Have you played over a longer period than 30 minutes with the lite version? I am very sure the onscreen ads (the big view obstructing one) is enough to make anyone remotely interested in playing with Karts in ArmA 3 to buy this addon. And it´s fine that way, i wont interfere. Myself, i am going to end up buying Karts DLC anyway aswell. *blushes* To be honest i really would have better asked for BI´s approval first, i´m seeing the lack of gentleman'ness (:E). I didn´t for a number of reasons, mainly stated in the readme but also beacuse i thought it was okay, and BI must have known smth. like this will be coming. Seeing how far discussions (or accusations of theft oO) are already going, i learned to be more cautios with my assumptions.

They have a racing professional for QA/programming? Holy cow, good for them! I wouldn´t expect that level of fidelity in ArmA though, its a little too far stretched. Don´t get me wrong, theres still "that dream-game" where every aspect of Sea/Air/Land in ArmA would be it´s own full on realism sim. All ArmA needs is some more sense. Only few of us might have shot a rifle in their lifes, but all of us might agree that arma handles rifles pretty well. That sort of stuff needs to be done to the other aspects :)

My 214 hrs record on steam says otherwise about 07, but you´re right with simbin, the poor GTR3 will never see light of day because of those sellouts.... And to get this back ontopic quickly: The damage system in Race07 is quite believable imho. When i bump my tyres with crazy speed against a wall, they fall off. But never have i encountered the moments when you just go "oh you´ve got to be kidding me, that cannot have happened from that!" It´s also got deformable bodys - after hitting something, it´ll leace some nice dents in your cars. And the game is from 2007 :o

Too often i´ve seen guys drive into wooden fences (the real flimsy ones) with a UAZ, shrugging it off on TS as accident, when suddenly the whole frickin car bursts into flames killing all passengers - its such an ridicoulous fun/immersion-killer you cannot deny it! Race07 lets go! :bounce3:

The diagram explains it well. I should´ve watched closer. So essentially some arma community pages could just host a few files with little bandwith usage and everything might be good to go, with X alternative query hosts ready in case one drops out, sounds good!

Its a relief to see you guys rushing to aid an old comrade (OFP), thumbs up! Some questions regarding the hosting space for your mentioned solutions: -How much bandwith would it require per x period of time? -How much maintenance would it require per x period of time? -Is it possible to have multiple urls/ftps hosting the same stuff (backups)? -Will it come with unwanted security risks attached?

Solutions must not automatically be a good thing. There´s lots of shit moves which go by the name of "solutions"... To be fair, at least BI is adressing the situation - i´ve read on PC Gamer they are the first of all gamespy'y devs to act on this. Then again, you sure as hell would think that an MP centric game such as ArmA series would get proper treatment in times like this! Forcing steam onto people who, until now, could happily just stay with A2 is the wrong thing to do imho (impending clusterfuck). It´s also wrong to just abandon the bigger part of games which made you big and which are still loved by people. Then comes the question of "what happens to my non steam ArmA2 CO". BI hasn´t even cleared that up, they probably dont know themselves yet. But i guess you cant have everything. Zombies sell so much easier..

Better solution tbh would´ve been to start thinking about this whole deal much, much earlier! It´s sad enough that this will definately end the era of OFP (the original) for good.. really can´t (under)stand the white knighting here. It´s been well known for more than one year, around middle of 2013 iirc it was on most gaming pages. Gamespy might even have sent out newsletters (?! :D) to all their business contacts. BI, as a professional developer, cannot have missed the info in any way imaginable.
