    ArmA II: The Vehicles

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Regarding the model of the Harrier. Please check the following comparison, both AV-8B Harrier II Plus (photo mirrored to match screenshot): Yes BIS got the basic characteristics of the Harrier II Plus right, it's simply a sloppy 3d model.

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Well the long nose itselfe is correct, as the AV-8B+ has the AGP-65 radar installed (vs. no radar in all other Harrier versions). Still it looks very different than the real one (on the link I posted or your Italian one is also a B+).

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Is it just me or is the nose of the AV-8B+ looking strange? the real Harrier looks sleek, the Arma Harrier ugly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BAE-McDonell-Douglas_AV8B_edit5.jpg

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

An-2 for CDF and An-24 for Russia would have been great choices for transport/paradrop. I also wonder if we will see some civilan aircraft or helicopters under the civilian section.

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Nice to see the fixed wing aircraft. Now some nitpicking about the armament from a flightsim enthusiast The Su-25 cannot carry 4 Kh-29 missiles as shown in the vehicle section. The Kh-29 is simply too heavy, the Frogfoot can only carry 2 units on the most inboard stations. Also the standard Su-25 does not carry R-73 AAMs, instead it uses the older R-60. The newer versions of the Frogfoot (Su-25T, Su-25TM/Su-39) can carry the R-73, but only on the second outboard stations. Hopefully they also adjusted the ArmaA A-10 to not carry AGM-65 missiles on stations other then the ones outside of the gear pods (on either single or tripple launch rails). All other stations are not wired to accept the Maverick.

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

There are even 3 Pictures and videos show Mi-24D with AT-3 missiles for CDF, for Russia Mi-24V with AT-6 missiles and Mi-24P with fixed dual 30mm cannon instead of the MG turret.

Since we have the Osprey, no CH-46 makes sense somehow, as it is the replacement.

    Helicopters engine starting

I know I'm propably belonging to the minority too, but I would like to see longer start-up time as well. For me it is a immersion braker if the helicopter starts-up too fast. To me it feels natural that a helo is a complex machine that first needs some time to be prepared to fly (even if we wont do it ourselfes in Arma).

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Helicopters are up. Nice to see that the Ka-52 now has camo instead of the black painting. Again we have some confirmed variants missing like Mi-17 for CDF/ChDKZ, Mi-24V (Spiral ATGM) and Mi-24P (fixed dual 30mm gun).

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Well, there are also 5 eastern faction vs. 1 western. So obviously they have more equipment.

Copy it directly into the address bar, should work then. Somehow I could not hotlink or get it to display correctly...

Anyone know what kind of BTR this is? I have never seen a version with a manned MG on the turret. Could this perhaps be some kind of mortar carrying variant of the BTR? I was hoping we would get the answer today, but as the variants are not listed...

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Too bad they didn't list all the variants for the wheeled vehicles. I am sure there are a multitude of variants for the trucks and armament carriers. Also I am still curious if the LAV-M mortar carrier made it in.

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

The Bradley stayed at home together with the Army.
  16. That makes sense. 16 vehicles plus the MLRS, so NAPA might use a captured BMP-2. Although I somehow doubt that NAPA uses tracked vehicles, it sounds a little bit too much for what we know about them. At least we know they have some captured BRDM-2.
  17. from here: http://www.arma2.com/supply....lang=en Good find. This of course opens the question what the other 6 vehicles could be (8 shown +3 variants +MLRS).
  18. What is your source on the 18 tracked vehicles? I think I missed that one.
  19. Nice, no big surprises though. I am happy there is the plain M1A1, I think it looks better than the pimped up versions. I wonder where the MLRS is. Is this perhaps a non-drivable or off-map asset?

    ArmA II: Weapons Sections

There are already the Ka-52 and Su-34 in Arma II, of which the RuAF currently operates perhaps 10 units each. Not exactly a realistic representation of the current RuAF either. I agree that the F-35 is a bit of a strech, but in a slight alternative universe (*cough* Chernarus) one could say that they do combat evaluation in Chernarus.

    Weapons Revealed

I like the weaponry a lot, some nice pieces there. Personally I would have liked to see some more old or "civilian" weapons for the smaller factions. Like an old SKS that was still on grandfathers attic or more hunting rifles/shotguns. Also some G-3 or FN-FAL would have been nice for NAPA, but I guess in a geographical area with so many AK's around this would simply be unplausible. Overall I am pleased with what is shown. Some questions: Which of the static weapons are movable? Especially mortars or ATGM. Are they disassembable? Are the larger pieces towable by vehicles? How is ammo supply handled for artillery and mortars? From the describtion it looks like some of the rocket launchers are disposable, can this be confirmed?

    Electronic warfare in Arma2?

It's the 76N6 Clam Shell radar of a S-300P/SA-10 SAM battery. Which is funny, considering that most of Chernarus is within minimum engagemen range of the system if placed in the center of the map
  23. I also don't quite see what TrackIR has to do with head shake.
  24. Looks great! The radar could be a 76N6 Clam Shell air search radar of a S-300P/SA-10 SAM battery. If true this might be a bit of an overkill, considering that an S-300 site can cover an area of 100 times Chernarus
  25. Very nice! Any chance to get that Su-25 shot in high-res?
