A pan european media is actually a very good idea, but also a good way to spotlight our problems. For example the language barrier. If such media existed which language would it be? And who would be reading/watching it? What comes first, a european language (not to replace the existing ones in each country) or a european media...

I agree, of course, but for many people across Europe it will probably take decades until they see it this way, if ever at all. If you ask the average person on the street about his idea on Europe you may often hear they don't have any idea at all and don't care much about it as long as it doesn't interfere with their life. I think we who share the idea of a united Europe should emphasise it more.

While I agree that's a rather emotional point of view of mine it's as important as the "serious issues". People's opinions are mostly based on how they feel about something, not academic facts and discussions. That is why I was emphasising especially how many feel about the issue. Yet I agree with you, we have to be very carefull not to lose our democratic means to a bunch of people in Brussels noone really knows let alone controles. We need to give more power to the EU parliament and we need to vote more directly who's in charge in Brussels. However you don't achieve that with the scepticism shown by many critics. If noone wants a real EU president or EU government how are people supposed to vote for or against them? The EU shouldn't be about moving power away from the people, but let people decide on a european level. Btw. I'm curious to learn about how "your priciples" up there differ so much from ours down here.

I can only agree, when I travel through Europe and hardly notice when I cross a border it is starting to feel like I am not in a foreign country any more. Of course the people are a bit different and they speak funny languages but not haveing to show my passport and having the same money supports the feeling "we" and "us", rather then "them". It's like we're all in the same boat and start to realize that.

Like i said what about Germanys economical situation? Yes, Germany's economy is in a bad shape. Rather high unemployment, a huge deficite, high taxes, we've got it all. Here comes the but: That is our own fault and has not much to du with the introduction of the Euro. And in fact we are slowly working on improving our situation. It's not yet as bad as some make it sound and we are still Europe's largest economy, but we need some big reforms. It's going to hurt and people start to realize that.

I myself think it'd be a good thing if Sweden adopted the Euro. It is true, it does create more unity to share a common currency and I think unity is something we need in Europe, with all our cultural differences. What you in Sweden will get for sure if you get the Euro is rising prices. We have experienced it in the Euro-zone already and you still hear people complain about it, although more than often it's not the Euro itself that is to blame. But I think the long term benefit will be worth it, for the reasons already stated by others.

I'm sorry about that. I hope they get the one who did it. I also hope she'll be better soon and be able to return to politics.

Really something that makes me mad. How do those get into the black market anyways? Someone should start looking into this a lot more serious! We have rather strict laws on gun ownership in Germany but apparently every [insert really bad word here] can trade with them and somehow get them into the black market. That's so wrong, especially since I can't own one legally.

Reading security bulletins pays off, I had that patch installed days ago, I always update my anti-vir and my firewall, so at least this time I wasn't affected. What I am noticing is my ports 135 (netbios) and 4662 (?) are getting hammered, 99% from other "end user client" machines.

Why go for weird looking VR goggles when you can get a 3D Monitor?
