Do you have the CAF_WLSAVR pbo in your addons folder? It's a common texture folder used by the Bison, LAV and Coyote, there should be a new one in the LAV zip. As far as lag on the optics it's a high res paa, it looks pretty but I imagine it could lag a bit on some systems. I will talk to Sigma about it. It doesnt lag for me but I have heard a few complaints in the past. Thanks for the comments. Yep, CAF_WLSAVR.pbo is in my Res/Addons folder...

Great work guys, I like the these a lot. The texture detail is outstanding! Just a few comments... - the Coyote seems to be missing a few textures, namely the interior (both gunner & driver), on the side of the vehicle and on the commander's optics. The LAV textures are all there. - the gunner's optics seem to lag quite a bit. This isn't a problem unique to this addon, as it's happened with other vehicle optics and sniper rifle scopes. It lags even when I'm on Desert Island, looking at nothing detailed and with view distance pretty low. It makes it pretty hard to use the optics...any ideas? Other than that, top-knotch!

[Poofy Art Critique voice] Oh, another masterpiece! [/voice] This is unbelievable! For such an enormous objective (new island, new OPFOR troops, campaign etc.) it is amazingly thorough! I can't imagine the man-hours this must have taken to get ready... The island just blew me away - the jungle areas are eerily realistic, especially when you increase the fog. The cities have that wonderfully horrid third-world feel to them, especially when you get stick a bunch of rebels and government troops in the middle to battle things out. I haven't experienced any bugs thus far, but I'm BAS will be on top of the ones that others have reported... As for my little 56K modem, it went hammer and tongs throughout the night with GetRight, so no complaints about the size... Brilliant work fellers! I think you guys deserve a break

You little RIPPER! A big thanks to the whole BAS team!

Those are looking great! I'm assuming the M4 on the Army version is a mounted weapon we can use?
-
No apologies necessary Any chance of compiling a list of the addons included?
-
This is fantastic! We sorely need a new animation between 'completely safe, shouldered weapon' and 'alert, under-fire'. There's something not right about having your squad patrolling along the countryside in a run/sprint or with their rifles shouldered. As others have said, this would be great to make into a mod, so it applies to all units. Perhaps later on we could make an 'uber-mod', combining all the great modifications that have been made so far. Anyway, looking great - can't wait!

I can understand that it might be difficult to host a 500Mb addon, but eMule is much too convoluted and frustrating for the majority of us to be bothered with. (Just to clarify, eMule is a Peer to Peer file sharing program) Hope you manage to come up with a good compromise

Ah ok - then a military 206 we must have! Anything released by Martin is cause for excitement, so I can't wait for some different variations on this chopper...
-
Isn't the OH-58/TH-57 Kiowa a military version of the 206? If so, BAS's Kiowa Pack has that pretty much covered Very nice work ... love it

I agree that not finding WMDs would most likely spell the end of Bush and Blair, but even finding WMDs will not necessarily save their administrations. Both leaders seem incapable of solving or even improving domestic problems ie. the economic downturn in the US. I seem to remember recent polls in America demonstrated that a greater proportion of citizens are more concerned about the state of the economy than success/failure in Iraq. Bush's mismanagement of the economy could seal his fate, regardless of the search for WMDs. Another concern that has largely overshadowed the issue of WMDs is the reconstruction of Iraq. As long as American/British soldiers are being killed (almost on a daily basis), domestic support for the effort in Iraq will continue to decline. Losing 365 troops a year for "as long as it takes" will do your reelection campaign no favours.

Very true, both the Voyager & the Frank E. Evans were the ones at fault. I missed that documentary, but I had the general jist of it described to me Does anyone know which US & Singaporean ships were sunk?
-
The Collins-class is actually based on a Swedish design, but were built here. I think British & German designs were considered, but not selected. It is nice to know that they aren't the bucket of crap the media makes them out to be. From what I've heard recently, most of the problems have been ironed out, and they are pretty much world-class now... As a side note, we came close to really sinking a US ship in 1969 when we accidently drove our only aircraft carrier into a US destroyer... From HMAS Melbourne info

As well as being a mindless prat, Rush Limbaugh also has the dubious honour of being a 'Chickenhawk', along with his good chums Bush and Cheney. For someone so keen to see military force used, to send young men and women into harm's way, it's ironic that Limbaugh deliberately avoided being drafted into the Vietnam War. His excuse? Ingrown hair follicle on his arse... Chickenhawk Database

LOL - I remember looking forward to Duke Nukem Forever a year or after Duke Nukem 3D. It's probably going to be delayed again once they realise how good HL2 & Doom III are What sort of engine will DNF use? I'm pretty sure the reason for the largest delay was that they switched from an UT-based engine to a Quake engine, or vice versa...or have they now decided to design a new one from scratch?
-
Hehe - Nice one Lee I haven't seen any in-game demonstrations of the Doom III engine, but the Half-Life 2 engine looks fantastic. I just hope both engines give us the level of interactivity with the environment that they promise... I've heard less than desirable things about the UT2004 engine though. I'm pretty sure it'll get overshadowed by HL2/Doom3.

My thoughts exactly - Kofi Annan and George W. Bush are complete opposites and, as such, have achieved completely different levels of respect. Bush's speech was nothing more than a reiteration of the tired old rhetoric that has been remorselessly pumped out of the White House for the last few months - nothing new, nothing even remotely convincing and most importantly, nothing resembling an appreciation of reality. When you have an administration of such colossal ignorance & aggressiveness, you can truly appreciate the perceptiveness, intelligence and compassion of a person like Kofi.

Look at the detail! Byoo-teeful (as per usual)! The old Skyraider textures, while good, needed some work & I'm grateful someone's risen to the challenge... Great stuff guys, can't wait till the next release of the Nam Pack

Good idea - I can imagine combat in Central Europe in particular would be quite different in summer than in winter and, as Major Gripe said, the monsoon season in SE Asia would be a bugger... Hopefully there'll be different types of rain effects - from torrential, cloudburst rain to light drizzle etc. Still, I don't really expect BIS to implement a realistic weather simulator, but it would be nice to have some more variations in weather.
-
Couldn't have said it better myself Keep in mind the that OFP universe is largely fictional - ie. fictional conflicts set in historically accurate context. BIS might end up creating a fictional, yet incredibly interesting, conflict in each of the locations. Also, by creating three different environments (Africa, Central Europe and SE Asia) we should essentially have all we need to create other environments anywhere in the world. It's hard to imagine BIS will sacrifice any of the features of OFP1 that made it such a popular game (ie. mission making, no "walls" etc.) just to implement other features, so we can all be pretty confident that whatever BIS has planned for OFP2 will be a step above what we have now...
-
Absolutely terrific work Goldmember! This has breathed new life into OFP - blowing things up is so much more satisfying now... Great to see you continuing to update the mod, keep up the good work

Civilian cars', Jeep and UAZ tires deflate when shot once, but it seems to take a bit more firepower to take out the tires of other cars/trucks ... maybe this is simulating stronger military tires?

Expanding beyound a tactical fps
Mr. Snrub replied to Dr Lothrian Remar's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Some good points here - a great deal of the OFP community is thinking along the same lines. I hope BIS will create a realistic atmosphere (involving a civilian element, animals etc.) for the campaign/s and single missions, but I think the key is for BIS to give the community the capability to implement these features later on. As seen with OFP, the community can be a huge factor in the longentivity of the game. Things like a civilian-oriented or safari campaign should be left to individual Mods within the community - so long as we get the capability to create them. As for processing power, Moore's Law does indeed state that commercially available processing power doubles approximately every 18 months, but it doesn't mean every (or indeed any) gamer will have the latest hardware. OFP2 should be able to take advantage of better gear, but it shouldn't require it.
