    Check out my settings for tweaking tips.

    Textures: Very High doesn't cost much at all.

    Objetcs and Terrain: High or higher draws a lot of juice.

    Shadow: Change to HIGH immediately. For many users LOW cuts more framerate than HIGH does because of how the load is balanced between cpu and gpu.

    HDR: Change to high. Otherwise the sky will be completely white and the colours will be all messed up.

    1600/1300 visibility is good. Don't change Shadow. In my testing lowering it did not increase framerate and increasing it did lower framerate.

    I would recommend all blur and depth of field on because they didn't impact performance for me and decrease temporal aliasing and even spatial aliasing to some degree.

    SSAO should be off. Never found out what Caustics does though but I think it only works underwater.

    Anisotropic filtering should be Ultra but it really doesn't matter... all that matters is on/off both for appearance and performance. It's a strange setting really.

    Changing Textures and HDR to Very High/High gets me 60FPS. But when ever I try to slide Obejct and Terrain to High it drops down to 30 immediately. Same goes out for HDR and the High-setting, so i turned that one still off.

    I am ust still wondering, why only one of my two GT750s is working :/

    Had to switch it up , the store that had the Y510p ran out , So after 2 days of being pissed off I found this one :

    Seems better then the one I picked befor and only 100 euros more , I can pop in more RAM if needed easy . GFX card is better too . And after finaly figuring out how to messure computere screeens Im happy with 17,3" hah .

    finally had a chance to try out the Beta on the Y510p (GT750 SLI and 16GB Ram) and it looked really good to me. You have to know I come back to pc gaming from like 6 pr 7 years of gaming on consoles, so everything looks good to me :D I may have to play with the settings a little but my framerate didn't drop below 30fps, which I am totally Ok with.

    My settings so far:

    1920x1080 (16:9)

    Sampling: 100%

    Texture and Objects: High

    Terrain: High

    Shadow: Low

    Particles: Standard

    Clouds: Disabled (I'm not into flying, so...)

    Pip: Disabled (else consumes a lot of frames, e.g. when driving)

    HDR: Low

    Dynamic Lights: Low

    Visibility: Overall: 1600, Obejct: 1300, Shadow: 100 (never touched those yet tbh)

    Radial Blur, Rotation Blur, Depth of Field, SSAO and Caustics: Off

    Antialising, AToC: Disabled

    Anisotropic Filtering: Very High

    I will have to play around a little in the coming weeks. Somehow only one of my two GT750M is used till now. The other one is not doing anything :D Is there already SLI support for the beta?

    Oh I was trying to get a 15.6" , damn inches messed me up 39cm is about 15.6" inches .

    Also just ordered the Y510p but with 16Gig Ram and GT750 SLI :)

    It should arrive tomorrow, so let's wait and see how it is then.

    Ops, a bit late now. I would register at any overclocking forum and ask in the laptop section. Overclockers usually know what they’re talking about and you should be able to get a lot of expert advice from people who do nothing but buy new laptops all the time there. I really can’t say exactly how laptop components perform and really don’t know anything about if there are other better, cheaper, better and cheaper or more price effective laptops on the market.

    I would recommend buying the cheaper one, trying it out and returning it if it doesn’t suit you. Most stores give you 14 days, right?

    Hi everyone.

    Thanks to you again Sneakson for your input!

    Though I am coming from the console player side I am not into fancy ultra HD graphics and/or 60 fps. I just want to play my beloved Arma series again I thought, and as I need a new laptop till end of july anyway I thought of getting a rig that can handle Arma3.

    Now I found out the Y500 gets a successor, the Y510 with following spec:

    CPU: Intel® Core™ i7 4700MQ at 4x 2,40 GHz

    GPU: Dual NVIDIA GeForce GT750M SLI with 2x 2048 MB

    RAM: 16 GB

    This machine is available at my country for about 1099€. The older Y500 thingy now of course gets cheaper.

    So would you recommend to go with the newer model or take one of the older models?

    ARMA3 on laptop... wouldn't recommend. But if you're prepared to pay the same amount of money as for a stationary computer there are some alternatives nowadays.

    thank you for your answer. The problem is, I do not have that much space to set up a desktop machine at my place. I planned on buying a new laptop for work anyway and therefore I am looking for a machine which could handle Arma3, Take on Mars etc. I played on consoles the last years so I do not worry too much about good looking graphics. Just want to play Arma3 again My budget about max. 1300€.

    What about such machine, Lenovo Y500 it was I think:

    Intel Core i7-3630QM @ 2.4 GHz

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M SLI - 2x 2048 MB, 790 MHz, 1000 MHz

    16 GB RAM

    Any more ideas?

    Hej guys,

    I was thinking of buying a new laptop for work. And it should be capable of playing Arma3 and Take on Mars etc.

    Do you guys have some nice thingys for me? I have no clue about laptop hardware and stuff.

    Problem is, I do not have enough space for a real gaming rig, so I have to go with a laptop.

    I've done a quick search alreaedy but didn't find helpful results :(

    Is this the right place to post such a request?

    hello guys.

    long time, no speaky. i was working on some HESCO barrier stuff last year about this time and got too busy with RL and sorting out other stuff since then, so I had no time at all for ArmA Addon making or those HESCO barriers, so i wanted to release the work I have done, for you, the great ArmA community. maybe someone of you great guys finds some spare time and interest in this stuff. I know, they are far from finished and despites that I am not that great addon maker like you guys. It was my first attempt in releasing an addon, but now it's up to you!

    Feel free to edit, rework or change this stuff and get it going if you guys want to!

    Thanks goes out to Royal Blackwatch, Pauliesss, SqueeleR, BattlingBitch and VXR, for your great help with this stuff I worked on!

    There came a T-Shirt with the German collectors edition.

    Still the size is "M" and therefore I never used it as it´s simply way too small. Don´t ask me why the german publisher sent out M size T-Shirts. It´s simply stupid, but if you are something like a dwarf or even worse, a female wow_o.gif , you probably would have fun with it.
