What's the point in the campaign atm.

Of all the things you could have complained about, you chose these as complete campaign breakers? That just makes it hard to take you seriously. :p
  2. You are not the first to post GTA5 screens. And while they look awesome, i feel like (or at least as far as i can see) they are not drawing shadows all that far, except for some objects that would draw significant shadows because of their size/relevance. Many objects in the distance dont seem to draw shadows at all, only the big ones do. Which is a smart move from Rockstar, but may not work at that well in ArmA.

    What is "True" Arma ?

I love these comments so much i want to have your babies.

    Google+ Official page

It is probably not updated anymore because it isnt worth the trouble for those 5 users. :)

    What is "True" Arma ?

Dont forget CTI. Back in the day everyone was proud of it, since only OFP could pull something like that off. So many years later it got a bit stale though. :)

    What is "True" Arma ?

I think that you are free to play it any way you want. However, the developers seem to have tried to make a combined arms war game, so i guess any mission that has the main focus on infantry and some vehicles fighting each other stays close to how it was 'intended'. PVP, coop, SP or mixed doesn't matter, all of them are 'intended'
  7. That is a nice feature. I wonder why it was developed for VBS instead of ArmA, it doesnt seem all that revelant for training purposes.

    AI Discussion (dev branch)

Obviously, but it is rare that someone wants tanks to use roads during combat, and apparently he is fine with the wheeled vehicle behavior. Which strikes me as odd, because AFAIK they are pretty much the same, except possibly for some formation distance stuff. I just figured he compared a situation of a safe wheeled convoy with an aware/combat group of tanks, without knowledge of the difference between them.

Weaponrest, get it in even if AI cant use it

To be fair: Pollanswers should never contain any arguments.

Do you mean 'yournickname' at bistudio dot com?

30 to zero. I like the outcome of this poll. :p

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

This. Back in the day (as a true budget gamer :p ) i aimed for stable 25FPS because i knew my eyes/brain would adjust to it, and after a few minutes i wouldnt even notice it anymore. This only works as long as it is stable, if you go up to 40FPS all the time you will need to get used to 25 again after that. The threshold for being able to get used to it was somewhere between 20 and 25 FPS for me, though it depends on the person, background lighting, tiredness etc. I play ArmA3 at about 45-60FPS, but i dont check it anymore since i feel like it is enough.

What Difficulty settings do you use?

Regular with the following parameters i care enough about to remember: Extended Armor: Off Tags: Off (Makes identifying units feel a bit cheaty) Unlimited saves: On (The reason i use regular) Crosshairs: Off 3rd person: On (Though i would prefer a separate '3rd person in vehicles only' option) HUD show group: On (Otherwise it can get really hard to figure out who is in your team) Auto report: Off (Though sometimes i feel like this setting doesnt actually work :p ) HUD waypoints info: I toggle this often. When i am messing around in the editor i usually turn it on. If i play a serious mission i have it turned off. Extended map info: Off (I would rather not play at all than play with this turned on) In ArmA2 i tweaked the AI options a lot, including the AIprecision paramaters in the config. I always had high AI skill combined with lower precision. However i havent touched them since they were tied to the AI skill at some point and i dont know how it currently works which somewhat annoys me. In ArmA3 i have the AI slider set to 0.5 for both friendly and enemy units.
  15. Not really true. There is 1 thread that will fully use 1 core, while all the other cores are barely used. If BI could get some stuff out of the main thread to other cores CPU usage would increase. EDIT: To be fair, i dont think FPS would increase much even if a magical 'optimization patch' did happen. After doubling our FPS we would just throw more scripts and AI at the game until it ran like this again. Remember that the game runs fine when you are alone on the island in the editor: It is the mission editor who influences most of the performance, and apparently he thought it was acceptable. EDIT2: Simpler example: Currently the game Kerbal Space Program lags for most people with spaceships of about 300 parts, and people complain. If they completely rewrote the physics part of the game and it would allow people to use 600 parts until lag they would just make bigger rockets and complain that they can only use 600 parts. :p

    AI Discussion (dev branch)

AI seeing through an object is pretty much always a case of a bugged object, not something wrong with the AI. It barely belongs in an AI thread. I would also like to encourage people to use a script like the one that can be found in the description of The script basically shows what the AI actually knows, so we dont get stuck on whatever interpretation of what people think is happening.

    Weapon sway

To be fair: It should be configured properly out of the box.

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

I am not defending BI, i am just saying that anyone who is waiting for a large performance increase is wasting his time since it will never happen.
  19. NeMeSiS

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

There is nothing left to do to get more performance on our end. BI can optimize things, but if a lot of people seem to be waiting until the performance gets 'fixed', and i am just telling you that that will never happen. A 10% performance increase is a realistic exception of what may happen, if that is not enough you might as well stop waiting completely. EDIT: Well, except for cases where something is obviously broken, which i guess is the case for Mobile_Medic, but that sounds so broken that it belongs in troubleshooting anyway. ;)

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

Honestly, everyone who played earlier versions and expected to performance to increase like 50% (or even more) is completely delusional. It was clear from the start that that was never going to happen. If you get like 30FPS or more at this point you should decide if that it enough, if it isn't you should leave, if you are able to live with it then it is time to turn off your FPS counter and just enjoy the game. :) In any case, there is not much you can do, all options have been explored, and there isnt anything more to gain from all the 'magic hacks'. At this point most FPS can be gained from optimized missions, but that is up to individual developers.

    Xbox code in BI tools?

Could be some leftover from OFP:Elite, which was released on the original XBOX, but around the time the 360 came out, so they may have played around with that.

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

Usage is a direct result of what the game is doing, not the other way around. You cant make it use more, it is already doing everything it can. The CPU, handling all I/O stuff, can bottleneck everything else, and since this is (apparently) caused by a single thread CPU usage can go down as well as GPU usage during CPU intensive scenarios, to the minimum of 1 core fully in use, while everything else is just waiting on it. As long as that 1 core does not become a bottleneck ,for example in an empty screen, or a menu 'mission' with like 3 squads walking around, usage will be high. To keep high usage, you would need to prevent a single CPU core from becoming a bottleneck. There are no tricks for that, either make the CPU faster, or the mission less CPU intensive.
  23. NeMeSiS

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

I dont really see your point. I though you wanted high usage? Obviously the menu is giving you both high CPU and GPU usage, all it is doing is drawing the sea and a menu, there is nothing to hold back either the GPU or the CPU because you started the game with the ' -world=empty' parameter. Except for the bunch that do. :)
  24. NeMeSiS

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

You cant 'fool' the game into thinking that. GPU usage goes down because the CPU (or at least 1 thread) is too busy to give the GPU all the attention it needs/wants, thus its usage goes down. If by some miracle you could force the GPU to run at 100% your FPS still wouldnt go up, since you are limited by the CPU in those cases. You are not limited by the CPU when you are in the menu, since there isnt much AI/physics/sounds/whatever to calculate.
  25. Nearestobject does not need the exact classname. _nObject = nearestObject [player, "House"]; Will return the nearest object that is a subclass of House, which includes most if not all houses. EDIT: You may need "Building" or "HouseBase" instead, i always forget. :)
