    Modiefied config file - timeout

Other computers on the lan had 1.45, but no problems. As far as network goes, players that connect to my lan through the web are often from the same broadband network, and it is usually later in the evening, and can mean high speed transfers. One player (with the lowest ping), never turned yellow in the briefing, but got the message while we were waiting. Also the mission had to be recieved by the clients, and with a few sound samples, it was around 260kb, which may account for the minute wait. But then again, it was most likley other cable users, who could download over 1mb in one minute. If i remeber anything else i will post it here. Must sleep now...

    Config.bin modifications

You just have to try your best to counter any sort of attack which could be performed.  It's unfortunate that there are elements in our community who wouldn't think twice about investing time in developing such horrible things.<span id='postcolor'> This is just an idea, but if folks can quickly develop tools to get into the opflash code, what if some folks could make a counter-measure program while BIS works on an official solution. The idea is a client side program that can read the latest config and compare it to the installed one, and check it randomly during a game. It could maybe connect to a server with a message like "xxx use Authorised Config Checker" or whatever, and if it detects config alterations after everything is loaded it would disconnect with "Authorised Config Checker detected changes" or whatever. In not a program maker, so its just an idea.

I have a cable connection, and the other players except one had pings around 60ms, but still showed the message. A few times it happened while waiting for others to load in briefing, so maybe its just that, a time out (?). Also, to see officially encrypted and signed versions of things like Satchels pack would be fantastic (..drool)!

thanks speeeedy, The stuff about people editing config bins is a concern, i was hoping that wasn't what caused the "timeout" message...

Check out the official command refrence for a list of camera scripting commands, and have a look for camera scripting tutuorials at Operation Flashpoint Editing Center. With camera commands and a bit of creativity you can make some really cool stuff.

Good times had by all when playing ofp

Once i was playing on a lan, defending a shilka from a lone human black op. I was standing on top of the everon castle, with my troops down below where the shilka was. The black op flew in by chopper and ditched it over a forest. I saw the general area his parachute landed in, but after another ten minutes i had no idea what direction he was coming from. As it was dark i shot some flares to look around. After they were gone, i shot one round over the top of the tower to the ground, to see if i was in the right pos. That one bullet, fired at random, went straight into the head of the black op, crawling through the bushes below. We had a good laugh... Nagual B

Is anyone going to boycott bis add-ons?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (denoir @ Mar. 03 2002,19:02)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Ask yourself this: What would you think of BIS, if they in patch 1.5 removed the mission editor and then gave it out to selected 'pro' mappers? I guess that you would not be happy since you most probably want to use the mission editor. The same thing goes for the folks who wanted to create models. BIS promised a release to the public, then withdrew it. Note that BIS has every legal and moral right to remove the mission editor. They worked har on it for years. It would be benificial to the community if only good mappers would be allowed to do the mapping. Would you be happy about it? I think not.<span id='postcolor'> The editor has been released, do you seriously think that there is even a remote chance it will be taken away... no. Oxygen has not been released, that is an actual fact, something that does have to be dealt with. Now, you can reasonably debate this subject as much as possible, but it will not likely change the actual situation. Sure, its a big deal, but does that mean we should spend our attention complaining, not for me thanks. I was very much loooking forward to Oxygen, hoping everyday since the end of feb dateline was set, checking websites everyday for news, like a lot of others probably. I cant wait to use Visitor as well, with a few projects in the pipeline. I was disapointed, sure, but who the fuck cares! . Self importance and self-pity are totally based on the preconcieved idea that we are more important or less important that anyone else, and that our actions are more/less important than others. If it matters enough to someone to boycott BIS, then fine for them, but its their self importance that is at work. Is anyone going to boycott bis add-ons?

C'mon folks, The great debate about the BIS tools has generated alot of good points for both points of view, but some hard facts stick more than others. The day before the news about oxygen came out, folks were happy to complain about tank speeds and other things, but everyone loved BIS and opflash. The next day, people are talking about boycotting BIS?, not wanting to enjoy Resistance or Indepence lost? Why, because a decent company made a valid decision concerning years of hard work on their part. People who want to fuck off flashpoint and boycott BIS are at the height of self-importance and the depths of self-pity. It takes an insane amount of energy to maintain those states, and as hard as it may be, that very same energy could be used to work on any of the positive ideas, such as a mod alliance or forming a small team of mates and applying for oxygen (easier to say than do of course). Demanding that BIS gives you something when they don't have to give it, or are not ready to give it, and then boycotting them and opflash as a result is a pretty fucked way to spend your day. V1.45-tells me i have modified config

Tonight 3 people connected to my server at different times while I was hosting a lan game. After varying amounts of time the "playerXXX uses modified config file" message popped up with a ding. The message continued to pop up repeatedly, usually around 5 to 10 mins apart. I have no idea what was causing the message to repeat or appear a few minutes after the player connects..... Edit: The players were unknown to me, they joined while lan was in game, only one joined a game later but never readied up or responeded to anything, so i had no way of checking about addons.
