    Addons at ease!

I think the idea itself is very very good. However I have my doubts about realisation. A few weeks ago, there was a discussion about including certain addons in missions used in the 'Electronic Sports League'. The result was that no addons should be included, as the current presence of the league maps on public-servers is one of the reason, the league has so many clans joining. It is a common fact that maps with addons are almost never played online, as there are way too less people playing which have them installed. So basically for the ESL, this would mean that the league maps would rarely be played public, resulting in the loss of a good way to recruit new players and clans for the sports league. Now with certain top-notch addons being advertised directly from www.flashpoint1985.com, chances are increasing that more and more people will be playing online that have at least some of these 3rd party addons installed, making it possible to use them in ESL-specific missions. The problem i see though is about the standard of these AAE classified addons. There are many very excellent addons out there; many of them having a much more polished look than BIS' own models that shipped with the game. However, in my oppinion AAE addons should follow a certain guideline. They should be balanced with the rest of the game units and also there should be an even distribution of West- and East-based models. In the ESL, there was one thing avoided by not agreeing on the usage of addons: The question which addons should get in, and which not? The problem simply is that this community spawned a shitload of addons, so to say. There are so many talented modellers, skinners and coders here, that we can for sure list ourselves on one of the top ranks on a ranking based on the quantity of custom addons. It will be a hard decission to decide on only a few of them to enter the special new inner circle of AAE addons. I'm also with Suchey here, I personally would like to see things focused on mulitplayer compatibility, as well. Some addons are great for singleplayer, but can hardly be balanced in multiplayer. Because of this, I fear that it will be a tough thing to decide on which addons being pimped and which not.

Mhh the regular forum seems down. Is there any progress, CATSHIT? Also what's the status of your soviets soldiers?

    Current conflict usmc

The m16 performs very well. I love it. Probably known already, but I noticed that the scope is a little off center, as the shots mostly hit a little too high compared to where the sight aims. Also, the color of the model seems a little green'ish, rather than black. Except for these details the weapon is the best m16 I have seen so far in OFP. Is there a chance, you could join forces with BAS, so they would manage to use that m16 sound for their weapons, while you could help in developing the troops for any upcoming Marines Pack?

    Behind the scenes...

I have his nickname, but there are at least two different real names, i already got from official sources. I even tried with adding his rank to the login. It is really annoying to fit all this together to get the appropriate login information. Why are you torturing us this way? We are already on the bottom because you declared the buggy 1.91b final. Don't hurt us even more. On the other hand....I like pain.

    Operation flashpoint 2

I'd take a czech war scenario over yet another vietnam game any day. Every second publisher is going for at least one vietnam game already. (vietcong, men of valour, ...) In the end, it will turn out to be a nice game for sure, but I would really prefer some other scenario than Vietnam.

I have a nice idea of an EAST vs. WEST conflict in the mid-eighties around a fictional island group. I guess that would be a great idea for a mod based on OFP2.

    1.91 final

We have to face it. OFP was delivered to us as a beta product, now it ends while still being beta so to speak. I could name at least a dozen major problems with OFP, but I don't think that BIS will listen anyways. I just hope that with the next game, whenever that will be out, the support for the community will be more lasting, and that the game will ship in a stable and solid bug-free shape. If not, I have my doubts that they will ever be fixed with a later patch. We might get nice looking bicycles or WW1 airplanes, but for sure not important bugfixes that would help the game in terms of balance, artificial intelligence or physics.

Poll: will you get ofp's xbox edition?

Now with the current poll result, I - if I were BIS - would rethink my strategy and maybe focus on what I have left of my existing community, instead of investing time and money in a project, which would need it's whole new community. What's the point in loosing most of the current fanbase within the next 12 months, by trying to create another xbox-based community that for sure will not grow to the size of the pc community. Just a hint...

    1.91 final

It is as if they'd stop right in the middle... They should still focus on OFP. It has a come a long way, but now, one year before we might see anything new, they totally abandon the game. It really is a shame. I think there is still so much potential. Even a new Resistance-like expansion pack would sell well if it contains some code improvements and some new units. They could even include a smaller collection of fan-made addons. Players will buy such a pack for sure. Just think about it, BIS: It would be wise to invest a little more time and money in your current community and then have a large number of enthusiastic players at hand when your next game ships, instead of having to build up a fan-base from scratch again, because the previous one died due to a lack of updates and support to keep it together. I suggest that you rethink your chosen path and return to your fans that supported you from the times even before the demo came out until the present day. We need you, and you certainly need us. The majority would gladly wait 1-2 more months for your next game, if you'd keep us happy with some small updates and maybe a new unit here and there until the release of that upcoming successor title. The work involved shouldn't even be that much, as you could reuse many of the units created for VBS, and maybe even implement some of the things you changed engine-wise. We - the community - would be very happy about further support, further addons and in generel more news and talk from your side, guys. Keep up the work you did for us in the past, just don't let it end like this. This community won't survive another year without anything new. Trust me!

    Interview with..

It's not a problem with the server, it is a problem with the game itself. Many people (not all) are getting time outs during play on a regular basis. The problem is that this only happens since the second last patch, and only for certain people. These people are getting the timeouts very often, though. Now with BIS discontinuing OFP, people like me are screwed, as we have to live with this game bug introduced with one the last betas.

I dont need another chopper or some nice and sexy looking combat units. A new engine is what OFP needs. Oh and great interview! <span id='postcolor'> Me neither, but I want at least a working stable netcode for multiplayer and voice-over-net fixed/tweaked for socket netcode. However, I won't mind new addons either. Hell I would even pay for them as long as they are official. I'm not even asking for a fix regarding sliding tanks etc., as I have given up on this long ago, but at least the game should be stable. For many people it isn't anymore, since 1.90. Â

    Interview with..

Nice interview, but I fear that OFP will losse a large majority of it's current fanbase, if there will be no more updates/addons. OFP 1.91 has serious issues with multiplayer. A large number of players get timeouts en masse, which didn't happen back in 1.85 times. Without a fix for this, many people might loose the interest. Furthermore, if the next game indeed is far in the future (at least a year) the community will be reduced to all but the diehard players because of no more updates till then. If it is really planned that the current 1.91beta will simply loosen the beta desigantion, with no further changes, this will be a catastrophy for many of us. The community has been waiting since mid-december for a decent new update. Letting us down now WILL come back to you sooner or later. There has been talk for months now regaring the 1.91b, with lots of feedback and smaller requests. Now they tell us it was all in vain. Well, my day is screwed. Thx. :-(

*** new official sound blaster live! drivers

I also have turbo 0, but the crackling is on the same reduced level for me, as with the previous drivers. No improvements, but on the otherhand things also haven't turned worse. Some crackling here and there (mostly with addons using very noisy engine sounds) but in generel on an acceptable level.
