we released it as a public beta out of kindness, just dont expect us to cater for everyone, i for one am fed up of mountians of US addons out there and would rather see british units being released. Saying that Col Klink has a half done yank version but doesnt know when he can finish it due to the amount of work still to do on the mod. And its still unsure if were going to release a ground attack version to public, but theres definatley gonna be oe in the mod, the GR3, you might have to wait till then...<span id='postcolor'> No problem, I fully understand and don't expect you to disregard the theme of your MOD just to cater to our needs.  The only thing that upset me was the remark that there were "enough US addons", that "this addon doesnt need to be americanized", and things of that nature.  Naturally, everyone wants an aircraft that they are familiar with, usually from their own military force.  You guys aren't making a US MOD however, and that's understandable.  Just don't use "too many US addons" as an excuse... simply say that your mod is not involved in making those types of addons. Okay that's all I have to say anymore in regards to requests for the USMC Harrier.  To get back on topic, thanks again, this is really awesome.  I have a question--does opening the nose cone to "check the radar" have a purpose other than just eyecandy?  Are there any scripts that either are, can, or will be connected to it?

They aren't the only army, so why does every addon made have to be converted into the US stuff and end up as yet another one on the pile. BTW: i think it's unfair when the US people say britians army cant be good when it has all that crap equipment then the US go buying our "crap" equipment. I just dont think this special addon needs to be made un-special just becuase i minority of people see fit to americanise everything.<span id='postcolor'> the truth of the matter is, a LARGE portion of OFP players are from the US, so we tend to like seeing US versions of vehicles that our military actually uses (such as the AV-8 Harrier). in addition to that, if i remember correctly, the Operation Flashpoint game involves conflict between US and RUSSIAN units. We are accustomed to playing with the US and Soviet soldiers/vehicles/aircraft, and therefore have come to expect addons for these two countries. That being said, i DO want to thank you for making this Harrier. It is an excellent addon, especially for a beta, and I find every feature on it to be flawless. However, rather than decline to make a USMC version simply because you don't want it to be "Americanized", why not retexture one and let us use it? Since nobody has made a large pack of high quality British ground units to use in conjunction with the Harrier, I find it to be pointless to have a British Harrier being flown by US soldiers involved in a US war against the Soviets... That being said, thanks again for the addon and I hope you will reconsider making a US version of the Harrier because I would very much appreciate one and I know that a large population of the OFP community would like one as well. You may tell us to "reskin it ourselves", but I honestly don't think that anyone can texture an aircraft as good as you guys did on your Harrier. Thanks again for the addon!

you've GOTTA make a flying tigers one, PLEASE!! the Flying Tigers P-40 is my favorite WW2 aircraft and I'd hate to see all this work go into a P-40 with no Flying Tigers version. i'd greatly appreciate one oh, and don't forget to put "Liz" on the side of the aircraft. she has a special significance to me heheh.

Whenever I put in my OFP cd and the Autorun splash screen pops up... the splash screen comes up twice. The exact same splash screen, but two of them come up instead of just one to where i have to close one of them and then click "play" on the other one. This occurs with both OFP:Resistance and the regular OFP, and it also happens occasionally with other CD-based games such as Warcraft III and a few others. Any ideas as to what is causing this, and how I can eliminate it? Thanks.

Have fun, and apparently even the process of getting appointments to the SEAL program is very competitive.<span id='postcolor'> yeah, the cold water is tough. i don't recommend going out and swimming in freezing cold water though. once you catch hypothermia, you become more susceptible to getting it again. the water during training will be cold, almost to the point of being unbearable, but the instructors won't let you suffer any permanent damage as a result of the cold. however, if you go out on your own and try to be a "tough guy" and swim around in cold water, you might cause yourself irreparable damage. concentrate more on getting yourself in top physical shape, and developing a mindset that won't let you quit it's that mindset that will get you through the training.

good luck on whatever you decide to do, but make sure you're well-informed and make sure it's what you really want to do. i also advise you to pick one or the other--either Navy or Army. Branch changing is very difficult, and you'll have to play "catchup." And, should you actually get into Delta Force, you wouldn't leave to become a SEAL. By the time you get into Delta Force you'll be old and experienced in your field, and too valuable to just leave and go become a SEAL. If you want Delta, go Army. If you want SEAL, go Navy. Pick one and run with it. as for what it takes to get in... determination and persistence. anyone in decent physical shape can make it through the physical aspect of it. the workouts aren't that hard if you sit down and look at them one at a time. it's everything combined that wears trainees down and causes them to quit. you are the only one that can determine either your success or failure. to get in shape, do lots of running and swimming. also, do lots of pushups, pullups, flutter kicks, and situps. lifting weights helps as well, but dont try to show off by lifting 50000 pounds one time and calling it a workout. do medium weights with extremely high repetitions. lastly, make sure you build up your confidence and convince yourself that you will succeed. remember, thousands of guys have made it before you. some were better than you are, some were worse, but they all succeeded because of their motivation and desire to become a SEAL/Delta operator. feel free to PM me, ICQ me (146028413), or email me (navyeel@hotmail.com) if you have any specific questions regarding SEALs/Delta or specific ways to train. good luck and remember, the only easy day was yesterday!!

the basic Marine definitely has the upper hand when it comes to being well-trained. as far as basic (non-specialized) training goes, i'd say the Marines are the best. every Marine knows how to run, shoot, and swim, and in combat, these are very valuable assets. as for what the Army does... the Army is the premier ground fighting force. they do the "ground-pounding" so to speak. the majority of US Special Operations Forces are part of the Army. The Army has Rangers, Special Forces (aka Green Berets), the 160th SOAR, and the 1st SFOD Delta (aka Delta Force). as for the Navy and Air Force, the Navy has Navy Sea, Air, and Land (SEAL) Teams. the Air Force has Pararescue Jumpers as well as various special operations aviation units. as far as what each unit does... Army Rangers are trained to "kill people and blow stuff up". plain and simple. Rangers are the gung-ho, fearless, high testosterone-level, super-Hooah Army soldiers. Army Special Forces (Green Berets) are trained to basically go into a foreign country and build up relations with its resistance fighters. they are well-educated and well-trained, and must be able to operate on their own for weeks and months at a time. the 160th SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment) is the Army's special ops helicopter unit. they are tasked with providing helicopter support and transport for various US special operations units. their aircraft include MH-47 Chinooks, numerous variations of MH-60 Blackhawks, and AH/MH-6 Little Birds. 1st SFOD Delta, commonly referred to as "Delta Force," is the Army's premier counter-terrorist and hostage rescue unit. Delta operators are all quick, agile, intelligent, and expert marksmen. Air Force Pararescue Jumpers are mainly combat rescuers. they often go into enemy territory alone to recover downed pilots or other missing personnel. Air Force special operations aviation units include aircraft such as the MH-53 Pave Low, the MH-130, and the AC-130. Navy SEALs are the Navy's covert unit. trained to operate on "Sea, Air, or Land", they specialize in unconventional warfare, primarily in maritime environments, and are well-known for their ability to work completely undetected. Well, this basically sums up US Special Operations Forces. if i've left anything out, please let me know

if you want to fly helicopters, join the Army. if you want to fly the latest in aircraft technology and call everyone by their first name, join the Air Force. if you want to fly the COOL jets, join the Navy. if you want to... Ugh! Hoorah! Snakes for breakfast! ....join the Marines. in all seriousness though, all the branches are good. it really boils down to what you personally want to do, and what your lifestyle is like. i wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do!

Thanks so much for all your kind remarks, it really means a lot. As for the Blackhawk being a "crash hawk"... I have mixed emotions. My father's crash was caused by a common system failure that Sikorsky KNEW about at the time, but was reluctant to fix. So could my father's life have been saved? Possibly, but it's not worth dwelling over it. However, I would hope that over the past few decades the UH-60 has been improved to the point that such fatal failures are far less common. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, but it's a shame to see service members killed at home, especially when the error is due to mechanical failures.

exactly 17 years ago my father was killed while piloting his UH-60 Blackhawk. Â March 11, 1986. Â Two crew members were also killed. Â I suppose this just isn't a good time of the year for Blackhawk pilots to fly... Â Â Â May they all rest in peace.

far from the "best" plane in world war 2, my FAVORITE plane is by far the P-40. it just has that basic airplane look that looks cool, and it could also take quite a bit of abuse. but as far as the "best" plane, i'd probably say the P-38 Lightning (at least in the pacific theatre). it was fast, maneuverable, had a good armament, and is just plain cool looking!!!
