    Very wise words there...

The underlying issues that lead to murders must be confronted first.

  2. If only it could change into a 15 metre high robot, and we'd have a Transformer smile.gif seems only a matter of time before we see Optimus Prime in service with the US Army smile.gif

From what i've heard, it's not designed primarily as an offensive 'counter-terrorist' truck, one which will chase terrorists down streets etc. (which it could do, however) but as an electronic surveillance/intercept vehicle. But it definitely has, as Tex said, propaganda value.

  3. Technicals would be a good idea for the normal resistance as well...you'd expect them to have a bunch of civilians utes/pickups and some heavy MGs lying around. It'd be really good to see some more improvised weapons for the resistance, who would probably make use of anything they have...

Also, if anyone's interested, it's be good to have a technical with a recoilless rifle/AT gun in the back, like the one in Black Hawk Down...

  4. I doubt a transport aircraft would be flying a route that would take it in range of SAMs or in danger of being engaged by enemy fighters - if it had to cross dangerous airspace there would probably be friendly fighter flying CAPs around the area anyhoo...

As for AWACS - which generally do operate in quite risky areas - it's probably a matter of room (to fit all the equipment in - the Phalanx's/Goalkeepers have rather chunky acquisition systems) and that if you did have enough room, you could only mount it in one area. For example, if you mounted it in the tail, enemy fighters (who you'd expect would learn about the tail gun) would simply attack the aircraft from a different direction.

I would be incredibly disturbed if I saw my General rocking up to inspect his troops on a Segway wow.gif

Well who knows, Calvary units could become a thing of the past, with individual soldiers riding into battle on their chobham-armoured Segways!

  6. I asked this question in the Kord thread in WIP, and since this topic is sorta heading this way, I didn't want to drag up the other thread..

What is the difference - if any - between the Kord 12.7mm and the HCB 12.7mm? They look exactly the same to me...

Note: I'm not talking about the M2HB, I'm talking bout the HCB, a Russian - AFAIK - heavy machine gun

  7. Excellent addon - love the optics especially smile.gif

Just one little point - it's absolutely devastating when it blows up. From 10m or so away you'll die, and from 20m or thereabouts you'll get badly injured...perhaps a smaller explosion or no explosion at all? Either of those would be fine smile.gif

I'm pretty sure that in the movie he uses a Czech 23mm gun, perhaps the one fitted to the ZSU-23-4......maybe...

    Very true...

UCE's Russian units are far and away the best textured units out there

  10. Looking pretty top-knotch - now the Russians have some heavy MG equivalent of the mounted M2HB biggrin.gif

One thing I've wanted to know for some time is if it's possible to simulate recoil/shaking when a mounted gun fires? Having the gun stay perfectly still doesn't seem right smile.gif

If so how have they got it to work wink.gif<span id='postcolor'>

They might have to make the 'shell' a 'bullet' - ie. just a tracer. But it probably won't be very noticeable...

Not a prob smile.gif While I was editing my post another 8 or so posts came up - posts are flying everywhere!

  13. It's more of an Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) - which pretty much evolved from Armoured Personnel Carriers in that it was thought it was a good idea if infantry actually had some protection on the battlefield...

The BMP-series is closer to the M2/M3 Bradley vehicles than M113 APCs.

Oh BTW, the term "tank" is used pretty loosely, especially by the general public, but seeing as you have other types of vehicles such as IFVs, APCs etc. you can probably narrow 'tanks' down to mean an tracked, armoured vehicle with heavier armour than an APC/IFV and with a large-calibre gun mounted on it. This definition excludes vehicles like the BMP, M2 Bradley and Self-Propelled Artillery.

  14. Really, really good addon here - model is very well done smile.gif I especially like the way you've done the minigun - heaps better than previous miniguns smile.gif

Can't wait for your special ops troops to come out, but don't rush em...it's worth the wait for work of this quality.

  15. Having a sort of civilian-oriented mod for OFP sounds like a good idea - the 'Working OFP' missions were pretty good, and nicely done. The problem is that such a mod/mission would necessarily have a lot of units (people, cars etc.) in it and this will bog down a lot of computers to a fair degree. It might be a good idea to release two versions - a unit intensive version for high-end comps, and one with fewer units for people with crappier computers smile.gif

I'm pretty sure BIS has said that having multiple gunners (and maybe being able to fire missiles from wheeled vehicles) would require an overhaul of the current game engine. This is more like something we can look forward to in a sequel/successor to OFP smile.gif

  18. Actually, the part in Vietnam I was thinking of was with AK47s, making that 'Hitman' sound (apparently accurate?) - but M16s in the movie also make the same sound, ie. when the special forces storm the Chinese prison at the end...some of the soldiers have M16s, which make the same noise as the AK47 in the Vietnam part. All the other AK47s have very different reports though.....

I think there's some M16 gunfire in the Lebanon part as well...

  19. Didn't they (or still do?) make hand-to-hand fighting (ie. punching/kicking) noises by smacking vegetables togeother?

The M16 sounds in 'Spy Game' were the same sounds they used on the M16 in 'Hitman 1', the game. Pretty bad choice if you ask me, if only for the fact that it reminded me of the game, which sorta detracts from the movie.

If there's one stock-sound I absolutely HATE, it's that retarded screaming noise in some movies, usually when someone falls off a cliff. Example - used in 'Broken Arrow' when that 'tough guy' falls off the train which is on the bridge, right near the end. They use the same crappy sound on a breakfast cereal ad here as well.
