That was me that shot john while trying to save him from Jana. LOL Unless it happened more than once.
I was firing into the windshield at jana, and i hit him.
I guess i should have shot at the tires instead.I wanted to ask, whats up with the hideouts? Can they be moved? I tried looking for an option somewhere. I also tried to buy another to mabey replace it or something. That doesnt work either it seems. They need to be movable somehow.

Sounds great! Thanks for all your hard work on this. We love it.

Interesting tidbit about markers. It now gives away cop position to civs. Or at the very least warns the peticular civ of a cops arrival to his general area. Just keep you're eye on your gps or map. When your civ marker appears, they are close. Of cource you cant tell which direction, but it helps. This is esspecially usefull on Jana's server, where you can check at a glance of the gps, if someones on to you.
Flaw or feature, you guys decide. lol

I wrote a whole post, assuming what kind of fps you'd get on what settings. Â Then i realized that I'd prolly be way off base and make a complete ass of my self. haha

Your machine has like identical hardware to mine, only each of your components is the next rung up in the generation. Â So you're machine is quite a bit better than mine.
Lets just say, I'm happy with the looks and performance of arma on my machine. Â So, I think you'll be happy overall. Â

Really? The only time i have seen anyone using ingame voice was when some twat decided to spam crappy rap music
Or the Allah-Akbar chants, stupid laughs, etc. Â Unless there is another program that does that nonsense.
Thats part of the server you join. Â Atleast I don't think it's client side. Â And is triggered by typing something specific into global chat.
I just assumed the voice chat was fubar, cause that is what everyone is saying, and I've never heard anyone use it. Â Therefor, I never even tried it. Â lol
Do the side channels work? That would be nice for general team stuff. Â Although direct speak is really needed. Â Imagine what a nightmare global is gonna be lol.
EDIT: This is what global will sound like in the near future. Just add the word cops after everything he says. hah

Just gonna add my opinion on the markers. Â
Personaly I like the way Jana has it atm. Â Visible only in towns, and when close to police.
Sure, it makes it easier for randoms to snipe the bank, but if the cops are working together, its not a problem. Â If you ask me its kinda dumb to know where anyone is at any given time.
Markers make it easier for cops to run around with no organization like idiots. lol. Â If they are organized theres no problem. Â "team 1 take bank, team 2 ammo truck, team 3 roadblock at drugs." Â Well, you get the idea. Â Rather then them scattering to pick up red markers, while the one guy on the team thats at the bank gets shot. Â

On that note, I can't wait for voip. Â It's gonna make pub play, esspecialy on this map, so awesome. Â If cops work together, assign a commander/chief, it makes them a force to be reckoned with. Â
-
They need to stay forever if they are locked imo. Â Is this reaslism or not? Â If i lock my car i want it to be there when i come back.
It needs to dissapear if one; Theres no owner for it. Meaning there ISNT someone online with a key for it. Â Two; It has been detroyed.
If you delete the key, its gone 15 mins later.
I don't get why you would want despawn on a car someone owns. Â It removes ALOT of possibility's. Â It removes the awesome open-endedness of this game. Â Why would you want to do that??
There must be other work arounds if its map clutter that worries people? Â Such as no driver in a car thats damaged more that 50% despawns, ect..
15 mins is retarted however you want to look at it.

I WANT 2 prisons. The one prison in Antiguna is for murderer which get over 10min and another for small delicts like car thief in Carazol. And I want that the antiguna prison is bigger than, near the whole island (But Fenced) and there just boats to get off.
My ears go broken when I hear everytime a mh60 sound.
AND I WANT also, that bounty hunters can check and arrest the people.
AND THE last thing I want is a nail strip. When a car drive over the strip the wheels have no air anymore.
Thats it!
All great ideas. I like the bounty hunter one alot.
I wonder if the stopstick idea is even possible?
-
Funny stuff dragz. lol
It's so funny the excuses people come up with.
Cop1, "Why are you down the road that ONLY leads to drugs OR the terror camp?".
Civ1, "I'm just looking around officer, i swear!".
Btw Civs, when theres a cop at a road block with a SAW, you might aswell stop. haha
Both sides are so much fun to be on. Cheers to the makers. It brought me back to ArmA.
P.S. Jana check PM's.

Actually the motorbikes are waaay more forgiving than they used to be in OFP, with the exception that they're more likely to flip up when you're going uphill - but that's not so bad since you're going slow and it'll never kill you. It's much easier to stay on your bike at speed than it used to be, unrealistically so given that you can actually skid sideways at speed without toppling over. You need to be going fast down a bumpy hill to kill yourself on an ArmA motorbike. In OFP you could kill yourself by going fast and zigzagging too much, it was really more realistic that way.I'm talking about a bug here, not intended dynamics.
You can be driving strait, on perfectly flat tar or dirt, and going 3 miles an hour or 50. Doesn't matter. I tested several different conditions. I even tried not using my mouse, thinking it could be that. It will throw you off no matter what your doing or how fast your going.
-
I've heard alot of complaints by other people and also experienced this alot myself. The thing throws you off constantly. Kills you at random for no reason.
I searched for a similar thread to no avail. Does anyone know anything about this bug? Is it something we can fix? Or do the devs know and are putting it in the new patch?
I just wanted to bring it up cause I love the dirt bike! Mabey it's just me, but its so fun tooling around with that thing. I really hope there is a fix in the works, if not something i can solve myself right away.

Heres just another hint for you guys that are having trouble. Theres no reason ever to let off the throttle. Unless your landing keep that pedal buried, so to speak.
-
The big thing is it doesnt zoom when you bring up your ironsights. Unless you press the zoom button that is.
-
That true view thing looks like exactly what I mean. Thanks Scruffy!
One question though, is it multiplayer friendly? Am i gonna get booted from servers for using stuff like this?
-
Maciver,Also disabled the zoom. It could have worked but I find that I don't really need an analogue zoom when on the ground. When in vehicles I use the +/- anyway.
The aiming thing...quite a spoken-about issue here. Basically, if you're like me and you don't have a deadzone in your head movement controls (it feels horrible having one IMO), then when you go into optics on a non-scoped weapon with ironsights, your "head" tends to become too sensitive and it's hard to keep looking straight through the sight. This is because with TIR enabled, you have freelook ability even when looking through ironsights. A suggested method of minimizing this problem is to do what I suggested in my previous post^. Your head is much more stable this way. It also sort of adds to the game because when (for me) I click hold breath, my head steadies up along with my body movement. Freakin' sweet.

Good idea, I see what you mean now. Although, I have never had any trouble with it.
I actually like to have it that fast. Because alot of times in close quarters i put the ironsights up and look around. I honestly don't like the "half zoom" you get when pulling up the sights. It should just pull the rifle up to your eye, not zoom in. This way your view isnt constricted at all when you pull the rifle up. THEN from there you can hold the mouse button to zoom in.
I feel like we are missing a step in weapon posture. In real life i would have the weapon shouldered with the ironsights in view. For any situation. Then pull it up close to my eye, zoom in, for a steady shot. Hopefully this makes sense to everyone lol.
-
I've had mine for Lock-On for almost 2 years now i think. It's just plain awesome for any game that supports it. Just like everyone else has said. lol
Although i don't know what you guys are talking about, having a hard time aiming. When your head is centered, it works the same as any other shooter. Use your mouse to aim. Unless I'm completly missing what you guys are talking about.
I turned off my zoom. That axis just doesnt seem natural to me. I always just use the sec mouse button. Same with flight sims, use a slider on my stick for zoom. As for lean, i just use the buttons for that aswell. I've been meaning to mess with the setting for lean though cause i'd like to use it.
-
The flight model issues aside, i was doing a little more flying in the a10, and theres ways to use it properly. It's not so bad that thing thing drops out of the sky. If your stalling out while flying this model, you'd do just as bad with the real thing.
The limitations are just a bit different. If the AoA guage worked that would help alot, but it doesnt. So just be carefull of your flight path. Dont try to turn violently onto your targets. Pass over them and get a visual ID, then roll into them.
If anyone isnt fimiliar with a good "roll in" I'm sure me, or one of the other guys could make a video. It works really well with the crappy flight model. lol

I'm just trying to build a simple mission before i get into scripting and such.
I can't seem to make the Heli pad refuel and rearm choppers. I just placed the H there. Do i need some scripting knowlege to make this work?
Same with the Ammo crate. I drop one where i want it using WeaponsUS, but it doesnt have all the weapons? How do i put one in there that has everything?
I searched the wiki and the forum, i cant seem to find much. Thanks for any help.

Im confused, is this just for fun or is someone actually making a soccer/football mod that we can play? lol

Steam release would be fine with me. I played the original DoD for years. The system is pretty streamlined now.
Quote[/b] ]Would a Steam release then mean I would be required to have it running in the background like with HL2?Not cool with that.
Probably you would, but i never tried without it. I'm not sure what the problem is with this though. It takes hardly any resources. Less than teamspeak.
-
lol funny video. The area he hits is still pretty far though.
Delayed impact fuse? Not sure which one your talking about, but the 203 round must rotate a certain amount of times before arming. It works out to 30m to the best of my knowledge. Thats why when it bounces it doesnt detonate. It hasnt rotated the required amount of times.
I dunno if the rpg is the same way or what.
-
It needs to be fixed for the same reason it was fixed in BF2, PvP.
It becomes alot easier to use and alot easier to kill someone with. Â You can't really win against it in CQC. Â Worst case scenario, the man with the 203 kills himself too. Â
It's not as big a deal in ArmA, because engagement ranges are usually alot bigger, but it should still be fixed.
It's not about people shooting it at thier feet, use your imagination to see how you could use this to your advantage. If you don't care to see this fixed mabey you'd be happier going over to BF2 and doing some dolphin diving??
EDIT: I tried this with the RPG and it also arms instantly.

This really comes down to one thing though. Â Strategy.
Tab targeting or TVM / Hud targeting, the A-10 brings the hurt.
If you have A-10's in the air you HAVE to be ready to defend your self against them. Â Set up shilkas and strellas in your convoy. Â Have Scouts watching mountain tops with Javs. Â Get the Su's in the air. Â A good Su pilot will keep him at bay. Â Thats why you need the harrier, ect ect. Â You need to PLAN accordingly.
This isnt BF2, you cant take your tank and go on your merry way. Tanks need support too. Think about that next time you hop in and go flying out of base over the fence and a few trees.
Because one thing is for certain, as it stands now, or made more realistic, its going to still be the king of the battlefield left alone to cruise the island.

Why heat seeking missiles like the maveric in ArmA are ridiculously overpowered: Easy Radar + Tab Spam. How: Multiple red squares shows on radar, press tab, fire, tab, fire, tab, fire, tab, fire. Takes about 10 seconds to level a whole convoy like this. Cobra and Su34 and others with seeking missiles are exactly the same.
Try flying without labels in lockon to get just a fraction of how hard it ought to be. I realise making a FLIR TV and whatever is difficult and maybe out of the scope of ArmA, but then something else to prevent the overpowered missile spam like a minimum lock-time or so.
Rockets (eg FFAR's) are crazy too. They take virtually 0 skill to spam and their damage range is huge. They even do lots of damage to vehicles when missing utterly... Oh how I wish rockets and missiles cost points in Evolution...
I know this is a little OT, but I have to agree and was hoping someone would mention it. Â While the flight model is very difficult and "bricklike" the missiles and rockets on these aircraft are overpowered. Â They hit with 100% accuracy, fly at mach 10, and make HUGE explosions when they hit. Â Worst of all, all you have to do is tab, click, tab, click, this is way too easy. Â
For now, they can fix things by making kills in these type of aircraft (cobra included) not count. Â Tell me, who has been working harder and is more deserving of points? Â The noob flying around spamming missiles from 3K+ or the infantry guy holed out in a city checking his flanks constantly. Â Seriously, missile targeting and shooting in this game feels like starfox or something. Â Not deserving of a military simulator.
I think it would be easier if it was modeled like the real thing. Â Give me a seeker head to look through. Â lol
You really don't want it to be realistic, because a good pilot would pretty much descimate everything. Â
You lock on pilots know what im talking about.
You think the unrealistic version is overpowered, then you REALLY don't want a fully functional hog roaming around. Â You'd have to add some more anti aircraft units into the game that arn't modeled, because the current units arnt much of a real challenge for the A-10. Â You would need long range sam systems. Â
Wamingo, your right about having to change alot of stuff to change one thing, so becarefull what you ask for. lol
Arma beta patch 1.09 - released
in ARMA - GENERAL
Posted
Just a note: I didnt read the whole thread, so these are probably repeats. But just what I've found.
Dirtbike not fixed, still throws you off randomly.
Sound inside some vehicles messed up.
Other than that patch is great. My fps went up quite a bit. Thumbs up guys. For my personal request, fix the dirtbike, I love that thing!
