you don't have to drag your computer around just take a cd and copy that file, i know it's annoying for those without internet on there gaming rig but o well.
-
Well as I understand it, you need an internet connection to activate it, and quite a lot of people I know have more than 1 pc, one for surfing the net and stuff (normally an older one or the familiy pc) and then a better one they use for gaming which doesn't have the net. So, in short, even if your pc is kick ass and whoops the recomended sys specs you're still screwed because you need the damn net to activate it. It's also flawed on another count, what if you're isp is down? What if the activation server/s are down? You're stuck with a game you can't play that you just shelled out Å35 for! That's exactly my problem, my father has the I-Net computer, and I've got an own one, which is not connected to the internet, because it stands in just 7 meters over my head, and the walls are too thick for wireless lan. In addition I got a nvidia graphic card, so  I'm already fooled

1st of all, you only need to activate once so if it goes down (not likely) and you have already activated it don't matter.
secondly, if you have one internet and one gaming pc, it aint hard to activate the thing.

I would buy it but this online registration is just too much obligation. I AM BUYING A PRODUCT which is supposed to give me pleasure and at the same time must be convenient to use. What is that. First they dont let journalists check the game in their own offices before release and then this silly step. Screw you, I rather use the money to get wasted with a few friends!
It only authorises online becuase it's attachin the CD key to your account, so no more "Your CD key is in use problems" becuase some little prick has randomly generated your CD key.
whats so bad about them invititing journalists around to play it? maybe they dont have the option of enabling certain accounts on steam to allow people to play?
-
There is a file in you steam directory that once you have activated you can copy over to a non internet PC and so therfore play the game.

Okay, let us say there was no MLRS, despite that, same problem. Â Firing WP and HE or other cluster bombs into a city is not a good way to fight nmow is it. Â And having watched a live feed from the start of the invasion, I know the city was hit quite a bit at the start, this is no imagination.well when digital globe release post operational photos of Fallujah we can compare it to the 5th of november one.
Can you point me in the direction of video's or photos of WP over the city itself.
-
Do the US have a cluster munition for their 155mm's? The British do, and it can be quite focussed when it goes off. A MRLS on the other hand would decimate a decent sized area.Ah, I didn't know there were cluster ammunitions for regular artillery shells, too. Might be that. Still firing them into residential areas is probably not a way to reduce civilian casualties. The voice over says they were fired 'to set off possible car bombs in the area'... well, including the sourrounding buildings I guess.
you sure your not talking of the device the US use to clear mine fields, there using them in the street to set off IED's and booby traps.
The fact is the US have no need to use MLRS and from all the reporting and video there is no evidence apart from shots of WP which can be fired without the use of MLRS
-
You are talking BS monkey, don't be building up little strawmen, your logic is pathetic to me. Â And it's 'their' not 'there'.in comparison to the last time they operated in Fallujah, they bombed absolute shit out of it. from what i saw the WP rounds were fired over the trainstation as they started the assualt.

Quote[/b] ]of course it aint, as the marines advance the area in which the insurgents/terrists occupy decreases so the ferocity of the fight will increase as they become more concentrated.
well afaik the rebels are not surrounded...
Well it seems they are, Marines are holding the southern borders of the town while the rest of the Marines + Army units push south from the north clearing them out, as they flee into the desert the southern Units are moping up.
-
that be some good looking units right there, also the blood type is a great little feature.
-
There was some pretty intense footage on BBC. Seems that the fight is far from over.of course it aint, as the marines advance the area in which the insurgents/terrists occupy decreases so the ferocity of the fight will increase as they become more concentrated.
-
btw could you remove all the bushes from the Main base and the smaller on to the south because it just looks odd.
-
Still if you read the tid bits from the reporters you get a completly diferent pictures,Marines at times shot from 5 diferent directions, aircrafts on course to Germany filled with wounded marines, the Insurgents are advancing to the center of the city and have forced the Marines out of the hospital they've captured in the first day,so it's really confusing right now.Of course the Fire is going to be more feroucious (sp?) and the next 24/48hrs are going to get even fiercer because as the Marines and Infantry units advance and as the Insurgents retreat into the smaller streets of the old town/industrial zones its going to get alot worse as you will have the insurgents pushed into a smaller area and so logically the intensity of fire is going to increase, it hardly point to the marines failing or the falluja situation floundaring becuase they are being shot at from 5 different locations, the US soldiers are the best int he world at MOUT, (hard to admit) but they are and so to come out with 69 casualties and 18 deaths without sounding callous isn't too bad.
also point me to where they have said thousands of insurgents dead?
-
What are you talking about Albert? Â Read what I wrote, I am not saying they are not skilled. Â I already said they have overwhelmingly more training and some of the best equipment. Â That's the entire point. There is no guess work, we know people are being killed by artillery/MLRS and all sorts of nasty indiscriminatory stuff in Fal. Â This is a fact, look even at the pictures FFS.
I'm calling bullshit on MLRS, they ain't been using them.
Quote[/b] ]The technique is there to minimize friendly casualties. It was always there since the beginning of war, but there are various levels.the more you minimize your casualties in urban conflicts, the more innocent people will be killed. That is, the easiest way to minimize your casualties currently is a long siege, or chemical warfare. Starve all or kill all inside. Next are weapons like large HE bombs and artillery launching them. Simply put, it is not an acceptable tactic in todays western cultures, not in germany either Albert. Imagine someone invading Germany to free it from some "insurgents" and then shelling a district of Berlin with artillery/MLRS/WP etc. You call that MOUT? That isn't eliminating the insurgents, that is eliminating anyone in the vicinity.
Tet me explain it another way, the problem is not that it is difficult to eradicate people in a city, the problem is how to eradicate only desired targets in the city. What were the numbers 90K in Fal. 5K of that insurgents?
If they were soley caring about there own casualties then why are they actually entering the city, you talking BS again, i doubt they would have trained for 7 months before being deployed in MOUT if they were going to sit back and shell a city like they did before, as far as i can see the shelling is fairly light from air and land based arty. Although shelling in city's can hardly be precise from what i have seen and heard there being very selective with there targets. plus it was never a prolonged period of bombing before they moved in either.

Hmmmm. Desert tan nomex flightsuits, super tricked out M4's, a minigun..... SFOD? I know a new anti-terror task force designated Task Force 626 is specifically hunting Al Zarqawi....These could be some mint photos.
Why do you think the Operation was inititally called phantom fury, because of of the Task force units was called Phantom or sumin.

could i ask why?Quote[/b] ]two new threads from scratch that both contain the same posting guidelines and warningswhy not just post those in the election thread thread.?
-
If it's gone be seperate threads, would it be possible to make the 'US presidential election 2004' thread to US Politics? No it will be two new threads from scratch that both contain the same posting guidelines and warnings, things such as flamebaiting should not be responded to but rather reported to moderators, not reporting it but rather participating in flamefests risks the threads being closed. etc.
I'm willing to listen to any other suggestions to help the threads run smoothly and to help all sides converse in a polite mature manner

could i ask why? it just seems that the 04 thread was actually moving from the election to US politics in general.

Consider political topics a bonus to this community. In case you have'nt noticed, this is a game-forum.It is not meant to be bogged down with political topics. Â
Quote[/b] ]about military, politics, science, other military games and similiar topics loosely related to the game)That is the description of the OT forum.
Me i'm all for seperate political threads, maybe even a seperate subforum in OT.

Well Bush has been able to fairly successfully rebuild the economy after the artificial Clintonian bubble economy, cracked down on corporate accounting scandals to support long term financial stability, cut taxes on the middle and lower income brackets so that they would have the ability to move more liquidity in the economy, cut the taxes for the higher brackets to help get more money moving into the economy, changed the tax code on small vehicle depreciation to help encourage businesses to expand their motor pools and create automotive demand in the Mid-West, worked to stabilize the economy following 9/11 as well as the increased and previously underbudgeted security support, and as one analyst noted that there has been a net gain of about a million and a half new jobs, from over 600 million jobs created and lost, indicating a large amount of growth and activity in the economy.Additionally Bush has been energetically supporting new industries such as Charter Schools, Energy Research, Security Contractors, and other value-adding businesses that create new long-term jobs and grow wealth by serving the community.
That's a pretty good track record, and one that with a little tweaking to fit the next four years will be of great benefit to America and the World. Of course those policies should continue, since they're right, and have been proven to work.
Hey when you still have a deficit of 500 billion + $ in 4 years, you can't blame it on Clinton like all the Problems bush has.

3 UK troops from the Blackwatch have just been killed in an ambush:...
This was so predictable. Earlier today BBC reported that the UK troops were going to move in towards Fallujah.
So much for the guarantees that it was just a temporary move and that they would be back in the south very soon.
Having said that, the move can hardly be criticized. The UK chose to be a part of the war and has to stand by its allies.
They are comming home before Crimbo as part of the usual rotation, tbh with all the media hype they were one of the biggest targets in Iraq.

Quote[/b] ]That's nonsense. So if I'm saying that those that supported Kerry's tax plan are stupid, then I'm insulting all Americans? Yeah, all the ones that voted for Bush are Americans, but not all Americans voted for Bush. It's a legitimate attack on a political opinion.
Not even going to respond...

Yea because you finally have realised that he is right.

Quote[/b] ]oh, so now we should elect our president on the interests of the European people?no he never said that, but a suggestion would be one that isn't as ignorant or biggoted as an Iranian Mullar.
-Sorry back on topic-
