  1. rundll is correct, this topic has in fact been discussed to death on these forums. The result is always the same: the ARMA games use DirectX, not OpenGL, so they will not run natively on Linux unless BI decides to write a whole new renderer. (Among other things, such as the sound engine.)

Since there is very little chance of this happening, this thread can be closed.

The devs are still able to post in closed threads btw., so if they have anything to add to this, they can.

  2. Ok, the word "arbitrary" in my post was badly chosen. The laws against discrimination obviously apply everywhere, but these laws only cover discrimination against people because of their gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation etc. It is perfectly legal to refuse people service for other reasons, including difference of opinion. ;)

As applied to a forum like this one: say a moderator were to delete all of your posts and ban you for no apparent reason, you'd have great difficulty making a discrimination case.

Fortunately, we don't do that. :D

  3. 2. You actually have no RIGHT to complain. You have the right to a refund, but thats all. That BI allows you to visit this forum and spill fourth your bile is a PRIVELEGE. There is no such thing as free speech here.
Dude, you are VERY wrong on that point.
I was rereading the forum rules, and I failed to see in which point stated that it's not allowed to complain ( in an educated manner obviously )? Could any moderator give us some insight about that.

BTW as long as you live in a democratic country, in all of them there is free speech by law/constitution.

Actually, DM is correct. This is a privately owned forum, so BI could theoretically enforce any arbitrary rules that tickled their fancy - including the suppression of negative feedback if they so chose. It's like if you were invited into someone's home and then insulted their kids, they would have every right to kick you out.

Anyway, this thread is veering off topic, so let's please cut the meta-discussion. Questions about the forum rules, free speech and Steam's refund policy belong elsewhere.

  4. Isn't that called bait and switch?

Depends how you interpret what was written. ;)

(...) the full game will have a lot more actual content in the form of a campaign (...)

Even if the campaign is delayed by four weeks (ok, the first episode, with more to come, yadda yadda), this is not a false statement, per se. The game is getting a campaign, just not right away. (Insert BIS trollface.jpg)

DISCLAIMER: Before everyone jumps on me, yes I agree that delaying the campaign was (IMHO) a bad decision on their part. Delaying the whole game would have been preferable.

  5. Is this coming tomorrow ?

Btw. I deleted your identical post from the "disappointed with release content" thread, since A) it didn't belong there and B) no crossposting.

  6. If you take away the visual improvements, the game is pretty much the same since OFP.

Can't really say I agree, at least not 100%. The improvements are coming in slowly and incrementally, but they are happening. AI still aren't great, for example, but they're a lot better than they used to be.

I guess the main problem is that it's all going a little too slowly for some people. (Myself included, I must admit.)
