Shemaghs have long since become a commercial item for soldiers. Norwegians included. Whereas before they used to pretty much restricted to Arab armies and Brits on operations in parts of their former empire (Yemen/Aden, Palestine etc.) they have now become commonplace for just about everyone, be it on deployment to the Middleast or not. For our part, it's not a regulation dress, nor issued, but something you wear in part to show respect for the Arab/muslim parties you're working with and/or by, as well as to "look cool" when around on patrol (It does look quite a bit better than anything we're issued). Just like SF and the very early Norwegian contingents to A-stan wearing the Pakhool hats and growing beards when among the civilian population, it builds bridges and shows you're somewhat on the same wavelength as the locals. Cheers, Marcus

Ah, nothing like waking up to a wailer at 5am...

Aye, believe one to be in the works. Apart from that, there's a minimi para on line.

Wrong, sćrskrivning is for hookers and fat people! *Bender mode off* Now on a more serious note, there are a couple of more pictures i took. This time members of NORSOF conducting a training excercise at Khartoum Intl. in preperation for possible scenarios they might face during their deployment. We're still using BAS M4's, but are working on proper weaponry for the people. Again, overall this is WIP. Cheers, Marcus

Some sort of Swedish radio operation ;-)

Reconmercs, The information found at that site is mostly wrong and outdated. There isn't really any good sites about Norwegian special forces with regards to pictures, or information for that sake. But that goes with the nature of of the job. If you're interested, the following sites have some information and pictures, but are in Norwegian. So if you don't know Scandi they might be somewhat hard to navigte. http://www.marinejeger.no Official Norwegian "Navy SEAL" recruitment and information site. http://www.mil.no/haren....=201836 Army Special Forces recruitment and information site. Also the site for the Fallskjermjeger unit. Not SF but some pretty hard conscripts.

Should be possible, but i guess that comes down to what side we put our units on Unless you like manual editing, that is. J/K Should make for some interesting missions, yeah! Ironsight, We'd be needing new weapon models with recoil-boosters attached, miles laser gear and new freezing Brits animations... DiabloTerror, Yeah i get you. Looks like we might have to do a Tibet mission or two then... Where's that PLA troop pack!?

Let me add something to the above post, the reason we're not having winter units done kwiktaem is our concept of doing addons of Norwegian soldiers in operation, and not here in Norway. The country has long been involved in missions abroad, and most of hotspots around the world are around the equator plus/minus a few paralells. We are not aiming for a mod or fictional campaign involving a future war with Sweden, or Russia for that sake. So for now, unless we get dragged into the future liberation of Tibet or joint-ops with Russia in Chechnya (Chances = None) we won't be needing winter units for some time. Cheers, Marcus

At the moment we only have soldiers with Telemark Bataljon berets (has it's reasons), a version with boonies, and helmets w/balaclavas. I'll hear with the guys if there'll be a possibility to do different berets too. In that case 6.division blue, black, GP/GSV, MP might be plausible. Also stadard moss-green. IMO there's no reason to do the HJK-FJ maroon one as they hardly use it any other time than in base and ceremonial. There is a Fallskjermjeger/MJK/Spesialjeger and/or HV-016 universal unit on the line, as said, Viking is working on some nice stuff there. As said, we won't be making individual units for the two SOF units in the military, you wouldn't be able to tell them apart in-field anyhow. These are somewhat down the line and probably won't be included in a teaser type pack. Other than that, i don't know yet if there's any of this hiddenselection business up for making, but if so, there might be individual patches for different units etc. Still having downtime on the computer. Probably be buying a new videocard very soon, so i'll get back on track with the texture stuff... Cheers, Marcus

Well, what still needs to be done on regular soldiers; - Some cleaning up on the models. - Woodland textures needs to be overhauled. Not as bad as it sounds, shouldn't take more than a couple of hours of solid work ;-) - Some other textures needs making/finishing. Mostly done, just needs final touches and a "Good To Go" stamp. - Some scripting and coding needs implementing AFAIK. Viking is the guy to comment on that. Also, Jahve is doing a suite of weapons. He'll probably get back to you on that. We're discussing a way of perhaps getting some of the stuff out to the community at an earlier date, then as a teaser/beta, but that's all i can say on that for now. Viking/Jahve can probably add some to this post. Cheers, Marcus

Bratty, i've written some words on yer forum. Keep in touch if you wish. Cheers, Marcus

Ah, WW2 in the Pacific, my "favorite" theater... I could perhaps have a go as a texture artist for soldiers, i'm currently involved with Norwegian Forces Studios as one, and would have to prioritize this for now, but a parttime job would probably be possible. I've also been travelling quite a bit in and around the Solomons, Guadalcanal/New Georgia and could be an advisor on certain matters. PM If you wish... Cheers, Marcus

My word, you CoC lot never cease to amaze me... This is just so incredible stuff!

From what i gather, following units have already gotten their mitts on new guns: - SF on Diemacos for the most. - Marines (Kystjegere) on G36. - Naval EOD (Minedykkerkommandoen) on G36. - And the current Telemark Taskforce in Kabul on G36. However don't know what the status on these will be after Cav-Bn takes over, if they get them or they follow TMBN back home. However, there is still a trial going on between G36 and C8/SFW. I'm hearing that there is a slight discontent with the G36. It's mainly been coming from the Marines complaining about performance in their AO, but also sand clogging the insides during OPs in Kabul. A good few in Telemark Bataljon are pressing on getting a number of Diemacos, but the cost of these are three G36 to one C8/SFW apparently. They might get lucky, especially seeing that they share the same base as Army SF who use them as standard. Anyhow, enough offtopic ranting for now, i'm going back to get my cussed computer back online! Thanks again for comments peeps! Cheers, Marcus

Aye, definately!

You'd be surprised how well 256x256 textures or higher looks on Flashpoint with all graphics settings at max in "Flashpointpreferences.exe". It's very much so possible to do VBS quality stuff on OFP-R. These addons look great, keep the good work up!

None other, lol! Great piccies Viking, i'll be online again shortly. Experiencing some video card problems for the time, so my rig is down ATM

For texture work, i'd really like to recommend the Photoshop camoflage addon available here: http://www.v-d-l.com/adrenaline_camouflage.html I'm using this for work on the garment textures of our mod, and it really eases things up. Using photos for textures i've found doesn't work that good, so i go for this plugin, combined with several other filters. Results are quite good IMO. If you want some pointers, i'd be happy to assist! Right is camo straight from generator, left is good to go, but without creases, folds and weathering applied.

Hey, i'm not sure if a Herc or Orion is on the line. The Herc is already out there, so a reskin could be a possibility. Shadow, pictures always helps, so if it's not too much of a hassle, we'd sure appreciate it. Later all! Btw, our temporary site has a little secret you's might wan't to look for... ;-)

Start here: http://www.sounddogs.com/start.asp You might have to end up paying for the really high-quality stuff though...

Some more Sudan stuff here. Random patrol in the desert somewhere. Oh and yes, there is a desert version of the vehicle on the line. Cheers, Marcus
-
Well, it's already out there. It probably wouldn't be too much of a problem to do a plain version, make it JAM compatible and include a soldier with it. However, this will have to be discussed among the group first. It should be considered a bonus in that case. ;-) 1C4, slutt

Believe the plan as of now is to get TMBN and NORSOF (we're aiming at not doing individual MJK/Spes.Jeger units as you can't really distinguish them on kit and loadout) out first. Also the jeep pictured. Later there'll be some more stuff. The AG3, AFAIK, is not currently planned to be released as standard arm for the men. We aim for a slightly futuristic setting, something like Earl and Suchey's marines, with just C8's and the such. We do intend to have a DMR version of the AG3 included set up with a bipod and ACOG. One per team is the current plan. Anyhow, if anyone has any views, opinions, feedback or the such, basically anything except questions about release dates, we don't mind a mail. Drop us a line! Cheers, Marcus

Howdy, some screenies from a future mission to Sudan. Telemark Bataljon conducting a VCP somewhere... I couldn't be arsed to use all those custom anims out there, so just standard stuff for now. Still a bit to be done with textures and the models, bit things are drawing close. I'll see if i'll get some piccies up from the unit representing the more mystery shrouded part of our army tomorrow. Terpentin, Not a problem there mate. Just don't be so hasty with the accusations next time

You're Bwmod judging by your sig, right? Well, we have asked your mod, and we did get permission to use your GD as a base. So i'm giving your right back to you! Get your facts straight before you start to poke turds.
