need help with A-1H skyraider
MehMan replied to Badscull's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I can help you with it if you want. -
Hmm, does anybody know if there's a script similar to this out there that is in a loop and creates, lets say 20-30 enemies in a radius of 100m, constantly, removing the dead ones, creating new ones and the circle moves with you? That'd be awsome for a moving mission in a humvee, always feeling like under attack.

The PC platform technology is horrible, if you haven't yet seen that then you must open your eyes please If someone is saying they want to do games for consoles as the PC platform has too many problems, it's far from being insane. It's just looking for a better platform to create entertainment products for. Maybe for some people troubleshooting the endless problems in the PC hardware and software is entertainment, but I dare to say that for the majority of the people living on this planet called Earth it is not. I don't have a console but I consider to buy one. Probably depends on how ArmA II turns out. I've played console games though, and I certainly enjoyed the problem-free gaming. Things Just Workedâ„¢ and I bet money on that you can't say the same when you try to play games on your PC. Indeed, and consoles are a very good gaming platform because the hardware is the same everywhere and it all works the same for everybody! Less troubleshooting, less hardware bugs. More fun. It truly is just pop it in and have fun. But unfortunatley consoles don't offer modability like the PC does, in terms of mods and addons and user mission.

I hope that this is reevaluated. A squad being broken down into fireteams, or a platoon being broken down into squads and then fireteams, is not a "complex chain of command". It's how real military units are structured, and it has dramatic ramifications on tactics and such, both from the player's point of view and the AI's. I am worried that the general combat against the AI in ArmA2 is going to be the same that we had in OFP and ArmA, but with a few upgrades. I'm personally tired of having squad-based units that do not know how to work with each other to carry out proper military tactics. I don't know if I'm ready to go through that same style of combat yet again. It was fun in OFP because it was new - it was good for a while in ArmA, but the thought of facing it yet again in ArmA2 without serious reworking is very, very worrying. Again... I hope that decision is reevaluated. I gotta agree with that. A chain of command system could be a pretty big step forward in gameplay. And it would put ArmA 2 even further ahead of other games. I'm sure it would be a lot of work, but the results could be great. Fireteams, platoons, and more. ArmA can already handle a huge amount of units, especially on a dedicated server. It could use a better way to command them. I know about CEX, but having chain of command system in-game and splitting squads into fireteams could make such a huge difference. My gut feeling is that the ARMA2 development may be too advanced for them to implement fireteam/platoon chain of command breakdowns into the game. It would however be a positive step in the right direction and if it is possible to incorporate in ARMA2 then they really should go ahead and do it. It can't be too far in, not a year before the first heard release date. In a year they could implement it. Hell they almost completely changed the looks of ArmA in a year and a half! So it's possible, and would add more depth. It's possible to get a fireteam structure working within OFP/ArmA(look at Gen. Barrons handsignal addon) and it worked awsomely, now if a simple modder can do that, then BIS can surely do it. It's never too late for changes. One thing I've also disliked is air units and formations, vehicles, etc, they all used the same thing as infantry. While it worked for vehicles, it doesn't for aircraft and helicopters. Also I hope that BIS isn't moving too much into the mainstream kind of gaming that is popular, because that was one of the good points of OFP, it was just so different and in a good way.

Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced
MehMan replied to imported_bör's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I like it how they try to sound smart and fail at it. It seems the writer of the article is on the track of: LOL BIGGER NUMBER BETTARH! WIN -
Could somebody post the changelog for the tools perhaps? EDIT: Hey hey hey hey! Why was the export option removed? Jeez.
-
I'd rather wait before buying a Dx 10 card. IIRC Dx 10.1 is going to make them obsolete which is a shame.

Does anybody else find the recoil to last too long? I mean from when the shot was fired up to where the shooter recovers and is back on target. It looks as if the shooter doesn't have control over the weapon as if he's not holding it correctly. Or is this realistic? It just seems too long and too out of control for efficent shooting. Maybe it's because I'm used to OFP where the shooter recovers nearly instantly, but that felt better. Anybody else feeling the same way that I do?

Just tried the FlatOut2 demo, fun. A lot of fun.
-
Damn Opteryx! If I had some more time I'd model you some custom buildings!
-
M82 looks alright.
-
The stock is too simple, while you've put excessive polies into the pistol grip and the barrel for some reason. Also there are a couple of parts which could be simplified.
-
Wouldn't it be easier to use the BIS M249? Because this one has glaring errors: stock, pistol grip, barrel has too many segments, etc.
-
Gene Rally. It's free, simple and fun. No steering wheel needed. Also, it supports multiplayer on one computer .

Speed bleeding while turning Fixed-Wing aircraft

This, combined with the mouse autocentering is truly making life harder for mouse+keyboard flyers. -
Wings need to be painted too. Besides that, a tiny tad bit more white perhaps? But that's just my personal prefrence.
-
Very nice, I wonder how long it took you to make that in Milkshape. Also, unwrapping is going to be a pain in the ass.
-
Average Joe what's that what you got there? Is it actual terrain or just a good sat image?
-
Blueish? Aren't most planes' undersides painted white with a tint of blue?
-
Well I'd say that anything with enough firepower can classify as a sexy beast in this community. Don't mean it as a bad thing, not at all.
-
Well, that's on it's way...

need help, new to modeling/addon making for arma
MehMan replied to Baz's topic in ARMA : O2 MODELLING
And you need help with? -
However the topicstarter doesnt go prone. Indeed. Well I see the problem that the animation has to go through the whole loop on one tap instead of a longer hold and that causes the problems with fine tuning your position.
-
There's a transition missing between run-crouch to prone. The character simply starts sprinting ahead and only then prones.
-
No, because in real life you can predict this. Since we have no feeling of weight and speed ingame it's nearly impossible to predict it, and the bug is in the missing transitions, so it's a bug.
