    Ofp is dead?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Kegetys @ Sep. 29 2002,20:42)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Desloc @ Sep. 29 2002,21:33)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">So what do we play and love? What game offers everything I wanted in OFP as far as online gaming goes? BF 1942... finally there is a game.<span id='postcolor'> Well, if BF1942 is what you wanted, then OFP certainly was the wrong game for you. For me, its the other way around, there is no game out there with multiplayer that would compare to OFP, we have games every day with our squad and its great fun. The main "problem" is that the majority of people just want fast action, not strategic combat which is what OFP is. But there are people who play OFP (like us), you just dont see us playing because we play on our own private server, which is how OFP is the best to be played imo.<span id='postcolor'> I wouldn't say BF1942 doesn't have tactical or even strategic elements... I think the hardcore OFP fans are writing bf1942 off a bit too quick because previous fans (and sites) are turning to it. The nature of warfare did also change significantly between 1942 and 1985.....so it CAN be slightly difficult to compare the realism of the two games in question. The tactics you can employ in BF1942 reflect classic WWII warfare. Not in a naval or perhaps even air power sense, but with armoured support and artillery (ok so its not that realistic but it emphasises the importance of non-frontline support units). The flight models and tank representation aren't terrible either ('sides the aircraft having around 15 times the ordanance that they should have). BF1942 does what it wanted to do VERY well. It's realism isn't perhaps what OFP's is HOWEVER it's MULITPLAYER GAMEPLAY gives it the ability to really go the distance. OFP's questionable AI has been replaced by a human player on the main front, as that what BF1942 is, a multiplayer game. Simply, it's what OFP isn't.....and vice versa.

    Hatred of ofp

Well even the Resistance campaign wasn't anything to write home about......and Red Hammer is roughly 10 times worse! The missions featured in Red Hammer are easily toppled by so many user made examples...which is disgusting when you think about it.......we had to PAY for the shit Codemasters fed us with Red Hammer.. Shame CM SHAME!

    Ofp vs ghost recon

As we all know, Operation Flashpoint is a milestone in PC game design. Its diversity and depth are unsurpassed by any title currently available to date. However, is it the best of its gender? When I first played 'Ghost Recon' by Red Storm Entertainment (I was a big fan of Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear), I was quick to dismiss it due to my obsession with OFP. Then recently I heard of the amazing AI it was supposed to sport, along with some of the best simulated infantry tactics and firefights yet seen in any PC game. So I purchased the recent 'Ghost Recon' pack (that includes Desert Siege).....and I must say...I am impressed. Very much so. The AI does surpass that of OFPs and the atmosphere is better than any I have seen yet........ Though OFP supports far a far better editing (and therefore perhaps greater replayability) capability...and several other aspects as well..... So which is better? If so for what reasons?

    The quality of the resistance

Hey guys we are getting a bit off topic here..... For the 50th time I'm not nit-picking or saying Resistance is totally crap..... All I AM saying is that it is dissapointing to see the effort put into the mission and campaign side of it.... (mainly focusing upon the fact that they use a crappy arty script when they shouldnt be using them at all. I mean if they wanted to use artillery, they should have designed some). I'm just saying that BIS took a step backwards with this......'Cold War Crisis' was far better and professional and brought out the potential of OFP

Yeah well I don't speak Dutch (I'm German)........ Why don't you learn a language correctly before you go spouting all over public forums? I'm just making a valid point..........no need to go 'flaming' it...

    The quality of the resistance

There really isnt much point in buying 'Red Hammer' if you already have 'Resistance'. All you get is the pathetic campaign that comes with it, all the rest is included with 'Resistance'. I am talking $50 Australian by the way which is in the region of $25-30 US.....

Hey....The full game of Operation Flashpoint cost $90...so I would think we could expect a little more than some amateur aspects in a $50 addon (no stupid face)

    The quality of the resistance

Overall, Resistance is a very nice addon pack. The new island Nogova is excellent and original. The new civilian vehicle and military weapon addons also add a great new depth to the game. However in the mission and campaign department, 'Resistance' seems to be severly lacking when compared to the original 'Cold War Crisis' and its additional original single player missions (I'm not going to even compare it to the monstrosity that is 'Red Hammer' ). I know it has a partisan type theme, though all the missions are relatively shallow (although the cutscenes are nice, as you would expect) and don't show any serious effort or surprise. Basically they are surpassed by many user-made missions, which is not really satisfactory when you consider that we have had to pay for these. The main and most dissapointing factor is that 'Resistance' uses amateur-type scripting that has even been outdated by user-editing standards. I couldn't believe it when one of the campaign (and single-mission) missions featured the crappy 'exploding vehicles' atillery script. This has been outdated by over six months in the user-editing community and replaced with far superior cam-create scripts. Why on earth BIS think this is acceptable for a product you pay for is beyond me. I could go on but I won't. It is clear that the only edge that BIS held over the user editor was its ability to construct new islands and vehicle/weapon models and now with that ability in the hands of some very talented individuals, it is clear that 'Resistance' will be the last OFP product BIS manage to sell. I'm am sure that by releasing things like Oxygen and WRPEdit that they never intended to develop anymore anyway, though I'm still think they should have put more effort into the mission/campaign side of 'Resistance'.
