1-2 FPS on Altis and 60 fps on stratis.
maddogx replied to SpacemanSpiff's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yep, that's the plan; unfortunately that last poll was worded badly. Btw. by "bogus" I merely meant "not correct". ;) EDIT: Since it might take a while for the old poll to be removed, I decided to add the new (more clear) one here. -
Tried that multiple times already but as soon as someone casts a new vote, the old votes are somehow restored aswell. Seems to be a bug in the forum software. Deleting the old poll should fix it, but unfortunately I can't do that myself.

Moved a buttload of "yay Altis" and similar posts to the Altis thread. Altis-related bug reports can still be made here, of course.
-
Ok, the poll thing didn't work for some reason (old votes are not properly removed)... hold on a sec.

Ok, having just done a little bit of correlation work on the poll voters vs. forum posts, it is clear that the poll result is bogus. All of the legitimate reports on this specific issue seem to be from 32bit OS users. (Of course the game still has its other performance problems, but that's a whole different matter.) -
I'm afraid you're right; in fact I just verified this by simply checking votes vs. forum posts related to Altis. Yes, that seems to be the case. I will most likely reset the poll soon with a more clear question and answers.

Yep, I'm afraid you're right, and I could have worded the poll question and answers better. Perhaps it's time for a new poll... ;) -

Good point. Definitely worth trying different allocators. Unclear. Probably not. -
You're talking about "bullet in chamber accounting". I doubt it's going to happen.

Didn't help here; neither did defragging the HDD. My last resort is updating the geforce driver, which is still an old 311.xx on the slower PC. Last thing I'm gonna try before I give up and go to bed. EDIT: No dice. Latest NVIDIA beta driver didn't help, nor did disabling the Steam overlay.

I've just tried a nice battle around the bio domes. Can't complain about the performance either, 40+ FPS even with lots of AI. :) Unfortunately, it's a different matter on my other PC. Out in the ocean it can get about 15FPS if I reduce view distance to 1km, but approach land and it goes down the toilet. I hope they find the source of the issue.

I almost came to the same conclusion, but considering that all of the "no" votes (as of this post) are from people with 64bit systems, I'm not 100% convinced yet. Furthermore, having tested it on two different systems, I can safely say it's not the graphics card. My main rig (see signature) has a GTX 560 TI and runs Altis with no issues, while my second one has a GTX 550 TI and suffers from the ~0 FPS problem. Those two GPUs aren't different enough to explain that. The cause must lie elsewhere. If it's not about 32/64bits, I'd say it's either to do with SSD vs. HDD or perhaps the CPU. (My second rig has an AMD Phenom II X4 965 and no SSD).

@Mobile_Medic, the issue being discussed right now is with the framerate dropping to ~0 FPS on Altis (on some systems), not about general framerate and low CPU/GPU usage issues in the rest of the game. Please read the thread properly and do not twist this into yet another hardware usage discussion.

Added Windows 8, but only with extra options on the yes side. (Because polls only allow 10 options.)
-
Oh yeah, Window 8... forgot about that one.
-
I've added a poll to the thread about the FPS issues and the possible correlation with 32/64bit. I myself have no FPS issues on my main comp (Win7 64bit) but have 0-1 FPS on my second one (Vista 32bit).

And here aswell, because it seems to be unclear: "downloading now" and "gogogo" are considered to be spam. No more of these posts please. EDIT: And yes, that includes responses to those posts.
-
Please no more "downloading now" posts beyond this point please. The world doesn't need a running commentary of your download progress.
-
Quoting for the new page.

Complaining won't make the download appear any faster. Patience is a virtue. ;) Posts deleted.

Discussion from dev branch thread moved here.

I hate to keep having to be "that guy", but this thread is derailing again. If you have suggestions on how to improve the player controls, this is not the place to post or discuss them. EDIT: No worries, I moved the posts over to the wishlist discussion thread. :)

Judging by RiE's post in the dev branch AI thread, things are coming along very nicely. No more running circles around the AI. ;)
-
This sounds pretty amazing, and at the very least it should make it impossible to run circles around the AI when up close. :D I look forward to testing this extensively.

Oooooh, you can never go wrong with AI CQB enhancements. ;) I wonder what they are, considering that they are apparently significant enough to be specifically mentioned.
