Yes, a disaster through the sanctions that were so loved by the same countries that started the war. Â Both you and your American friends were very much involved in creating the "massive disaster. This should have been solved through the UN. The inspectors should havee been allowed to complete their inspections. The the world would pat Saddam on the head saying that he has been a good boy (about as we do with Libya now) and lift the sanctions. International relations would be restored. Human rights would be improved through condition loans: "be a good boy and we'll lend you money". Without firing one shot, you could have transformed Iraq to a responsible world member and a positive influence in the middle east. Not to mention that Iraq would have become a valuable partner in the "War on terror" instead of a giant recruiting base for terrorists as it is now. You meen saddam (who started the war) loved the sanctions? erm yea we where doing that for 10 years plus and it got us nowhere, saddam woul never have come into the fold like Libya.

If you read the source I posted you´ll see that they shelled Basra city. That was no UN decision. It was the decision of Bush sr. to stop, not the UN´s decision. Sorry ? Pls explain and post sources. i was talking of indescriminate shelling, i did read the article it was asmall note from a reporter in the field IIRC so at the time it could be innacurate but it did state that they where shelling military and militia targets, again IIRC the invasion of iraq to oust Saddam Hussein was not in the UN Mandate and thus because it was not we left saddam in charge, also we went into GW because of the invasion of Kuwait, just because oil was there made it more urgent but we would have done it in any other case around the world. why do i need to post sources on what i feel about the U.N, they are the worlds toothless tiger. quicksand, its my opinion, i feel that we should have gone further in GW1, thats not the main reason why i wanted to go to war, i never wanted to go to war, but tbh the U.N created a massive disaster in dealing with iraq and it needed cleaing up, US aint done a great job in cleaing it up but there trying, also Read:Oil erm yea so how come oil prices are going up if we have supposidly taken all the oil for ourselves. If this post is incoherent then that is because im bloody knackered due to lots of hockey and it being damn hot all day. PPS the elctions are being held nxt year, why cant YOU understand that governments are not built in a day and neither are the politics of a country. you cant just have an election straght after a war.

So this is it ? This justifies to put the ME into a mass killing of civillians ? Really ? no its my opinion and mine alone, i felt we should have finished off Iraq after Kuwait, the U.N should have allowed us to take Iraq and impose a new leader/democracy as clearly the people were willing, but as usual the U.N does t by 1/2 measures so instead we are in the position we are now. "indescimate shelling" tell me more on the story, where they shelling a field in the middle of the desert, or was it built up, they where shelling specific targets, not indesciminate shelling.

I agree with you. Â And yes I was not believing that "100 were slaughered, with bayonets". Â It ws either 20 with some portion using bayonets or 100 with indiscriminate shelling (artillery or tanks). Â I guess the Brits are not doing that anymore then. Â did the sun say 100 dead, i dont think they did, the UK have never to my knowledge used indescimate shelling in the south.

For what reasons, then, do you feel it was right to invade Iraq? And if your answer has nothing to do with oil and everything to do with saving people from despotic regimes then what's keeping you out of Burma and Sudan and North Korea and Zimbabwe and... and... and... ? Slightly to do with human rights and alot to do with what we should have done in the early 90's and carried on into baghdad after driving them out of Kuwait.

Never disputed the fact that civlians are killed, i still believe we were right to go to iraq, but not for the reasons that Blair gave me. Article

not only a bit, it is very biased. but not more biased than bbc - only in the other direction. and i don't know if you can talk about "biased" when you're talking about fox/cnn   you cannot even consider the BBC being as biased as Al Jazeera  i would say there slightly biased but they never go out of there way, even with the entire shitstorm over iraq that has gone of late.

They (AJ) scew the facts, those people where not tortured, they where most probally gunned down or bayoneted, but they report it as being tortured, they only report it as torture because of what the US troops have done. i never said Al jazeera was unbiased for the opposite actually i reqard them as the Sun of the Arab world or the Fox equivalent, but they seem to sensationalise baby killings and blame it on any non arab country without investigating it further, also the thats the HQ of AP but IIRC there fairly international when it comes to reporters, also IIRC UN hq is in NY are they not to be trusted? ps i was being sarcastic about al jazeera, because of quicksand he thinks there holyier than tho.

Stick it into Shia Iraqis that had nothing to do with Saddam gouverment and have not opposed the invading forces in the war.Men with famillies that waited patiantly for an YEAR for you to keep your promises and to respect them as human beings and now are fighting to eliberate their country.stick it to em  .. I can understand that you are reliefed that your country didn`t suffer casualties, but how can you want this men death is far beyond my comprehension. Yes "Stick it to em" was a comment to my countries Armed forces, it was a comment related to the fact they had to fix bayonets to attack morter positions instead of calling down an arty strike on a densly populated civilian area after themselves beign ambushed twice, how am i supposed to feel after they attack my countries troops (UK not US) when all they are doing is trying to rebuild there country and who have always been diplomatic when it comes to problems with the locals, they have always sat with the locals and dicussed there grievences, how can i be sure that the mortar position  did not cause this. Image sorry its from AP and not the holy fair unbiased Al Jazeera, also "Stick it to em" is slang for give it to em or your doing a good job keep it up.

The same thing as before. The alledged inconsistencies in the photos have been explained by British soldiers actively serving in Iraq. Furthermore several witnesses have come forward saying that the things that are shown in the photographs indeed occur on a regular basis and some of those witnesses have even admitted that they have participated in such acts. There has been no proof presented of them being fabricated. So I think we're still at square one in that investigation. I do however hope that they are fake as I've so far thought that the British troops were fairly competent in their handling of their region in Iraq. I have also worked with British soldiers and I have a high respect for their training and discipline. However, if the picturues are real then it is certain that it was a question of policy rather than soldiers beahving badly. British officers keep the enlisted men on a very short leash and there is no way in hell they would have not known what was going on. Assuming that it did happnen, that is. Sorry but im gonna have to clear up some things, i was ill all day so i watched it when the Lancastershire Regiment was talking to the press, firstly thay have found the Bedford Truck from the photo, it was the stitching of the canvas and the metal grid inside the truck that gave it away, Secondly its looking like TA people did this as the Truck was found in the TA section of the Base, Thirdly yes Beatings do happen in war and 1 person has died in British custody and these investigations are ongoing and the details of these investigations are bneing held back due to legal reasons till the investigation has been finished, the RMP won't show the Truck to the press because it would jepordise future court action.
