If my comment made you feel that way I'm sorry. I really don't hate America. Actually I'm just chatting with a friend of mine from Georgia. I have issues with your current government. Friends?

    Democracy, a universal value?

Man is a social animal. The need for social contacts and being part of a social group is at least as big as the desire for making the own way. Being part of a social group is self-interested.

Oh I'm sure TBA knows alot about diplomacy, for example they like to play the "dis-unite Europe game", and they are quite good at it. This is just another instance of that game.

    Democracy, a universal value?

Question 1: In my opinion there is no such thing as universal values, except those that are biologically set. Like naturally we have a blocking mechanism that hinders us from purposely harming other human beings. This mechnism can be overridden of course and its not set in stone, but its part of all human beings. (The exception proves the rule ) Thats why killing someone for a selfish reason is considered bad in all cultures I know. So some biologically defined values are universal, but what we are discussing are culturally defined values. And those are by definition depending on the culture and society. Needs to be thought through in detail I guess but I think thats what it comes down to. Now question numero 2: If our way of life is right and over time we evolve into something else "The Islamic Republic of Europe", well then that's the way it goes. We can and will try to preserve our values. And I'm rather confident we will succeed, at least in the foreseeable future. The end doesn't justify the means, so brakeing our own values to protect them will just make them fall faster. A valid point tho is to make sure the people who join our nations actually participate in our society and the adapt at least the most basic of our values, as defined by constitution and law. As enlightned and liberal we may be, compared to other cultures, our values still have teeth.

    Favourite rocket launcher

That video has been discussed alot, many think it's fake. Personally I don't think the Javelin has enough explosives to waste a T72 like that.

It was taken (or given) from an US lab. That's what I meant. Not more, not less.

Do you even bother to read my posts? I hate to quote myself, but I have no other choice! Why should I show you evidence it was your president who gave the anthrax when I never made such a claim? Stop putting words into my mouth!

    The Iraq Thread 2

Noone claimed it was the US president who ordered the anthrax letters. All I said was: WMD given to terrorists: Iraq: 0 USA: 1 Who exactly "stole" the anthrax from the US labs - I got no idea. But I am well aware how the whole story suddenly disappeared from the news when it turned out it wasn't Al-Quaeda behind it, but a home-made threat.

    The Iraq Thread 2

So what was it? A rather unimportant piece of information, mentioned on like page 247 in the report? Or was it importand prove of Iraq being a threat aka smoking gun? If it wasn't importand then mentioning it in the orally report would blow it out of proportion. Im sure the the hawks wouldn't mind tho. You're confusing knowledge and speculation. Again. If you knew he was a clear and present threat you also knew _what_ he had and _where_ he had hidden it. Since nothing has been found yet it's safe to assume you did _not_ know where it was. So how can you claim you knew he was a clear and present danger? Better check your own WMD labs. Remember the anthrax letters?

In response to booradley60: I share the basical feeling you have but you are out of touch with reality. Â The rest of mother nature isn't actually living in peace together like in a Disney movie, more like survival of the fittest, constant changes and adaption and, well, alot of brutal killing and fighting for resources no matter what - just like we humans do. But we consider ourselves higher than animals and plants and we can use our brain for more than figureing out how to scratch our head.

    The Iraq Thread 2

I know its a futile attempt, but I just have to say something.... He was biased? How was he biased? Did he think Saddam is a nice guy and needs help? Â Did he think Bush is a bad guy and whatever he tries should be sabotaged? Â In what way was he biased? Did he ever say something like "I dont think Iraq has WMD"? According to what the hawks said prior to the war they knew where it is hidden, they had sources they didnt want to compromise etc. So why, why did they in the same time the Blix team had find less?? Are they not cabable of doing so? If yes get the real experts back into Iraq and let them do their job like they did before the US kicked them out. Or maybe, only maybe there is nothing to find. No hidden stockpiles of tons of WMD, delivery systems (45 minutes remember), uran... you name it. And if that is the case make up your mind: Did your government get your beloved country in a war with false evidence, lies and fake? Do you like to be treated like sheep? Or will you stand up and say "NO"? Hearsay on FOX news doesnt count. Read what the experts said about the drones. Until you don't know the real facts stop making accusations. Google is your friend. FOX news is not. TBH that's the general public's problem. The general public is not not what I'd call a shining example of intelligence. If you don't want to be part of the dumb masses stop reading headlines only, read the whole thing.

    Astronomers find oldest planet yet

Tovarish has already posted a good link. But I want to say my two cents too. You remember when they had that little roboter "i think it was called mars rover or something like that" on mars? Remote controlling it was rather difficult because of the lag caused by the time the radio waves needed to reach the mars. Since "light" is just another kind of electromagnetic wave just with another frequenzy (thats simplified I know) it shows light has a limited speed, too. So when you watch the sky at night what you see is how it was thousands and even millions of years ago! A rather impressive thought imo!
