And a really good car will beat the 250, but loose to larger sports bikes. Two stroke 250cc road bikes like a suzuki rgv have heaps of power, like 100km+ an hour in the second gear (out of 6 gears), but those bikes are also death traps when folks dont know how to handle them.

hmmm, i didnt say i lifted road bikes over my head. Dirt bikes are another thing. It is a common rule to not ride a bike that you cant lift, as other wise you can be pinned in the middle of nowhere. And lol, a decent road bike weighs around 230kg with a full tank. Not to be lifted over the head, but i can be lifted off ones body, or pushed, dragged ect. Weight is only a small part of the total picture of why bikes would be used. And what makes you think the military would always be riding on the type of tracks dirt bike / enduro riders ride on, i mean they would travel on all sorts of terrrain, so dragging bikes out of mud is only a concern in, well, muddy terrain. And yes manually moving a bike is hard on the body, but so what, lots of things are lol. You asked why they would be used in the militiary, and the simple answer is : because they are useful, they can do things that feet or cars can't. That shouldn't be so hard to see. Also, i cant view the pages your link goes to, maybe later.

And like someone mentioned earlier, if your stuck you can pick up some offroad bikes and put it over fences or obstacles, pretty handy.<span id='postcolor'> I dont mean to be rude but Harleys are NOT fast, certainly not durable and they do use a lot petrol. You would not be able to lift a motorcycle at all! Have you ridden one and got stuck in the mud. Believe me, I've tried to lift enduromotorcycles out of the mud. Its nearly impossible and the endurobikes are made for competition. That means they are lightweight, but we are still talking about 110-130 kg. A Harley Davidson is a LOT MORE heavy - imagine lifting that! Besides, Harley Davidsons do not make offroad/enduro/atv motorcycles, so why would anyone use them in the gulf?<span id='postcolor'> Well compared to say a kawasaki ninja they are not are fast, but they are bikes, so they are fast, and a hell of a lot faster than foot. As for lifting, yes ive lifted dirt bikes over high fences, ive lifted large roadbikes off my body after crashes, ive dragged bikes thru mud and dragged and pushed bikes for kilometers with no petrol. They are versatile. There are all sorts of harleys, i doubt the army are riding around on 1340cc choppers. Sure harley are heavier than dirt bikes, but thats no reason to not use them. They can be reliable (and off course not be), and very sturdy. Have you ever ridden a road bike off road?, ive maintained high speeds for long rides on dirt roads on a road bike, with my wife and a heaps and heaps of gear on the back. Road / larger bikes can carry alot of stuff for their size. See in afghansitan how spec forces were riding donkeys around, sometimes alternative transport is appropriate.

Great work, this thing is amazing. A problem i noticed: i filled the boat with ai, and was creeping up from the lower decks with a socom, but the ai could shoot me from anywhere. Enemy on the helo pads or in different rooms could just shoot thru walls and floors and kill me everytime. Aside from that, this is very nice.

A knife would be good, more variety is always good. Theres no way it could ruin the game, and if it were to be an addon then it would barely get used in MP. Engagement ranges in opflash vary wildy, there is definately no set range, things are dynamic, missions are dynamic...anything can happen. A bayonet would be more useful though i imagine. And there is no set mission type, especially now with ofpR there is more civ type missions, and more situations where a knife would be fun or useful or appropriate.

Excellent, looks great

Like ran said, your death will get you at any time, any place. There is no need to to be afraid of it at all, there is nobody in the world who can guarantee anyone will survive the day. Realizing that death is stalking you can be a very sobering thought. While riding motorcycles in an urban setting its very common to have serious close calls, at least one for each ride. Usually many for each ride. After a while you get use to living with the awareness of impending death.

How can i tell if team is dead?
Nagual replied to Rexxenexx's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Dont get discouraged by choppers not doing what you want, they have caused all mission makers grief at one point or another. Ive used that method for helo pickup before, and usually works well, but can be broken somehow when human leader dies but leadership is not transferred to next player. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> "_x assignascargo helo1" foreach units playergrp "[_x] ordergetin true" foreach units playergrp "unassignvehicle _x" foreach units playergrp <span id='postcolor'> works well for getting ai to board / disembark helo. But im not sure if i can explain how it works -

Nagual replied to Rexxenexx's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
For mp you can put the "playergrp = group this" stuff in the init of all player units in the group (so if any, including leader, are disabled, it will still work). Then </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> ("not alive _x" count units playergrp) == count units playergrp <span id='postcolor'> will activate the player death trigger. -
I think one thing holding ofp back, especially with ofp:R, is that it needs an uber computer to play it without "resource lag". Alot of gamers are still running sub 1ghz cpus, and even less than 500mhz. I will keep playing it till i experience everything it can offer, and that wont come even close to happening unitl im running at least 3.5 ghz cpu ect (using 1ghz at moment). So alot a folks just cant play it a comfy level, unless they turn down everything to the point of it looking very ugly (i once saw it run on a 500mhz celeron, with 16mb onboard intel video (lol), it looked so incredibly bad that only the hardest of hardcore could possibly enjoy it at that level.) It will be a while till home pcs can play with max units, max view, max resoultion, max terrain, with smooth gameplay, so it still has alot of undiscovered potential. In a year or so it will be like a new game (eg CE3, Invasion1944, Operation Vietnam).

i reckon motorcycles would be nice. An '80s style kawasaki Z series would be nice, or a good BMW off-road bike. And maybe a small multi-purpose harley for spec op missions. But bikes really need fast acceleration, even dodgy old bikes get from 0-100km in a few seconds, and can brake to 0 from ridiculous speeds in extremely short spaces.

When you build an Ãœber-ramp the car tends to slide. You also need to accelerate in a good way. I broke my back on that, until I realized that I could get a plane to push the car. That, I can tell you is no easy thing to perform. <span id='postcolor'> I am yet to try the plane accelerator, but have seen pics, and like them , i will try it soon i hope. That would be a nice one for MP.

Yes i used scripting, but making a ramp stand higher than the ramp before it with setpos is a form of scripting too. So an uber ramp is the result of scripting, and look back, not everyone could do that to start with.<span id='postcolor'> Well, moving or not - you don't need any skills (but some basic scripting knowledge) to do it. It works everytime, as all positions are fixed (maybe only relative to another object, but still, there's no way the player could fall off because of a wrong move). With the Ãœberramp or other tricks (like the plane accelerator) you still need some driving skills, to hit the ramp in the right angle, to get your acceleration just right, etc. That is what people like me like about this thread... skillfull players doing crazy stuff, not scripting wizards showing off. Your pictures aren't fake (i.e. faked with a graphics programm), and they look way cool! But neither are they stunts.<span id='postcolor'> Well i agree in general about skill based stunts being the best, but alot of stunts involve max accelleration onto ramp to travel the max distance the height /size of ramp + speed of addon car allows. The hardest part about that is not crashing into that bloody ramp base I think stunts like 360 (both between objects and sideways ) need driving skill, but not jumping over a ramp. Timing based stunts are also tricky, but its fairly easier to get into the rythms of setpos-ed flying objects. I was also not trying to show off (and i am not a scripting wizard lol), just having some fun within the context of Explosive Stunt Clowns. There is more to cessna stunt than meets the eye, it is possible to be on plane, shoot pilot, and get in plane before it crashes. Would that be a stunt?

Ballistic addon studios site updated
Nagual replied to Tigershark's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yeah we've had this demo / concept mission idea going for a little while, so people can play with the addon as soon as they install it (some folks don't use the editor). Tigershark gave me permissions to post some beta pics, so there they are. I will post a few more pics once the demo mission is further developed. And i agree, TS needs to get in here and tell us about this lovely bird . -

Dynamic range audio package for resistance v1.75
Nagual replied to PitViper's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Good work, its nice to hear some of those sounds again. To avoid mp problems, its works to use Bigpoppas method (cant find exact thread).: Just copy RES folder, rename it to "DynamicRange", install new config and .pbo into that dir. Then make a new shortuct, and in properties put: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> -nosplash -mod=DynamicRange <span id='postcolor'> So it is easy to play with normal config or dynamic range. Good Work -

Guys, guys, First, Albert, the pictures are no fake, they are ingame screen shot of MOVING vehicles. Yes i used scripting, but making a ramp stand higher than the ramp before it with setpos is a form of scripting too. So an uber ramp is the result of scripting, and look back, not everyone could do that to start with. The "where are you" is as simple as my second guy being on the ground, so i guess he really was wondering where i was. The cessna was moving. In the helo pic the soldiers are attached to the helo, they move with it, it is not a fixed picture (could easily be used in a mission). When it comes down to it i used scripting as i didnt want to used the other stunt method: config editing. Please dont tell me that everyone can easily replicate long range jumps that can only be performed my making / editing addon configs. That is even further out there than scripting. Well, i will look into a few more straight forward stunts.
