    Ahhh, the spell of 'Nam will never let go... still far more interesting than fdf ... Speaking of which, here's a short illustrated story of what FDF would be with unlimited recources (like some army is somewhere ) FDF sissi troop encounter a suspicious encampment and quickly call the whole squad in The rest of the squad taking comfortable posing....erm shooting positions while calling for more backup The troops close in on the target... yes it's hot and steaming... definitely need that backup! The airforce responds immediately by sending out every scrap met... every.... whatev Meanwhile the armoured units heed the call and set out from the weird ass Finnish desert The already airbourne units reach the hot spot first... but what is this? It's a badly cut selection that's what it is...

    Cti- worst thing to happen to ofp

    Whoa, I never knew someone else hated CTI. My view on this is, that playing CTI reduces OFP to being a "closed code shoot-em-up", with which you can only amuse your brain by banging at one single mission that DOES repeat itself just like any "closed code shoot-em-up" would after a year. You can get dozens of these, why use OFP for it? Why ruin it for other people? I've ranted about the above to my team mates for so long now that they've reacted by playing it behind my back Thankfully, that isn't reducing their time so much to play the real thing, coops. I can even pop in and have a few words, I always know when they are playing now heh. Perhaps if we'd play RTS, CTI and it's variants in cycles I wouldn't numb my mind with it. I just know every minute I put into it the less I have put into making something useful for someone else, IE making a good coop mission. That's the biggest thing that hurts me mentally when playing anything by someone else too often. Why Melvin Why!?!?1+11++1

    Yes, I hope you meant me because those were my HEAT rounds. Hawkins didn't eat anyone, but he did try to molest me And then you inserted a few rounds from the T72 MG into me... before blasting Hawkins once with a heat round tho Found one more gem. I was trying to snap another shot with the command view when this weird thing happened. Artak was constantly bugging into the picture... as if he knew... sonovabitch! Cam bugger You can be sure that you'll be confused where the focus of your desktop is when you have that as your background image.

    To prove the man is a mean motherfunker, one pic shall say the words needed: and then he ate them. Hows that for a change. While we are using the very edited material... Finnish special jaegers setting out to sea to seize Shanevo. The weak nerved won't mind to see much blood splatter in that weather... Here began a 1h 14minute odyssey into breaking through a Russian front. After raping partisan ambushes and nicking a local farmers booby trapped truck (did I mention the burning of one friendly troops eyebrows with a molotov coctail? (oh and stealing a btr from fellow russian scouts who lay in the bottom of a river under a bridge)) the squad is waiting for the rest of the company to arrive for the offensive: Suddenly, we are alerted by sound of chopper rotor blades spinning slower and slower and coming closer: Moments later we (5 reservist infantry groups + 1 armoured (T54)) were heading towards the russian front occupied by some 60 russians, 7 gun emplacements, 3 tanks and 2 additional Spets Naz squads.... you can imagine I had no time to take photos. Constant FDF battle ambience for 15 minutes is bad for your ears, gentlemen. But atleast we won Â

    You can watch the telly if you wan't 'WoT'. It's the same as reality shows, Jeesus! I hate them, I truly hate them. Call me a recluse without the will to change, but that's all you see nowadays. What happened to the old fashioned 100% fabricated series?! On to topic... Well same goes. We might be looking at a game where the gun will shoot for the person holding the gun, electronics decide what will be shot, aid you to shoot the helpless person, fighting honorably for his country, from 500m in the dark night with perfect clarity. Disgusting. The only thing that tastes like war is when you yourself have a part to say in it. You have a simple ironsight, co behind you screaming orders when some hundred enemy soldiers creep towards you. F**k I'd take on any US spec op with a ukkopekka and mow them down. All I need to do is to be freaking friends with Scotty so he can beam me behind the guy. Old fashioned warfare is what I wan't to see, it's a way to shed light and educate... Oh and you can go to your nations defence forces/army to play with the modern stuff, if your lucky. No need to make a game out of it.

    Two mp bugs

    I couldn't find any bug list thread, so I just smacked this here. I'd want to know if you are aware of the following and is there going to be a fix... these regard ofp v1.94: 1) MP lobby Param bug: Parameters can't be fractions or they will be 0 if you didn't actually click on one of them. 2) The player can't order AI to pick up magazines, only weapons. (as of 1.94, 1.91 doesn't have this bug). 1 can be solved ofcourse, but 2 is annoying. I don't know if the purpose was to create a way to arm AI fast but now it makes magazine crates futile and a lot of equipment is wasted (and some lives ).

    Textures

    Prolly an exe param like -nofog but I wouldn't go trying, God knows what will happen. The filename is formed out of the 4 corners of the square. So That would be simply t1 in the bottom left and right, ps in top left and right. Or the other way around... heh. So it is what it is and you can't go changing it and making it be the same as in O.pbo. I too come up with huge islands, from 33 to 44 megs so this is an issue. But I fear it's one w/o a solution. You either have to make texture blends similar to ones on existing islands, which would be dull. But even using BIS textures wont satisfy some of us... But happy hunting on this

    Height terrain editing

    To use another value than the initial after working on a project is not wise. Objects like roads react to this somehow, or maybe they don't and therefore size themselves to the grid size value... they were all over the place.

    How terrain erosion works?

    I've only managed to get a sketchy feel of the thing but here's some tips: nGens: 0-128. Since the ofp map square is 128x128m wide (wasn't it ), I presume this is how many smaller plains you fit into it in terrain detail levels... in buldozer the squares show up as rough 50x50, it's totally different ingame. WashCoef: 0-1. The first eroding factor. I use very minimal values, and this has 0.006. Don't know what exactly this does. SedimCoef: 50-300. This factor does very little afaik (with settings I use). I can even use 300 and I don't see any difference. SedimBase: 0-1. Perhaps the most important factor. This determines the hardness of the surface. I use 1 to achieve minimal height alteration. SedimEff: 0-1. Almost same as above afaik. I use 0.9 InitRain: 0-1. The most eroding factor with the last one. I use 0.006 to achieve very round shapes together with the beforementioned settings. SteadyRain: 0-1. Hard to tell the difference between this and the above rain. Might be even harder eroding. I use 0.001. Tick on finalblur and you'll certainly get round shapes, but also lose almost all details you've possibly made into an ASE map. Take into account the area you choose. Selecting also water makes a difference, the coastline might widthraw more inland with it selected. The best way to use terrain erosion is by using it to just smoothen out the whole area at once after importing an ASE. Open up a new image in a photo program. Fill it with black and them paint your island with black and white (white is high). Work on it with Photoshop filters like artistic/smudge stick or similar filter in another program. It adds somewhat natural strokes to the surface.

    Textures always blending?

    I've placed the beton.pac (concrete) as a variant of grass. Now I might have done more wisely huh Now it sounds like your walking on grass unfortunately when your walking on the concrete. Is there a way around this?

    Using multiple pbos

    Sicilian you can type in the .paa filename directly and it'll show it even tho it's not on the list. Atleast shows up in buldozer. I noticed the objects stay in memory when you change from using data3d objects to O objects. Even though I deleted all definitions. Tools/object manager solved this. Just tick off the first option and your set... Vladimir you should give up with the .bat, I gave up them 5 years ago I resorted to filling my D: root with buldozer. Same thing without the frilly .bat.

    Just 2 things, when saying directory you mean drive don't you. Big difference, and now they'll look as ugly as always sigh. 2nd, To be exact, there still isn't a clear answer that solves this post. Think about it: Using multiple pbos. Ok, you provided the directory structure, so how about how to define it in visitor? My guess (at this state we got in Finland we call midsummer-soberness) you can put in tools/project preferences your textures and objects folder. I'm thinking only this way you can get a hold of res objects? Yawn. Relieve me from this stupendous state. Where do I write mah D:\O

Didn't have commander position, just the gunner... so if that's out of the question, let it be. But please try!   My pal used one of these in his time in the army, it's used by the FDF, a must have for all Fin Clans. So what's and where's the latest version? And as this is an open thread for everyones ZU23-2's judging by it's header... I'd like to see what these other 2 (or how many were there) are looking atm.

    oh my f g, that's bad. bad, bad, bad. Like blasphemy (don't complain of da spelling if it's wrong ) I see your a member at OFPEC too, right? well I guess you know about the res repair prob, but is it your prob? If not Then oh my... you can always use the addaction command that enables the player to set the dammage of his car to 0 when his near one of those trucks... Possible but possibly not worth it?

    Help please

    Hi there! That's a bug I think ppl should be aware of over here, in the official forum... you are trying to repair da car with a repair truck from the resistance side, aren't ya? Only in that case you could grab the unofficial fix Tomb from OFPEC made, you can find it atleast there in the addon depot. It's under vehicles, named Resistance Repair Team. Other than that, tell us which version of OF your using so we don't have to be conserned if this is another v.1.75 bug...
