Ok you asked for it. The answer is: Wait a couple of years. It's proven that the Arma Series shows it's true potential, one or two years after the initial release. Most serious bugs will be gone, the patching will be complete, the community will have created dozens of mods, addons, conversions, settings and maps and of course any computer you buy in two years will be able to run Arma 2 fine! Proof: Have you tried porting the Armed Assault islands in Arma 2? Man, they play soooooo fine! All settings on very high and around 8km of view distance. It's a dream. I could NEVER do that when Armed Assault came out. The technology didn't exist back then. I am not even considering going back to chernarus for the time being. It's the definition of future proof design... with a twist! :)

Don't forget to play with the terrain features. Desert in northern africa, jungles in south america, ice in the far north etc. And you could probably put small villages or towns to represent the world's capital cities.

on the right column dude. It's under the formation list. it's called 'name'. I mean when you double click to make a unit appear you get two columns. On the left side you decide side, type unit etc and on the right side of the window you will find lists for rank, flying and name etc

No. It's not complicated. You tell the editor in simple english "HEY EDITOR! THIS UNIT! MOVE IT IN CARGO POSITION IN THE VEHICLE I NAMED C1" and the editor does it! Then you can copy paste this for every unit you want. Don't be lazy!

imagine you have a vehicle named c1 go to the init field of every soldier and put: "this MoveInDriver c1", to set him as driver or pilot "this MoveInGunner c1" to put him on gunner position or "this MoveInCargo c1" for back seat and cargo positions done

I don't use them. That's my solution. They never go where I want them to go and the animation takes too long, so I just dump them all on the ground when the mission starts.

Some of you guys don't even get the question. Are you serious? Of course it's not real life! Bullets don't fly out your screen and kill you when playing Arma. It's still intense and the tactics used in game as well as the choices you have in battle are pretty accurate. It's closer to real war than other war games like CoD or Medal of Honor and that's enough.

I play because of the editor too and I wouldn't mind if there was no campaign at all. But trying to convince other people to do the same is futile. You see, Arma 2 takes a special kind of person to enjoy it. The kind of person that understands why we are in love with this damn game and what we are able to do with it. OP you are probably one of those normal people who want to enjoy the game they bought with their hard earned money, straight away! Right? Ain't happenin' dude! Not this game. Either use your imagination and dive into the mission editor or uninstall the damn game and go about your business.

Does this really matter? I had to aim lower. Not higher. Ok it was in the 50-100m range. I was trying to shoot a dude and the impact appeared much higher than it should. So I adjusted my shot and fired lower, with the dot aimed about a cm below his feet and got him. the Aimpoint scope works fine. It's spot on in close range and as distance increases you have to aim higher.

Your logic is flawed! You come undone! The dvd works. That is proved by the fact that it worked on your brother's machine. Now, your dvd has no problems with other games. That's weird but it doesn't change the fact the dvd works. It just dislikes your dvd player. Or maybe the dvd player doesn't like the dvd. Maybe they had a fight. Since the dvd works you have to buy a new dvd drive. Your dvd player is at fault here.

I wouldn't mind that, since I mostly play with my friends on LAN and my missions have nothing to do with the military. Sometimes we play 'civilians caught up in the war', sometimes we are hired guns that take special missions the military doesn't want to be associated with and other times we just fuck around in a map full of enemies weapons and vehicles. It would be fine in my case... But implementing such a system in the case of realistic war would suck. There should be servers for military games where you are assigned a role and a weapon that works in a squad and "pimp my gun" servers where you can play with your own customized weapons and... funny hats or something? It would suck so hard.

I have noticed that the eotech scope doesn't work right in silenced weapons. You actually have to aim lower to hit a target...which doesn't make any sense. I don't know, maybe it works like that in real life to compensate for the reduced speed? I played last night and I had to use the upper part of the aiming circle instead of the dot in the middle. The bullet impact appeared just behind the top of the holo reticle. Can anyone test this and cofirm or explain it?

I also think ranking is a bit arbitrary in a game like Arma 2. I mean how are you gonna give points for what really counts in Arma? Obedience? Keeping close to your team? Helping others? Maintaining ordered stance? Not giving away your position? You need a real person to judge and award points, because Arma isn't about HOW MANY ENEMY DUDES I CAN KILL LOL1! It's about how usefull you are. It's about quality not quantity. That's like... subjective and stuff.

I had the same. Create the new profile FIRST and then put your addons in. Then save again.
