far IndeedPete. The original problem with the Briefing being skipped still exists though. -
Basic Briefing howto
zwobot replied to Mike84's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I added it but it did not help. My briefing is broken now anyway since I switched from stringtable.csv to stringtable.xml - it doesn't even appear in the preview in the mission editor. But I don't think this should have an influence on the mission starting right away after the intro. Do I need to call anything apart from the briefing in the init.sqf? -

In only have CfgMusic and CfgRadio in the description.ext Nothing about briefings or debriefings. -
Basic Briefing howto
zwobot replied to Mike84's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
My Briefing in a Singleplayer Mission is being skipped after the Intro and the mission starts right away. How can I prevent this :confused: I have a basic intro script, at the end of it I'm destroying the camera with the standard commands: _camera cameraEffect ["terminate", "back"] camDestroy _camera exit However I have to insert endMission "End1" for the intro to stop on it's own. Without the endMission command I have to end the intro manually (skip it with Spacebar). Well in either case the Briefing does not appear prior to the mission instead the Mission begins right away... -
Mh, I can only say I've never heared of such a file before. Which server 'advertised' the file?
-
There was or still is a VON (Voice Over Net - a built in Teamspeak so to speak) feature in the game but it is only active when you play MP via DirectPlay if I'm not mistaken. But hardly any server uses DirectPlay (they use Sockets instead) so the VON in Operation Flashpoint is paractically non existant. The links to the sideChat commands etc. I posted above can only be used by mission designers, you cannot use them yourself as a player in a multiplayer game so you are stuck to only using the text channels and rely on an external program like Teamspeak or Mumble for voice communication in the game.
-
Never heared of such a config file. If you are afraid of cheaters you play on the wrong server(s) with wrong people...

Global channel (white): every unit can hear/read text sent in this channel Side channel (blue): only units on the same side as the transmitting unit can hear/read the text (e. g. all east or west units) Group channel (green): all units in the same group can hear/read Vehicle channel (yellow): only units in the same vehicle can hear/read Direct channel: only units close to the transmitting unit can read the sent text The channels are very important in multiplayer. In a coop mission squad leaders would talk in the blue side channel for example while the squadmembers (no leaders) would only write in the green groupchat channel to keep the text chat free for inter-squad communications. The channels are also important for mission designers because you can send text or radio voices through each channel with the following commands: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/sideChat http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/globalChat http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/groupChat http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/vehicleChat http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/sideRadio http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/globalRadio http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/groupRadio http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/vehicleRadio
