I've just spent the last 5 hours tweaking my options and i even rolled back my display driver and i'm still getting the exact problem your getting. When i just think i've solved the problem the glitches reappear. It may have something to do with texture quality as when i have my options on very low or low i havn't had the problem. I've disabled shadows and the problem persists. I can have my settings on normal and it's fairly stable but if i try and tweak any option further it's abit of a gamble. But when you've got a machine with 4 NVIDIA 7950 GX2s each with 512MB in Quad SLI you get the feeling this game should run better than normal settings  I would appreciate one of the devs enlightening us as to whether this is fixable or are we just the unlucky few. I would hate to think that i may never be able to play this game on my current and most probably last PC  . @kenjara I can't justify running ArmA on mormal settings with the system i'm currently useing. If i can't run this game with atleast high settings then there's a problem somewhere. I may as well go back to flashpoint rather than run Arma on normal .

I had shadows disabled when i took this screenshot. I had this glitch in the demo version also but the latest demo patch seemed to not fix it but it didn't happen as often. I have Quad SLI Nvidia 7950gtx and i've got the latest driver. When this happens ingame i can go into the options and change the resolution and it fixes it, but it returns again after a few minutes. ArmA is the only game i get this glitch with just like the original poster. It seems to be a graphics card glitch, but how can it only occur with ArmA.

I ordered from play.com and it was posted yesterday. Heres hoping it arrives on friday or i'll be mighty pissed. When i read Jackal326 post about his CTD it made me shudder.

I served in the British army some time ago and when i was issued with the GPMG (Gimmpy) i had to carry it like a normal weapon. The reason for this was so the enemy would not be able to identify the MG soldier and take him out first. The weapon did have a sling attached but it was heavy. The ArmA weapon models just havn't got slings which makes it look odd when you see the 240 soldier carrying it like he does. Or maybe us brits are a tougher bunch than you yanks Â
-
The only problem i see with having your gamma slider set all the way to the left is that it may be harder to see the opfor when there in shadow, because looking at your screenshot it was dark. There must be a reason why the gamma is set on the default level. Maybe something to do with eyestrain.

Very nice video Hutson, some superb work there. Are the majority of characters in the video actual players as i saw a soldier leaning round a wall.

Great vid BraehlerM. This is the only thing thats made me laugh all day. The shear crazyness

I would say a combination of both of these but the emphasis is more on the weapon movement itself as it feels too slow. This only applies when i'm aiming at a target at around 200 metres away. The best example is in the demo co-op where you see the group of 4-5 opfor when you first head north towards the town. When i engage them from the top of my starting position, this is where i get the sluggish feeling when i'm trying to get my bead on a target. Actually it could be that i'm just getting used to the aiming again as i havn't played flashpoint in over 3 months. Some FPS games are more responsive than ArmA and maybe that's why this feels sluggish. I've been playing GRAW on the 360 and then i started to play the ArmA demo, that might be the reason  . I wonder if the others who are getting the same issue have only just started playing ArmA and there not used to the aiming yet. Do you think i'm clutchhing at straws Â

Feedback on the demo from a U.S. LAN party
mr reality replied to =jps=sgtrock's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Maybe the omision (except in the CTI)of a helo and plane is due to the fact there difficult to master. So a newcomer to ArmA would be put off by this. I will admit that if i hadn't been playing flashpoint for 4 years prior to this demo i would definitely be put off. I've only played the co-op locked so i play singleplayer and it's drove me crazy. I've played it countless times (trying different tactics with differing weapon loadouts and such) and i've only acheived it once, and then it didn't trigger the helo extraction. Â I only play singleplayer and i was more than a little upset to see the exact same command method. I'm not an expert typist and i havn't got a degree in computer studies so it takes me a while to remember cetain key configurations, and this game certainly has a few of them. 3 keys to change formation, infact i think it's 3 keys for just about everything. In the heat of battle you really need to know which squad member is armed with the AT weapon because if your too late with the order you could loose half your squad to a BRDM. Infact i don't trust the AI armed with the AT weapon (there crap at aiming and take too long getting back to prone after firing it) so i usually take it for myself. -
You read my mind. Although i would opt for the L-410 that Dwarden suggested. It would be perfect as i loved the one made by the CSLA mod.

So you havent read the tread yet and you havent changed your vsync setting on your driver options? And well, you cant aim as fast as you can move your mouse like in UT or whatever, it could be modded but it would be weird, noone can make a 360 within 0.5 second without any confusion I'll have to agree with Reddog on this one. I've set vsync to off and it hasn't changed. Reddogs explanation is spot on. My aiming is very sluggish and if i have to adjust because of a moving target it feels like the weapon weighs a ton. My system specs are not a problem either as i can play this game on full settings with plenty to spare, so it's not a FPS issue. It's not a 360 turn thats the issue, it's just aiming slightly from left to right or vice versa while looking through the scope/ironsight view.

I think you could be right. The box doesn't look very thick, so i'm assuming the special edition only contains the added features and nothing else. I hope i'm wrong as this wouldn't amount to a special editioin if the other regular editions will be able to download the addons via a patch.

I saw this on the main ArmA website... Can anyone confirm it's actually been implemented as i've only got the demo and didn't notice anything different. Mainly because when i heard an explosion i was usually standing next to it, so i was killed.

I have the demo and i'd like to know what settings the terrain and view distance are set to. My terrain looks fantastic so i'm assuming it's set at high.

Delta Force Units for ArmA
mr reality replied to Punisher_1509's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
There's a sticky at the top of this forum which reads "addon requests". Now if the mods have placed that here i don't see what the problem is. Apart form the request should of been placed in there i don't know why your having a moan. Jackal326 if we ALL could model and texture then you do know your sevices wouldn't be required right . Plus did i read right when i read on the BIS official site that there would be extra content provided free, made by the community. Well get cracking and no more excuses you lazy b******s (i know the tools arn't released yet before one of you mentions it again) -
I remember that mission very well. I just stole the helo and flew all the way to the northern part of the island. I finnished it in about 10 minutes. Second time i played it i got shot down by a shilka so had to walk what must of been miles. Like plaintiff1 said, it's all to do with how the mission is designed, it could be straight forward or very complex but the final decision is up to you and that's the beauty of Flashpoint/ArmA. The mission editor is were you'll have your fun with all the vehicles.

I request an MI24, now who's gonna make it Seriously though this thread is going to go to s**t pretty fast.

You'll be glad to know that they'll be doing just that when the 505 release/next patch is available. Shigsy has made clear some major flaws which are in ArmA and were there in Flashpoint that i will admit make me cringe when they occur, but i was sure we all knew that ArmA was only going to be an updated flashpoint so i can't see why that would put him off buying the game. I've been playing the demo and i'm not totally satisfied with what i've seen but i'll still buy the full game, and that's not because i'm a fanboy to BIS, it's because i've had hundreds if not thousands of hours of enjoyment out of flashpoint and i know i'll get the same from ArmA. I would say 25 pounds is a very small price for what i know will be some fun times ahead. By the way it's not possible to run this game with everything on full. When you set your view distance to more than 3000 ( i think) your terrain detail will only go to high and not very high. edit, my pound sign isn't working
-
When i get the full game i will be doing just that. Although i don't know how my wifes going to react to that. ArmA Â Â Â The wife

Messing about in the demo CTI as a single player i get missing M1A1 track sounds but the engine sound is still there. The AI reply sounds also get sped up and ..........actually i get quite a few missing sounds on the CTI...

I remember Offtimes Grom units and how there textures looked fantastic in the then OFP. Now seeing them here in ArmA is great. Good work YacieK, I'll deffinetly be looking forwards to these when i get the game in february. I see in your readme that there will be another version. Can you tell us what you have planned when the tools are made available. Here's hoping it will be desert AND woodland units.
-
I wouldn't call his idea nonsense as i remember when a mod team were making jungle units, people were discussing wether the sleeves would be rolled up or down and some suggested it wouldn't be right to have them rolled up in a combat situation. I can see were he's coming from when he mentioned the improper way they were rolled and even though it does sound like he's going too far towards realism just look at some of the addons that have been made for Flashpoint. Many of them have been made to look exactly like there real life counterparts ( Lasers units with smoke grenades attached for example) but without all the proper uses. what about all the work that was put into PUKF soldier units and there customisable regimental badges, also BWMod and there different colour berets, OFrP added custom rank patches. So you see people do like the real thing even to extremes. Being a former soldier myself i wanted to represent myself ingame and PUKF allowed this. How many of you have custom faces, if the ingame faces are adequit why change them. You do so because, 1) You can 2) You want to represent yourself ingame
-
@JB [sASMOD] Are you working independently or are you sharing things like textures and weapon models with PUKF. As you obviously know, Messiah and the other PUKF guys made a superb L96 rifle pack and it would be a waste if two British mod teams made independent weapon and unit packs. I like my addons to be consistent and therefore i would opt to use PUKF weapons with your SAS units because i wouldn't want two identical weapon packs in my addon folder. I also prefer it when the same countries soldier units look the same ie, uniform and webbing textures. This may sound like i won't appreciate your hard work but i've never understood why two talented British mod teams don't just join forces. If i've missed something i appolagise but i just want British forces to be represented in ArmA even more than they were in flashpoint. Good luck with your projects though and i eagerly await there coming...

It's a shame that we have to think like this but it's true. I would get some strange looks if i wore an ArmA T-shirt in public, especially in todays UK were image means soooo much to the majority. Germany and eastern europe on the other hand doesn't suffer from this so i can see why it's included in there version.
-
"Sigh", that map's useless, what does it show, it has absolutley no use for a tactical simulation game. I want the ingame map as that would be very usefull. I also couldn't care less about the ammo box as it would only get put under my desk and forgotten or used as a bin. A T-shirt is only suitable for people who don't go outdoors when there wearing it, yet another useless inclusion. The music isn't to my taste so i don't need that either. The currently available special edition should be renamed, "Geeks Edition".
