What OS are you running it on?
-
That's something I was thinking about yesterday before going to bed. I've always been annoyed how a lot of WW2 addons that wre great were not compatible with each other and you were left to rely on full mods to get the balance and fun out of tank battles.

Securite Civile Modification
MehMan replied to Blue_Flight's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I think it might be a cool thing and a fun thing to play. Even if not it'll at least add to civy stuff that is badly needed in ArmA. -
I'd love to see anybody place 140 AI on screen at once in Crysis and have it run as smoothly as it does on my shitty machine in ArmA. Crysis is more eye candy than anything else. And it's over done eye candy. The AI looks worse in some cases than the ArmA AI. Also you can cut down trees with an AK. great. Also some of the stuff in Crysis is already in ArmA. Full night/day cycle. Been there since OFP! A real star map, been there since OFP. But then again, ArmA is a combat simulation while crysis is an FPS action shooter.

Thought I'd give you a short update: The Thompson M1928 with a 20 round box mag. No drum mags though, at least not for now. What my info tells me is that they weren't that awfully good. Also, in case anybody wonders I also update the first post with each update, so you don't have to search through the topic to see the newest renders. As always, I'm still looking for willing helpers, so if you got what it takes then don't be shy to step ahead.

Well the only thing that bothers me is the way the tracks bend around the drive sprocket, looks wierd. And the roadwheels on the high poly version look boxy.

Yeah, it's hard to drool over a 175x148 pic.

That was the most bland spam known to this forum, I wish i was a mod... Anyways, ArmA has good physics i guess for a game as big as it is. It's not spam, it's refering to his post and the overdone effects in BF2. The BF2 ragdoll is just like that vid. The body transforms into a flailing thing and flies 15m after it gets shot. That's a case of overdone ragdoll.

What american system?
-
Operation Northstar
-
What are you talking about?
-
Well Americas Army does have a nice ragdoll effect, but still at some points overdone. However Americas Army doesn't support up to 64 players on screen and on map and it also doesn't include the AI. And a huge island.
-
Bah ragdoll. It's not even that impressive. You have to overdo it to actually see it work. Ever seen BF2 charaters getting shot? See how they fly 10-15m after getting shot? And how their arms flail and fly as if they have no mass at all? That's the only time I ever noticed ragdoll in BF2. That and when it screwed up and left a dead body hanging in the jesus pose in the middle of the street. However I do agree that it does kill it a bit when you see a body fly through the air and do his death animation. But then again it also kills the immersion when you see somebody fly 150m up into the air when an RPG hits just at their legs.

It's faster in terms of enemy AI. They are more capable than OFP AI in a range of 50-250m, that means in tactics, they can quickly overcome you. the bad thing is that the firefights don't last due to the enemy AI being way better shots than you.

Awsome stuff man! Can I ask how long did it take to set it up?
-
Seriously. I got your point before. You missed mine. Now drop it.

CheatIdiots.. and BIS... Question about cheaters..
MehMan replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
People usually use the summer for summer holidays and don't play that many games. Just like local pubs are empty during the summer because everybody's on vacation. -
That's China. China doesn't qualify as an island. And yes I have. But whatever, your mind is set, my mind is set, now lets just drop it.

even me, wich lives in an all green much woods and mountains country, was all ready in areas where you come to "green" to "sand" in about 3-5 footsteps. So? I can go from pavement to dirt and from dirt to grass in 8 steps. Does that make it a completely different enviroment? No.

Flight model & Handy Tools for cutscenes
MehMan replied to geloxo's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Ey man, I was wondering if I can make it so that the choppers will follow me in formation instead of my waypoints. Is that possible? Because I usually don't stick 100% spot on the waypoints, I mainly put them in my mission to have a ref point. If I put them on the map. If I don't give my helos waypoints they just fly their own way. -
This is one of the biggest things that bothers me in both OFP and ArmA. The terrain itself has macro detail but not micro detail. That's why I prefer the area around Obregan as a fighting ground, as it offers a fairly good ammount of varation in terrain to offer cover.
-
It's the way you go about it, MehMan: What kind of response do you expect with an attitude like that.. That at least, I can agree with. Ah yes, now that I look at it I see you're right. Yesterday's post was a result from a bad day at work, so sorry if I sounded like a dick.

I don't like the setup of the island. It's not really logical. And please, shut the hell up with the whining comments. I don't like the island layout and setup, that's it. I do like the detail and how some of the building look. First time I actually comment negatively on this island and I am suddenly a whiner. Just because we don't agree on the thing doesn't make a whiner. So please, just shut it.

Very nice stuff man, have you perhaps started on the low poly versions? Also, can I just ask how many polies do they have? Here are some of my contributions to this thread:
