Edited like never before. Say... I don't have a word for this photographic occurrance, but roughly translated from Finnish it would be lensbedbug? You know... I wasn't shooting someone spitting out their lungs

Yup, a smaller than small Maglite Solitaire. Almost too small to light up anything heh. The lighter itself is orange, I don't know if these rip-off-of-torches(9€) come with any kinda filters. Man, your cathedral is evil, along with it's twin. I dunno if I wan't to see more details or anything, it just looms over the viewer in an evil way Â

Yay sprwing Just go on like your fighting... What do I have to do to get a splash? Oh well, they were smarter than me, got my mirror coated with lumps of crap at some point. Love the cathedral GoOB, ominous but still that window tilt is somewhat hilarious Â

    VTE open beta 09-13-05

Hello, and welcome back. I know it has been a while and sh!t has hit the fan a few times since we last met, but I assure you, hang on tight for just a while and you shall see what once was and still is alive and kicking. Something to look forward to: - The Bra island (Leghorn - Route 96 - Binh Tram 37): heavy forestation, extremely harsh terrain, few roads - New bush square, few new bush types and objects - Bugs from last release fixed This will be a patch due in one month. Future plans include completing the islands and perhaps... perhaps... you'll see in the summer.

Okay, I see what you mean. Â The ease of editing makes people lazy when shooting. Â That's when photoshop starts to be used as a crutch instead of an important final stage. Â It's important to pay attention to mistakes, and turn them into useful feedback at the next photo shoot (even if photoshop lets people minimize the mistakes). Â I definitely have this problem. That's pretty much it. What's worse is it will inevitably become a standard anyway for sure to edit and use the software, that's why it's there - why waste it. It's not about effort and skill or intuition or the eye if you got a neat gui everyone can use... to make art? It's so terrible I have an example, every young Fin must know a certain irc-gallery. Practicly everyone has become an artist and has a folder besides self portraits and whatnot drunken photos. Why am I this bitter? It's obvious, and this anti-PS attitude is a reaction to the attrocity of that gallery... But enough of this. Almost didn't even notice Ares' work, great catch there. I wish I'd catch a fire...

Okay, i'll bite :-) Â You would use in-camera processing, but not photoshop? Â It's all software processing either way. Â It just means you are leaving the adjustments up to someone else, who coded the prefab processes: whitebalance, sharpening, colour profiles, etc. Â If you shoot RAW, you get exactly what the CCD recorded, and then you can do it all yourself instead of relying on simplified internal presets. Â It gives you the chance to add a bit more personal vision to the image. And for some general semantics; I say 'reality' is altered as soon as it is recorded - film type or CCD quality, lens distortion, flare, shutter speed, DOF... down to the context of where people see your images. Â The only difference is that photoshop offers so much more control that the inexperienced (i include myself here) can make things ugly really quickly. I admire this guy's work: http://www.markscholey.co.uk/landscapes/landscapes.htm And which reality do you prefer: http://www.pbase.com/hiv/ps_skillz Okay, that's all true, but what I was aiming for was that: If you plan on taking 5 shots of 5 different things with the desire to capture them all in the same lighting conditions/tones but fail and go create the lighting conditions in photoshop, you distort the reality that you just didn't succeed out in the field to create unity. I'm the worst when it comes to that, perhaps 4 of my last 6 abstract'ish photos have some similarities about their qualities, like near unrecognizable shapes due to spanning out of the area. This is a part of reality I want to portray to create a certain unity and reality, not actual factual reality, but a metonymy which would also be achieved by cropping in PS. This isn't really helping with my already unvoluntary compulsory habits, I might go do shots over and over and again just because the horizon got tilted a bit too much and I can't go straighten the photos in any ewww software. shoot me. E: agh, forgot one the or a out of there and now I can't really fit neither in any better than the other... bah.

Actually I was waiting for some smart-behind to point out in-camera processing is always postume work  If my Nikon had more processing options that I listed I'd surely use them. Altho that yellow tone sure beats sepia any given day. B/w would be nice though. Then there would be filters, but that is a matter of €s. I only edit failed photos... or just leave them gathering dust. Or to wait for the odd artistic usage. A single photo shouldn't need it, but a collection, but then what is a collection really if it wasn't achieved by what was at hand when shot... edited to be uniform with other shots alters reality. But this is just my silly dogmatic way of seeing this activity  And to answer with a picture: The insides of anything are worth colour. Just when things were looking good: plumbing renovation with a 15 minute notice at 9am. Ah hell! Â

I like the mood in this, keep up with the same style Also, did you do any color correction in that picture? Iv'e been trying to accomplish that "faded" look in-Camera on my D70, but to no avail. No post processing being the standard for all my work here and on the linky in the sig, here's the settings I changed in the camera. It optimizes it by applying: - no sharpening - high tone compression - moderate saturation - color mode II (AdobeRGB) They say the last one is what makes all the difference, just can't remember if it was that or Ia (sRGB) that achieves the so called D70 look heh. Also the 'shade' whitebalance gives out rather yellow midtones, but can't remember the kelvin value for that. Last but not least, the sun has to help a bit. It's reflecting like crazy out of snow and at sunset, which is at 4pm, dyes my place yellow See my optimism, now that is spring. Not the snow we just got more of today. But, I've always wondered that partial blur of yours, it totally reverses it in my eyes and turns it to fall. The wind being always against you and all that.

Lovely tones Earl and Goob. If I'd have objects or subjects like that I could justify b&w... but even the snow on the 2nd up there would loose it's powderlike quality. I still haven't shot a single picture without power lines, grr.

    Latest Hell's Circus island releases.

Why couldn't you let it die ages ago... You can't possibly deny receiving that last message, no one can. Or *receiving an invite back to the team - disregarded. *the constant denials of further usage of VTE objects before we released them - disregarded. *knowing about copyrights (in the smallest form - owned by author the instant the work has been created) which were always held by the team - disregarded. How about giving me your pinkie? You have as much use for it now as I do for these objects - it just hurts when severed. It's been over half a year and I was ready to hang this as a kitsch artwork on the wall, perhaps try again another day from scratch. It's always more though, you gotta do it yourself once to realize the sentimental value this work gives to the final product. Which never came to be before vultures swooped in. Look at poor Sim, he never got VTE to work, and now your already offering more less reliable solutions. WTG. I'm being easy on you now. I could've waited aeons to post this and let you look behind you back for much longer. That's what I did after that last discussion. Any normal human being would. Oh but do you? Are you at all worried how I might feel about this? Squabble squabble squabble, that's all this is getting you. Why do you want to use our stuff while you got Unsung/CSJ working with perfectly fine material? That's right, you once were with us. Now you think you are us and we are nothing. Sorry to disappoint, but I am not the holy spirit. Altho you once regarded me very high, this is something else. Please, find another area of interest (like I did (a life)), discontinue (ab)using VTE material and have a nice life.

Nope, it's Pori. But I got a bit dislocated too when I saw that today, there's a similar statue in Helsinki surely. Just can't remember if it even reprecents the javelin. I don't even know who this is, perhaps it would've read in the base...
