  1. The demo says "WICT\start.sqf" not found when I try to test it in the editor. Mods enabled: newest beta patch + CBA Anyone else with this message? EDIT: Well found it out myself... you should at least mention somewhere that manually putting in the WICT files is required prior to use the map ;)

    [SP] Flashpoint: Chernarus

    Stopping by to say thanks for this epic mission! Really enjoy being surrounded by constant firefights in the distance (and in the near). Especially when combined with ZeusAI and JSRS soundmod. This map takes me to beautiful places I have never been before on Chernarus and funny things happen all the time too! Last session for example I played a lone Force Recon Marksman. It was early in the morning with little fog and clear sky (magnificient view!). USMC and CDF were fighting against Chdkz and RUS all over the place. I moved through a forrest and walked by the branches of a tree when suddenly I hear someone speaking russian directly left to me where the tree was. Turning around shocked I saw this ghili-sniper pointing his AKSU directly into my face! I had just split seconds to react and I´ve shot him in the chest with my DMR and he died instantly... then I realized he was a CDF sniper! Never sneak up on a marine when you want to keep living! *g*
  6. Have you seen the youtube vids with TWO-THOUSAND AIs battling each other in one place? Altough this guy has overclocked his CPU we have already the capacity to do this by now... Dont you think it would be possible for merely 200 cpu-conserving-real-players? And btw six years ago it was totally possible to play CTI with 30 vs 30 in OFP. Do you really want to tell me this isnt possible with todays broadband internet connections? I am totally aware that this isnt possible with the current ArmA2 engine and that is exactly why I wrote that it would need a complete overhaul... but as mentioned earlier I know why BIS is never going to do that and that there is no other company working in the same area... Anyway it was asked how to attract more players and I gave a proper anwser... now back to polite non-bashing idea gathering perhaps?
  7. I don´t know if this has been mentioned before... but I´ll post it anyway because I believe over the time most of us forgot why they first started to play OFP/ArmA/ArmA2. We want WAR! Some want to be that little soldier on the battlefield facing a huge enemy army, while spending most of the time staying alive and shoot widly at the enemy. Some others want to be part of the cool Air Force or the Tank Squad casting great waves of destruction upon the enemy. Either way it is about being party of a large scale war, fighting the enemy with up to date machinery and many enemies + allies. Ain´t I right? Therefor my suggestions: Well thats just about it. Just let me say a few more words. First I am sorry about any errors (english is not my prime language). Second I know those things I suggested are not going to happen in at least some years. BIS holds on onto their engine until the end of time (yes I claim that it is BIS to blame for putting too much emphasis on graphics and too less on physics/netcode). The other thing is that there just aren´t any game developers who try to create a similar game. We have the hardware-power to be able to create such a scenario, which we have wanted since OFP, yet ArmA is still the only one, at least going into the right direction and this is why im sticking with it until I find what I am looking for. Btw Im playing BIS games since OFP in 2003. I mention that because I want the bashers, haters and fanboys to know that I throughlived the whole development process of this series and therefor understand why things are the way they are! Now finally to give a clear statement why specifically my suggestions would attract many players? Cause it would provide a packing and addicting platform of modern combat warfare to live out the players desire to shoot and blow up stuff together and against other players on an unseen grand scale! :cool:

  10. It is totally useless to discuss a new engine for ArmA3 (if it is ever going to be created at all). It just won´t ever happen and the reasons for this are simple: BIS is a type of family company, which could only survive until now, cause they found a gaming-niche, to which they created their own system. They keep updating this engine for over 10 years now and it would be an impossible task to create a new system, which would be sufficient to meet modern requirements, like the acutal one does. First it would need a huge amount of money let alone for the development, as they can´t just take an engine from another company and modify it to their pleasure. There is no comparable engine out there, which can perform the same way, with the huge landscape and the load of AI procedures, like the current one does, because as I already said, ArmA is a niche-product. Second the whole BIS team would have to be trained to use the new technologies, what would also need a huge amount of time, money and effort. BIS can not afford to spend all this effort to make a game which then would also have to meet the expectations of every ArmA fan out there and the gaming-scene. To come to an end: an objective cost-benefit calculation would point out a high cost with a low benefit (as this supernew game would also cost max. 50 euros). The only thing we can hope for is that a business competitor picks up the idea and priorities of BIS and makes their own new game from scratch (as seen in OFP: DR - the biggest fail in recent years)

    Chinese Army Addon!

    Well to be honest I also would prefer a huge DLC pack by BIS, covering the Chinese Army. I would even pay another 30€ to see an extension pack for ArmA2 using a chinese setting... The West vs East setting is just too drawn out to be still interesting
  12. Works perfectly fine in my mission. Mhm maybe you have a typo somewhere in your config and therefor units are spawned with default gear. Try using a default config_weapons.sqf without any changes to see if the problem lies within your edited config_weapons or elsewhere. Also see page 55 (if you haven´t already) of the included readme and follow the stepts exactly as shown there ;) EDIT: One minute too late *g*
  13. Well the thing is, why change this authentic behaviour of the AI? Why should your enemy engage with less units than available? Well anyway there is a possibilty to change those things. Unfortunately those aren´t described in the readme, but Silola has posted them here in this thread several pages back: You should also try and prohibit calling for support by changing this... _setSupport = [0,0]; .. in the Config_Behaviour settings and/or lower the AI skills additonally. No guarantee that any of this helps ;)
  14. are you sure that they behave different? Cause I made the expierience that a more powerful sound lets us believe that the recoil is stronger... This is why I like soundmods with movie-like firing sounds :cool:
  15. Silola is working on it but there is no release date set yet. @Silola: Thanks for your reply. You were right with the trigger - it doens´t work that way. But that wasn´t the only fault. I figured out that the error appears when I try to change an ellipse form into a circle form. And to complicate all that, I get a rectangular shape spawn zone from a circle zone (200x200)?   16. omg you are so right! :D lol @danny96: there is no way to make bodies in ArmA to use ragdoll as it would require an adapted engine... If you want those features that badly I think Crysis is the perfect game for you :cool:

    DLC- What do YOU want?

    My only wish is to NOT announce a sequel to ArmA2 for at least 2 years as the whole community suffers from lack of motivation to create custom contet due to that.... In the meantime I would like to see free patches adding the previous mentioned new features and pay-DLC made by BIS, adding a whole new Chinese/East Asian faction. I´m really bored of the ever going USA vs. Russia scene

  19. @MadMike.48th: Oh... didn´t even know that such a thread even existed Anyway, I just came across an odd error message while using DAC_Change_Zone. First I created a simple spawn zone called "z1" and tried to move it to another location and change the measurements of it. The "z1" spawn zone: Then I made TWO triggers which included the change_zone command and are activated by "Radio Alpha" and "Radio Bravo": [z1,getpos pos1,[200,200,0],2,1,0] call DAC_fChangeZone; [z1,getpos pos2,[200,100,0],2,1,0] call DAC_fChangeZone; Then I started the mission. As you can see on the next screen the zone is created normally without any problems. Then I use "Radio Alpha" to activate the change zone trigger to switch z1 to the pos1 location and i get this error message: As you can see in the error description it has something to do with markers and you can also see that it is probably the missing blue boundary marker, surrounding the new created waypoint zone of z1. There is also a minituare version of that missing marker next to the cursor... Anyway thats not a big deal, as the waypoints are still created correctly and are working as you can see here: But there is more: I tried to change the zone to the "pos2" location and after activating the trigger you can see this error message: The odd thing is that the boundary is now drawn but the error message is another one... In all the cases the AIs react how they should and accept the new waypoints, but those error messages keep irritating me... Any idea what this could be? A bug?

    Mission ideas

    I came up with an idea just now. It is a MP map. It is 1-3 players (commanders) against maybe up to 30 players. The clue: it is some kind of island defence (aka towerdefence). The goal of the 3 player section is to conquer the island with a huge (but predefined) amount of ressources. Maybe 3 infantry battalions and 2 tank squads and some helicopters. All of the 3 players are acting like commanders and the newly introduced high command could be very useful for this. If their side looses a unit it can be instantly recruited back in their base (which is by the way on a small island or an aircraft carrier). The condition for taking over a town could be that over 30 friendly units have to be within the cityradius for about 5 minutes. When they manage to take over a town they can recruit there soldiers there and the amount of ressources rises too (of course the 3 commanders can choose by themselves where to attack). The oppsoing team of 30 player has to defend their territory. They also have a predefined set of ressources and if they loose a town, they also loose ressources. To defend their towns they can deploy static defenses and build up sandbags with the use of their ressources. They should be able to recap a lost town only when 20 minutes (or so) have passed so that the 3 comms have time to deploy their own units there. I can imagine this map to be extremly entertaining. The 3 comms could use a lot of scripted stuff like for expamle tomahawks, uavs, artillery strikes and of course the high command (with a unit camera maybe?). The other team is of course forced to respond immediately and set up countermeasures like own artillery positions, AA sites, machineguns and to fight the incoming force back to where it came. I guess this sort of map needs some time limitation (10h?) otherwise the 3 player team could not loose by any means. Well what do you think? :rolleyes:
  22. Hi I encountered a little "issue" (well it isnt really one) and I don´t know how to overcome it... I need exact position data and therefor I need variables which dont get round up or down. Is there any possibility to define how many decimal numbers after the koma are used by a variable or how to turn off the rounding completly?

    How Important Is FSAA

    FSAA is extremly useful for targeting enemies far away. Without FSAA you cant differ an enemy from a moving tree. I don´t understand why this feature wasn´t implemented from the beginning... Pls BI make it available in 1.02! :(
