  1. Oblivion springs to mind where they couldn't improve the frame rate so they axed real time shadows, thined out the forest, had pop-up at a short distance and the graphics where tuned down.

Oblivion has simple flaws in engine that cause frame rate drops. For example indoors lag sometimes a lot more than outdoors (it seems culling feature is sometimes missing) and pathetic lods for foliage (hires and sprite only).

  2. In this game, I would much rather there be no artificial balancing and just pure realism. Since this is an small, communist, island nation, their army size would already be quite small in comparison to those of China, Russia, or even Korea and their technology would be quite low. Also, the Americans are coming from where....? Err - the United States. Their resource capabilities are much, much greater than that of NS so their tech, in comparison, would be much higher as well. We have to take that into consideration.

NS might be small but however if you look at Cypriot army for example, they have T-80s, BMP-3s, Mi-35s and modern gear for their troops wink_o.gif. A modernized T-72 with latest gizmos and ammunition would be fair addition and like it's said before, there doesn't need to be lots of them but just a few in campaign to create more challenge for Abrams crews.

Though I have beaten those two BIS M1A1 tanks with a T-72 in Blake's Band of Comrades mission 2 tounge2.gif.

  3. Exactly my thoughts, even if unused in the campaign for "NS being too poor to get modern russian stuffs" reasons , i hope the NS side will have access, at least for mission making, to some modern russian equipment to offer a bit more than "modern weapons and vehicles vs eighties tanks and weapons" scenarios.

Some modern russian equipment with the same BIS quality we have seen so far in the screenshots so far would be really great.

The latest video shows us Ka-50. That's pretty rare and modern unit so perhaps there will be another surprises smile_o.gif.

  4. Is the walking-in-vehicles even a planned feature? Will we be able to shoot from them even if we are fixed in them? (I.E. Drive-by shooting, using your weapon to shoot out of the vehicle, etc.)
These are not planned features for ArmA.

I found this very odd because VBS1 already has this feature quite nicely done. Oh well can't have everything confused_o.gif.

  5. Looks awesome. I would really like to see similar hires shots of the new greater view distance in action thumbs-up.gif. Only thing I hope now is that BIS makes proper LODs for every model like in Flashpoint so we don't have objects popping up and landscape turning into soup like in Oblivion.

  6. Current MacPros beat PCs price/performance-wise. Just check the stats and try to make a PC with same components and same price (essentially it's a PC, only the OSX is makes it a Mac :P). But when it comes to 1000$/€ gaming machine, PC is still the king.

  7. I have Creative MuVo 512Mb which I use for listening MP3s, WMAs etc. I also use it as an USB stick. I have no need for Ipod, MuVo is enough for a simple guy like me wink_o.gif.

  8. Doesn't look like molly cam to me huh.gif

To me neither. Material is different, there's a small collar in AA vest and Molle has more places for attached gear.

It might be locally producted vest, something that BIS invented to make the enemy soldiers look a bit more professional wink_o.gif. The whole Sahrani is fictional so I don't a reason why there can't be some small fictional gear.

  9. A deserved victory for Italy this time. Although I'm pretty dissappointed that Italy went all the way to final after that Australia match. Also those referee bribings in Italy's biggest league... just sad confused_o.gif.

Don't get me wrong. I like when they play good football like in this match but latest events haven't really raised my respect towards them.

  10. Just tried it and... well it's pretty strange game but I liked it biggrin_o.gif. Like said before levels are pretty straightforward but I don't really mind as long as level design is good and stays fresh thumbs-up.gif.

  11. The hardware requirements: the game at e3 was running on a Dell xps pc running in sli dual video mode (2x GeForce 7800 GTXs) 2 gig system ram and a Pentium D 840, a dual-core CPU running at 3.2GHz.

Now towards the end of the video the view distance is talked about and it is said that the view distance is set to 1200 meters and it could be changed but it will go "slow".

Only 1200 meter view distance with a machine of that caliber huh.gif? I surely hope that we can use longer view distances than 1200 meters with middle range computers confused_o.gif.

  12. There is only two grid sizes, 100m & 1000m

    Negative.

When you increase map size to 25.6km x 25.6km from 12.8km x 12.8km you'll see that grids increase too. So the grids in ArmA screenshots can be and probably are 256m x 256m.

Try a_lone_wolf's WRP double ot WRP quad addons and you'll see wink_o.gif.
