I'm having this same problem in 1.08 and am BEGGING to find some fixes for it. The terrain and textures appear to go from normal to low as they "flicker" on the screen. This drops my FPS to 1-10. It happens within minutes of playing a Single Player or Multi Player game. Does anyone know fixes for this terrible bug?

I was fine up until this 1.08 patch. Then all of a sudden the textures flicker as well as my night vision. When I hit my map, my compass and watch will flicker. I can alt+tab but this only helps for about 10 seconds until it comes back again. I've tried reinstalling ArmA and dare I say it I might try reinstalling Windows just to solve this issue. I don't understand why this is happening but it makes the game UNPLAYABLE as I only get 5-10 fps with my SPECS.

I wasn't meaning to include blackouts into the flight model portion - your point is irrelevant. Secondly the flight model is horse shit no matter what you try to argue. Try taking up an A-10 or any fixed-wing aircraft for that matter and use right or left FULL RUDDER. You will notice a slight yawing motion and then nothing. It doesn't matter if you are going 200mph or 600mph. You have failed to find where I make my point about where I stand on realism. As I said before, I understand Armed Assault is a simulation, maybe even a game, but I don't believe in the large variances in realism between vehicles and aircraft that it displays. How does the flight model fit in well with the rest of the modeling?? They have the infantry down to moving heads, arms, eyes, and even blinking motions. Yet, flaps and a landing gear have no affect on the flight dynamics for aircraft??? I can not believe you when you say the realism of the flight model compares well with the modeling for infantry and ballistics in this game. So instead of laughing at my discoveries and opinions, why don't you make some REAL points about the REALism in this game. And lastly, try out the aircraft for yourself, helicopters and fixed-wing and ask yourself how this compares to the modeling of the infantry. Hell, I can't even turn off my engine without exiting the aircraft or simply destroying it - If you don't see anything wrong with that, then you must be playing a different game, or are very misunderstood.

I have an 8800GTS 640MB and I'm getting this texture bug which TOTALS my FPS majorly. It's not just the 7000 series.

Ender, I'm not asking for a full fledge flight simulator in ArmA. I'm just saying if they aren't going to even make it "playable" and I really mean that, because the controls are terrible, well then they shouldn't have it in there at all. Helicopters I can see since they kinda float around and do their humble thing. But when they add fixed-wing aircraft into this game... it just doesn't make any sense! You can't do 10% of what you could in a real flight sim. I think ArmA should be ground vehicles and infantry only. Maybe add some helicopters but definitely not fixed-wing aircraft... It's not needed and two, it just doesn't belong if they can't get the flight model moderately accurate. (Not to mention the controls).

To be very honest, in my opinion, the flight model in ArmA: Combat Operations does not accurately display a real flight model AT ALL. Helicopters aside, the flight model in the fixed wing aircraft in this simulation is no where close to "realistic". Not once have I experienced a black out, and not once have I seen these fixed wing aircraft measure up to half of what the real aircraft can do in real life, or vice versa. Took an A-10 up to just fool around and see what it's limitations were... My discovery was interesting. I found that flaps did not make hardly any difference in the flight model of the aircraft. Secondly when I was sure I had enough G's to experience a black out, or to even get close, the aircraft had trouble turning as it just slowed down in air speed. After gaining mach 1, I nosed down to experience a red out, and again nothing. I then pulled my CH Combatstick 568 to the back right position attempting to stall the aircraft. My A-10 kept doing off-centered barrel rolls until, not the plane, but I wanted to cease. I tried the rudder, nothing, no response. Saw a slight yaw movement to the right and left, but overall, the aircraft did not change it's path or course. Don't get me started on the extremely low ceiling or very limited flying altitude. As for helicopters, I believe the flight model is drastically unrealistic. I understand this is a game, but it doesn't even measure up to any of the flight simulators out there. If BIS is developing this game for realism, why would you add unrealistic aircraft to ruin it?

You can do alot more with Sony Vegas than Adobe Premiere. Such as moving the actual frame around the recorded frame to give more "life" to your shots. For example, if an explosion goes off in your face, usually the camera would shake... You can't get this effect to happen in Premiere but you can in Sony Vegas and you can do it with easy and it is very accurate.

I'm getting extremely slow loading and receiving times now with 1.08, these are not just double the wait but ten times the length of loading times back in 1.06. You can see my specs at the bottom and find that my PC is not junk either. My textures also seem to flicker a bunch and alt+tabbing does NOT fix this situation. I am also taking a huge FPS hit with this patch and have no clue why.

Lol. I actually did chuckle a bit at that question, mainly because I just installed Windows XP on this new rig a few days ago I just reformatted due to the Core Temp "Run on startup" error, which caused my PC to crash. So I'm now downloading the update again and installing Armed Assault to see if it works any better.

But I already have it on "Very Low" and I'm still getting HORRIBLE frames! Jeez, what is up with this patch. Not even running Anti-Aliasing or Antistrophic filtering, shadows low, details low, post-processing low.

There is a Night Vision Goggles bug, but for me it was easily fixed. Sometimes it happened when I started up the game, sometimes it didn't. When I did notice the flickering, I Alt+Tabbed out of the game and Alt+Tabbed back in and then it was just fine. Try that out see if it works for you.

Can you perhaps lend me 2GB? Also, I'm running on Case - Antec Nine Hundred PSU - 500W Silverstone SLi Dual +12V Mobo: Gigabyte GA K8N51GMF-RH NF410 - S754 Processor: AMD Athlonâ„¢ 64 Processor 3400+ Newcastle S754 2.5Ghz RAM: x 2 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM Hard Drive: 335GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900GS 256MB - Overclocked Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Music Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 And I can run everything on Very high with a resolution of 1024x768 and have a rock steady FPS of 30? I really don't get how people with Specs way better than mine have problems? I don't know either, why don't you take a screen shot and show us. Is that 30 fps in open areas? What you need to do is go to a mid-sized city and go to one corner of it and look towards it. This should give you much lower FPS because I don't agree with your settings at all. I'm running e6600 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo GeForce 8800GTS 640MB (OC'ed 600/900) 2GB of pc6400 (DDR2 800) RAM and even with those specs, I need to to turn everything on low to get an average FPS of around 45-50 (meaning my fps ranges from 30 and 70) So I don't know what program you are using to get your FPS, but please tell me, because I should be getting 60fps constant according to what you have.

Seeing as you and I would have very similar settings. (I don't have my components yet, they will arrive Monday 6/4). Do you think I should be able to run "high" or "very high" settings at 1280x1024? I could care less about post processing effects and anti aliasing/antistrophic filtering. Obviously with V Sync off I should be able to turn most everything on High and achieve an average of 60 frames per second, correct? Thank you for the welcome, nice to meet you by the way.

Hi Dirty Deeds, nice to hear from you. I was an original member back when USI was starting up. Surely you remember Neo? Anyways, it may be very well that a 7950 rank slightly above any 8000 series cards... but it's because of the drivers right now. Soon those drivers will be fixed and the 8000 series will be far better. As far as Radeon goes, well I've heard they are having major problems with Windows Vista, so if you are planning on Vista, get a GeForce card if you can. But again, these are just driver issues for now it looks like.

If you haven't bought it yet, get the 8800GTS 320MB, 640MB or 8800GTX. It's a DirectX 10 Video Card and it only costs maybe 50-100 more than your 7950GT.
-
Right now you can get an 8800GTS 640MB on Newegg for only $20 dollars more (including the instant and mail-in rebates). It's rediculous! That's why I went and purchased an 8800GTS 640MB over the 320MB because it was only a 20 dollar difference at the time. Otherwise it's about 100 dollars more.
-
I was going to go with the 680i, but to be honest, I don't believe there is much of a difference between 8x and 16x in SLI mode when running at standard resolutions like 1280x1024. I've read a bit of bench marks tests and it has been shown that the 16x really doesn't kick in until very high resolutions are used.

EDS - Extended Download Service If you choose to download your copy of Armed Assault, rather than going out to purchase a hard copy, you have 30 days only to download the product. If you get a virus, it's not like Steam or any other service where you can always re-download the product in case of an emergency. Once your 30 days runs out, you can never re-download the product again. EDS offers an extended 2 years period of time to download Armed Assault onto any PC's of your choosing. If you lose the game or it goes corrupt, you can reinstall it. This service however requires a payment of $4 USD. This is complete bullshit. What happened to a one time payment for the game and the game only? People who are downloading the game are getting ripped off. What if they need to upgrade their hard drive? What if they get viruses? I'm sure this game will be around for longer than 2 years and people want to actually own their game, not paying $39.99 every two years to get it back on their systems. Yes one can always purchase a hard copy, but that's a hassle with CD's/DVD's. In my opinion this is completely bogus for Atari to do. There shouldn't be any extended service. Once you purchase the game, it should always be available for download.

Will these specs run ArmA at 1280x1024 on "HIGH" settings? GIGABYTE Nvidia 650i Motherboard ($139.99) Intel e6600 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB G.Skill 2GB DDR2 800 (pc6400) RAM 700W OCZ GameXStream Power Supply Antec p180 Case (three vents, three case fans, not including CPU fan and vid fan) SB Live! Sound card Seagate 7200rpm SATA HDD (320GB) Microsoft Windows XP Home

I was wondering if the system I just purchased was adequate enough to run (not just run, but average 50+ fps) ArmA on "high" settings at 1280x1024 resolution. Here are my specs that I just purchased from Newegg yesterday: GIGABYTE Nvidia 650i Motherboard ($139.99) Intel e6600 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB G.Skill 2GB DDR2 800 (pc6400) RAM 700W OCZ GameXStream Power Supply SB Live! Sound card Seagate 7200rpm SATA HDD (320GB) Microsoft Windows XP Home I will most likely be overclocking the e6600 to around 3.0Ghz, as well as the 8800 GTS. Will this setup be sufficient for "high" settings?
