What you have to do, is put a switch trigger on the cycle waypoint. Fill in the relevant trigger info panels, and when the condition is met, the enemy on the cycle waypoint will do exactly what you tell them to do. Sorry for going offtopic.

UKF Release: Jackal MWMIK
mr reality replied to da12thMonkey's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The sheer quality of this addon, helps you forget how long we had to wait, to get our hands on it. Simply put, it's beautiful. If the other UKF addons are anywhere near this quality, then we're in for a real treat. Apart from the ArmA engine limitations, i can't fault this addon. Like HamishUK, i'm also a big fan of the warrior, but i'm not saddend by the fact we could be getting the challenger next. -
Yes it's a large area of land, but yet again there seems to be a large amount of it unusable. All the west and north mountain area will be unusable and the south east area looks quite mountainous also.

Latest ArmA2 & ArmA2:OA Press Coverage | NO discussion here!
mr reality replied to EricM's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm likeing the videos we've been shown. The only thing i don't like, is the fact we're not actually seeing anything from the gameplay side of ArmAII. All we're seeing, is cleverly scripted videos. I would much rather see, an AI lead squad attack on an enemy guard post/check point, to see how the new AI handles this. Or even a convoy going from one village to another, just to see if the convoy can actually get there.Or how about an AI piloted helo against infantry and apcs. These would be far less time consuming to make, and much easier. As i'm a pessimist, I tend to see these videos as a cover up of the less than satisfactory AI and how it handles specific routines.I would just like to see for myself before buying the game, if the AI is really capable of doing things any differently than it could in ArmA. I don't trust reviews 100%, so i would like to see these things for myself. I'm trying to remember if BIS have ever released a video of anything other than a scripted event or just messing around. Edit; Lets just say i'm seeing this, from a persons perspective who's never seen flashpoint/arma before. These videos look swanky and all, but do they actually portray the real gameplay of the game. -
I served in the British army from 87-93, so this mod is roughly in that time frame. I know you havn't planned on making any british units, but if you ever did, then i could recreate my time from those days. Oh, those were the days. Keep up the great work guys.

Of all the VBS2 videos i've ever seen they all seem to be 'simulating' convoy procedures, if and when attacked. I don't think it would be possible to simulate MOUT very well with the ARMA engine. I agree that it is a simulator, albeit a poor one, but it's the only one on the market at this time.

That's the reason i didn't buy OFP Elite. I had preordered my 360 and was hopeing Elite was going to be backwards compatible. To be honest though, i wont be getting ArmAII for the 360 as there will be limitations in the editor.
-
Even though all i ever do on these forums these days is complain and whine about ArmA, i'll be pre-ordering ArmA2 for sure. I feel i owe it to BIS, for the hundreds of hours of enjoyment i've recieved from just messing about in the editor.
-
To the best of my knowledge, that level of building destruction was never implemented into VBS1. I'm not even sure if VBS2 has that yet. I think it's more for VBS3 than ArmA3 (if there even will be an ArmA3).

A massive step in the right direction. If all the sounds are going to be much improved then this is a two thumbs up from me.

Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced
mr reality replied to imported_bör's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I also play ArmA often without any mods. I think it's time to settle your bet. How much is your mortgage? I hope it's enough for 3 of us. Â make that 4 5 Â I find it hard to believe that you 5 have not got one single addon or replacment file in your ArmA directory. If you never use mods you wouldn't need to come on these forums. @Whisper, yes that post turned into a bit of a bash, which was originally unintended, but as this is the OFP2 thread i just got a bit tired of members knocking everything CM have shown. -
That is definitely not what I heard when I listened to the interview You're really twisting his words around. He's not the BIS sound guy anyway But anyway I also hope to see improvements to the sound, not just the sounds themselves but the sound system. What mr.g-c posted was pretty much how i recal it. Suma did say that there not focusing on better sounds because he said and i quote "If a weapon sounds like a weapon it doesn't have to be perfect", he also said he's only interested in the island construction, he's not realy into the military games. I found this odd and my conclusion was that there just milking Flashpoint for what they can get. ArmA is a perfect example of this. A game released just to get them some cash to carry on with the next project. For all of you who have rose coloured glasses, BIS is a bit like EA, only on a much smaller scale. They slightly update there games and call it new. It's only because the community want more that were willing to buy them like lemmings. Yes BIS keep patching there games, but they have to, there bugged to hell and they need to keep the community sweet or else they will be out of a job. That rant went on longer than i intended but reading some of these love posts makes me wanna go Â

It looks the same as ArmA to me. You can get the AI units to do that in ArmA with individual commands. I would assume for a scriting guru this would be relativly easy to do. Lying in the middle of a road is not good and pointing your weapon at a fence which is only 10 feet in front of you is also not good. And for the love of all that is holy can we not have the exact same sounds from ArmA. I've paid for them once already i don't want to have to pay for them again. I could say the same for the animations but i know, WIP.

mr reality replied to imported_bör's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Will those of you who are bashing OFP2 just try and remember that BIS have been making there game since before 2001. You guys have such a short memory. Remember the ArmA beta test we all paid for. I commend CM for at least giving us hope that there might just be an equal to ArmAII or pray to god it just might be better. CM have huge resourses at there disposal and this may just be what we've all been looking for since the end of flashpoint. BIS have pretty much just given us a graphical upgrade with every 'new' game, instead of the real ballistics, destruction models and penetration values that we've all been waiting for. For gods sake our own community had to make the tracers and what's the first thing that gets improved for a BIS game, the sounds. The exact same bugs that were in the very first version of flashpoint were in ArmA. How many of you play with vanilla ArmA. I bet my mortgage that no one plays vanilla ArmA in SP. -
I would prefer this also, but we've only been shown 5 members in the press kit. They all have background stories and there all unique. Each one has a specific job to do. During the SP campaign you'll be switching between them to carry out your objectives. I'm just speculating but it's not what i was hoping for...

Those screenshots don't mean anything. Just have a gander at the screenshots thread and you will see that you can get some bloody good results from a game which some people struggle to play on medium settings. Parvus was posting great screenshots from OFP. I don't know why the majority of you have orgasms over some pictures. All i want to know is if the AI can fly those helos in a formation without crashing and if they can use there weapons correctly.

I love this addition! Now fire fights and such should feel a lot more realistic rather then soldiers simply shrugging of injuries to the arms and legs and continue fighting without any pain at all like some sort of zombie.I also love the new civilian and wildlife features. Populating villages ect with just a few lines of code in the editor. Great stuff BIS! I believe that in the SP campaign none of your team members can die. This leads me to think that this is why units have a greater chance of being wounded rather than dying. It'll just be for you to go over to them and administer first aid, reviving them. Now this doesn't seem like real combat. I agree with you on the civilian and wildlife element though. That does sound vastly improved.

This is the one thing that bothers me. All that time spent making addons for ArmA, while not pointless, they are only going to need tweaking to reach ArmAII standards. It's like when Flashpoint was at its peak, they brought out ArmA, all those mods and addons were never used again by the Arma players. A perfect example would be the UK forces team, OPFrenchpoint and BWMod. They had some great stuff for flashpoint, unusable in ArmA unfortunatly. Now as there addons are taking some time to complete we wont be seeing them until the middle of next year. It's like a visious circle, where you get a new game but have to wait 2 years or more for any great addons. Oh well i just though i'd air my thoughts on this subject.

It's nice to read those things that wolle posted, but there's not much in there that jumps out and slaps me stupid. It's nice that we get more vehicles and weapons to play with, it's nice that we'll be getting a new improved island to play on but when you see the AI unable to hop over a tiny fence and the exact same tank combat from 2001, well it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. A lot of the info that wolle posted is just superficial. It's not new in terms of gameplay and simulation. If i could have one thing improved vastly in ArmAII it would be the AI ability to control vehices in a realistic manner, on and off road. That one thing would make me a happy person.

I'm way more optomistic about OFP2 than i am for ArmAII. What you guys have to remember is that this will be CM first real step into the massively scoped military simulation. BIS have been doing it for around 8 or 9 years. In all honesty can you say that ArmAII has improved that much in 9 years. Graphically it has improved immensly, but gameplay wise, it's reached it's peak. Still using the same stiff death animations, still has way too many minor faults in the combat effectivness of every AI controlled vehicle. I'm hopeing beyond hope that OPF2 delivers what it promises. Not to get one over on BIS (though they have stagnated a little too much in those 9 years) but just to give this genre a much needed boost. For me it's all about realism, CM are promising that, BIS have never realy deliverd it in all this time. -
After watching, i'd pretty much agree with the above quote. What irks me though is how members post on these forums, regarding the tank combat and animations, saying that there's still 8 months to tweak these issues, when they have been present since 2001. If they havn't fixed them by now they never will. After the farse that was ArmA i will certainly be reading a good few previews before handing over any cash this time. I know that ArmA is primarily a MP game, the AI just doesn't cut it in most missions and the SP campaigns havn't been all that good. Now ArmAII is based on a five man team i'm that more saddened that my time in the flashpoint world is coming to an end. I'm a grunt type of player, not a spec ops. Spec ops missions are far easier to create then large combined armed assaults. Here's hopeing OFP2 can save me,oh the irony.

AimPoint Desert Weapons 1.3
mr reality replied to AimPoint's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I'm fairly certain that this bug is normal if your using the weapon with the eotech sight. -
I feel a bit foolish posting this, as no doubt there is either a simple explantion or it has been mentioned already because it was present in the 1.5 version also. I can't seem to get the grenade launcher to fire. I've tried reloading but it doesn't reload either. Am i missing something a blind man would see .
-
I disagree. Probably the most intense moments I've had in Arma was the ambush after spending 10-15 minutes placing my soldiers. Hopefully with this it should be easier. Well this is where we agree to disagree then. I don't like having to 'baby sit' my squad, and i would much prefer the AI to be able to find a good location on its' own. "squad, stealth, find cover, watch direction". Also if we are able to just flit between all the squad members in any mission then that will not make for a very challenging and immersive campaign. I like to play missions like how SaS TrooP explained. I much prefer the story element of a conflict through the eyes of one soldier. Ok, in flashpoint we used four different personalities, but this was so we could see the conflict from all four branches of the armed forces, Infantry, armoured, plane and helo.
-
Nothing in that video stood out, apart from the mention of no dynamic characters. Being able to switch between the four squad members, tells me the campaign will be about as immersive as a 2mm deep bath. I liked the rotating fan in the hind though....
