    Landing a helo vs. jumping

It all depends on your personal preference. Airborne ops usually work better for one or two people whereas if you have an entire squad you're trying to land, I'd recommend using air assault tactics. That way, as soon as you land, your entire team is together and in full force. They don't have to run around trying to link up and regroup because the helo landed them all together. In addition, they are able to provide covering fire to allow the helo to depart. I'd love to see fast roping implemented on the uh-60, ch-47, and mi-17, as i think it would increase the use of transport choppers. maybe make it where the gunner has to use the action menu to lower the rope once the helo has slowed down enough and if the pilot is going too fast then the people fall off or if he's too high then they fall off the bottom of the rope. then once they're in, the gunner either retracts the rope or drops it. that would make flying transport choppers so much more fun.

    Game balance air vs ground

i say the air/ground is balanced in ofp. stinger missiles are subsonic and therefore can be dodged *fairly* easily by helicopters, all they have to do is make a last second flight adjustment and the missile will miss. in addition, in real life aircraft have chaff and flare to help them avoid seeking missiles. now how easily does an aircraft go down in ofp? one rpg? MAYBE two? you can take down a helo with your machine guns? now THAT'S unrealistic. most aircraft would be killed by an rpg i admit, but it still depends on where the aircraft is hit. the chances of small arms fire taking out a helo are slim to none, especially when referring to the blackhawk or apache. not sure how much you REALLY know about these aircraft but they are tough and can withstand a LOT of abuse, even rpg strikes. as for the radar, i feel it's realistic. and as you gain elevation, new targets DO pop up on your radar. not sure what game the rest of you have been playing but elevation does play a role in ofp's radar. as for not being able to hit anything with the cannon on the jets, i suggest you practice because i know a lot of people who can take out a fast moving uaz in one pass with the a10's cannon. i admit that the vehicles in this game aren't "perfect", but then again half of you don't know what the vehicles are really like. sure you can look up stuff on the internet but who can't? rather than posting common knowledge and statistics id like to see some personal experiences come into play when referring to the inaccuracy of weapons and vehicles in flashpoint. thanks.

How comes the hellfires can't target helos?

what's the point of attacking an aircraft with a hellfire? that's like destroying a single story house with a nuke. it's just overpowering. you don't need that kind of armor penetration to take out an aircraft. and besides that, the hellfire is made to destroy ground targets, not aircraft. it's not maneuverable like an AA missile. some of u say "hows it hit a fast moving tank?" computer calculations. the tank is moving at speed 'x' so the missile aims distance 'y' ahead of the tank in order to hit it dead on. hellfire can destroy any tank in a single blow (in real life) so why waste it on a weak helicopter? just pop it a few times with the chain gun and it's toast.

to find its size, right click on it then click "properties" and it should give you the dimensions in pixels. then open our control panel in the forums, and type the URL into the space for your avatar.

Best drivers for geforce 4 ti 4400

Yes viewdistance CAN be set in the game, in the options menu under video options. And Direct3D T&L will give you better graphics performance as far as light and textures, but could possibly slow down gameplay. However, seeing as how you have a Gf4 4400, I wouldn't worry about it. Gf4's work well under high performance settings so I would leave the T&L on... make sure you turn it on in the Flashpoint Preferences as well as in the game. If it's still running slow, turn your terrain setting to High or Normal (still looks great). Also decrease viewdistance if you must, and in your flashpoint preferences, decrease the amount of lights/shadows that you have. Good luck!

Best drivers for geforce 4 ti 4400

haha i finally found your post, Mora2 Â Â All of my drivers are 2742 (4.13.01.2742, to be specific). Â Dunno much about all these different detonator drivers people are using, but my current one works fine, so I'll stick with it for now. Â (If it's not broken, don't fix it! Â Feel free to ICQ me, Mora, and maybe we can get your game running faster. Â ICQ# --> 146028413 Â Also keep in mind that my view distance is somewhere between 1000-1100... that helps improve game speed as well. Â Besides, when are you going to attack something that's two kilometers away?? Â If you are then it's most likely with a tracking weapon and you don't need to see the enemy anyway. Â Â Just my 2 cents... Â Hope this helps

    Recommended tuning suggestions

Okay I get anywhere from 990-1120 on the benchmark test. Â Here are my specs: PIII -- Â 550mhz 384 ram Win 98se Gf4 4400 - 128mb All of my resolutions are set to 4096x4096 except for terrain... which I left at 1024x1024 (in-game setting of High). Â Viewdistance is set to around 1200, and I don't get any performance slow down other than the occasional "stutter" you get when you enter a new area. Â Now I would give a LOT for a high end 1ghz+ system, and it just appals me to hear people complain about this game's requirements. Â If I can play this game smoothly then anyone in the world should be able to, all you have to do is optimize your computer's settings for the game. Â Make sure ALL your drivers and software is up to date. Â Close any startup tasks that you don't need. Â Those of you who say "BIS screwed us over" obviously don't want to play this game, you just want to look for faults and point them out. Â Well I'm done for now cuz I have a resistance campaign to finish. EDIT: And just to make it clear, this is NOT a tweaked or overclocked system cuz I have NO idea how to do that lol. This is just a regular system that's up to date on its hardware and software

    Get your littlebird choppers here:

first of all i wanna say i like the little birds, especially their handling.  not too stiff, not too sensitive... very nice.  of course, i couldnt stop my post without a little constructive criticism   the nose is a bit long and looks real awkward when you look at it from the side...  also the helo itself is a bit large.  if you've ever seen one in real life, they're TINY!  also the high speed is a bit high... they are slow choppers, nowhere near as fast as the blackhawk or chinook. in game i can sustain a speed of about 300 though. i suggest slowing it down a LOT. one last thing is some of the window textures seem uneven like they stick out on the edges (especially on the top).  dunno if this is just a problem im having or if anyone else has seen this?  other than that, great job.  i like the sound and model and, like i said earlier, the handling is amazing. thanks.

    Public master server for ofp:r

Yes, I agree that All Seeing Eye is better than Gayspy, but is that a reason not to buy resistance?? I mean most of the time, at least for me, there are a set number of servers you play on. Most people dont just get on and say "hmm i think ill go look for a random server to play on today...". All the stuff about a favorites folder you can already do on ofp, just put the IP's in your hosts.txt folder. A buddy list... what for? Once you're in the game you are with all your buddies anyway, and theres nobody on the internet who doesnt have some form of instant messaging, so it's not that hard to communicate with them outside of the game. I dont have a problem with no ASE support because there are only about 5 servers i play on anyway, so i dont see a point in looking up every available ofp server in the world just for the heck of it. Just my two cents though...

you've already put in that much effort to make the body--why not finish it completely?  thats the only negative side to addons is that so many people rush to be the first ones to release a unit, but they dont finish the unit or make it as good as it could be. as for the helo itself, it looks good, but im still anxious to see the tales of war little bird in action.

Will ofp resistance manage addons better?

what about if the addons/mods were server-side? such as, you join a dedicated server, and the mods are loaded from the specific mission to your computer for the duration of the game? then if you wanted a mod for single player you could only install the ones you absolutely need, maybe each mod in a different folder and it loads it as you open that specific mission file?

Us army to release first person shooter

okay first off, if this is being sponsored by the US army, then YES it is to help with recruiting. that is a fact. but what's so wrong with that?? obviously trying to drive people to "be all they can be" didnt work... everyone is so selfish these days and cares about getting rich rather than selflessly serving their country. what else is there to do but to pay for your college tuition, offer you free housing and benefits, or make video games to help with recruitment? almost everyone plays video games in one form or another, so why not use something that will grasp peoples' attention? true that war is nothing like a game, but going to a civilian job just to bring in money is nothing like war either. if this game can motivate you to JOIN the military, then the military will give you the training you need to succeed in real-life hostile scenarios. this game isnt expected to train you to be an army ranger or a navy seal. its simply to provide entertainment and to draw interest into the military community. army recruitment is and has been WAY down for the past few years. why? because people are finding that it's so easy to "get rich" without having to sacrifice their life or work hard for it. so say all you want about "its more army propaganda" or "the US never did anything for [insert your european country here]", but this game is going to be good and if it helps to recruit people into the military, then more power to it and ill be glad to have more selfless americans fighting for freedom.
