    I have a similar rig to yours: a 6600GT, Barton 2600+ and 1 gig of RAM. I don't have problems running the game. However the age of my whole rig does show up and I have to play it on low settings, with shaders on very low and shadow on off. While visually it's nothing special, it still looks nice enough for me and I can endure platoon on platoon action in most areas, if not all. And I haven't done anything special to my settings or overclocked the graphics card.

    Well, that wouldn't be possible without reverse engineering the models to MLOD format (unless he went through the log-ass procedure of using 3DX Ripper to "rip" the models and made a config for them as well as added the missing lods etc), so maybe its possible without editing the models themselves? Maybe he spoke to bxbx, IIRC he was able to decode the M16A4.

    Might as well pipe in here: GIJOE94: please for the love of god learn how to mod or make addons! Instead of asking everybody to do something for you, learn how to make it yourself. We've given you links to tutorials that should help you get started. Follow Faust's lead and LEARN! Nobody is going to make everything for you. If they will, then I feel sorry for them. Make a plan of what you want and don't want in your mod, learn how to make it and make it. Don't expect anybody else to do it for you. You're currently the kind of "modder" most people dislike; that is the guy who goes: Hi! I'll "lead" the mod, the people I get will do the work for me. So please, learn how to make an addon from point blank, don't download models or textures, make them yourself.

    Oh I remember that. Most memorable occasion was in that mission where you had to run away after everon got taken over. Somehow I managed to get that scouting Mi24 onto me and boy was that scary. Just wouldn't go away.

    I talked to a WWII vetran that hauled fuel to airstrips in WWII, he said he carried a Thompson and an M1. That's one. Doesn't count as often. And he wasn't a frontline troop which is what ArmA is representing. @GIJOE: Games and movies are not reality. Here's the problem with carrying two guns: Twice the weight of the guns, twice the ammo to carry. That adds to a lot of weight. P Frontline snipers definitely had SMGs often enough with them for close protection. Some snipers had a noteworthy kill count with a weapon other than a rifle. A few extra kilograms doesn't exactly stop someone in good physical condition especially when their life may depend on it. I was aiming towards the WW2 guns. Two rifles plus ammo for those two is a lot of weight. For snipers it might be a different thing, but for a normal frontline soldier with full body armour and a full load of ammo I do believe that two rifles of different kind would effect his mobility. Not a lot, but enough to slow him down a bit. @GIJOE: COD is not realistic. If your source are only video games and movies then you need to find better sources.

    Maybe the leaders have autoreport on? Also, maybe it depends on that behaviour of the troops. But the only thing I've noticed different with changing of the behaviour is that they leapfrog and such.

    Also, they seem to be incredibly blind and you have to report every soldier even if he is in plain sight of most of members.

    I just tested this addon and I gotta say: SWEET! This is just something the RACS needed and it brings back the ol' OFP feeling. It's just about equal to the T72 which is just perfect. Can't wait for your future releases man, hopefully some more armour for the SLA.

  14. Unit names are more or less completely the same. At least infantry, the AT soldiers and two more names have changed which can be tracked down with ease. There's a problem with missing tanks though: no T55 and T80. But you can replace those with the T72, but you'd end up with something unbalanced.
  15. @Abs, Salvatore_Lee: Thanks guys! @Zarele: The selected fire modes are going to be implemented, hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle, but rather a plus. The static version? Hmm, maybe, that's something I haven't looked up and thought about, but I'll see, most likely it'll get implemented into R1. @Cpt. FrostBite: Well, the camo is yet to be decided, but it'll be like it was, more or less. There's still lots to come.

    Nice plan! I really hope you'll be able to do all that's on there, finally it'll make the stryker more usefull. Do you plan to add slat armor once it's possible?

    Blob shadows?

    I was wondering if anybody here would like to have blob shadows on the low shadow setting. I don't have a top of the line machine and put the shadows even on low takes 10 FPS off my machine, so I'm forced to play with no shadows on, if I want a nice FPS. So I was wondering if there's any interest in the community for blob shadows that you have with many other games. Just a nice small blob under the soldier/tank, perhaps even the airplane. Shadows add a lot to the gameplay and it just sucks to see the soldier look like he's in a world of his own because you have no shadows.

    Those too. The blobs would/should be non-realtime so it would improve a lot on preformance, I think that's the biggest FPS eater with shadows right now, they are fully realtime rendered.

    I think the reason why there is marine equipment in the game lies in the campaign. I'm not sure, I never played the campaign, but IIRC the marine elements in the game came to Sahrani for the rescue.

    Blob shadows?

    Well blob shadows should stay in one spot. The buildings are a grey zone, but you couldn't really have a blob for them. The only two places where it'd fit is soldiers and armour and I think they are used the most. I do have an idea for forests, one large blob shadow that would cover the whole forested area would be nice, instead of individual tree shadows and such. And bushes could also have blob shadows.
