    I can assure you I loved OFP aiming when it came out. Specially taking into account it was the frist big and famous game to include ironsights. The diference is that then it was user friendly and now it sucks. This still about that fast paced, corridor CTF thingy? Learn the game and get over it, raising a rifle and lining up/aiming takes time, everyone knows it... Its clunky, boring and it sucks. And mosty of all will scare a shit load of players not familiarized with such demanding fight sims. In ofp aiming wasnt as ugly as now and that played in favour of the game. So no real reason for you to hang around if you don't like it, right? I understand constructive criticism .... but thats just plain whining. E ive explained all this in many other threads, dont take one apart and base entirely on that. Anyway i dont know why i am waisting time answering you.

    Would you rather take a constant "zoomed in" view that seriously limits your field of view or a constant fisheye effect which prevents from seeing detail you would see at distance in real life then? There's no need for excuses, it's a simple mathematic fact that on an avarage monitor stuff appears way too small compared to real life and on top of that the resolution is usually too coarse to compensate this by sticking your nose right on the display surface. Im awright with that explanation. With what im not ok is with people saying two paragrpahs below that bs choppers and clunky aiming is realistic while eye zooming mode isnt.

    No. I really dont like it. And its nothing to do with bugs, those are fixable. What is not fixable is gameplay. Its clunky, tedious, slooooooow, and not user-friendly. The new aiming system sucks and its far more complicated than OFPS which alongside its slow nature was cool and refreshing. It was a fresh breeze of air in middle of all the quake3 cs and all those games  at the time. Now they´ve surpassed the limits of realism and have given us a game which simply doesnt play well. Yesterday i played multiplayer with like 24 persons and it sucked sooooooooo much. I probably made 6 shots in total... whenever i had someone in my aimpoint i didnt even try to make a single shot because i knew i wouldnt hit him, rifle sway is too much and to hit something you need to invest 3-4 seconds and be in the best position available which eliminates all dynamism from the game. To hit something while moving along the map is quite impossible and i dont say hitting something while running, no no, just moving to one posiition, looking and shooting. Your chances is that you die from someone waiting behind a corner to nail you. In ofp at least you could move much more fluidly and that didnt happen so much. Along with that matter only camperism will succeed in this game and that eliminates a 90% of public to play it. Camperism is good in some percentage, not all of it. I like fight sims that go away from quake or even some battlefield attitudes but this is really gross. Im terribly dissapointed with the game and i dont think it will last very long in my HD, i dont think it will even make it to the first serious patch. I find that people that like this type of gampley  play coops all the way. Well that speaks for itself, coop is a minimum part of internet gameplay which is hardly played at all. Fun is with CTF.s conquest, CTIS and everything else. People play on MP to play against other people, not to play against AI. EDIT: and for all those people that say graphics are cool and as such having high requirements is good on the long run... well, get yourselfs some glasses because these graphics will be outdated in a year or less. OFP in comparison had much better graphics in 2001 than ARMA has in 2006.

    Like i said realism whores will sure enjoy this game. Thats not the point, the point is if this game is too realistic for the overall public. And please dont go dramatic and start taking bunny hoppers cs kiddies into account, no no, i always have in mind a mature general public.

    I have no issues with aim, its niot easy, but its not hard either. I never said its hard. But its veeeeery clunky, slow and painfull. Without scoping yo wont hit a shit unless lucky. If so you have first to lean or prone... that takes 1.5 seconds. Then you have to scope... 0.5 seconds... then you can choose between aiming and shooting , 0.5 seconds or aiming again with second click holding breath tecnique which takes another second untill you shoot. Overall you need between 3-4 seconds to kill something. That kills fast pace action no matter how you look at it. Now, realism whores probably like this a lot... but realism whores are very few and a game that is only played by a few is dead. OFp was great balance between realism and fast acition, it was a fresh breeze of air in the middle of Counter Strike and shit like that ARMA goes beyond that too much. IF OFP lengthened about 4 years i predict Arma wont even make it to its second anniversary. ROFL we're already in the "ArmA is dead" stance? I play planetside since release. Every 2 months on this game, a so called specialist predicts planetside's date of death within half a year. They've never, ever, been right. So excuse me if I take your bet which a rather big pinch of salt Btw, stupid question probably, but why would you have to lean or prone to use your scope? As far as ive played swaying is excessive if you dont prone. if you lean it adjusts a bit but not too many. Even doing a second scope clik it will sway a bit too much if not prone. At least in MP, in SP action is not as frenetic and this is more overlooked. And with all this bullet spray and recoil is big, really big ( again i dont say its unrealistic, but its sure clunky )

    As I said before to you all, give me 40 quid of your money and I'll give you a pile of shite code right now. It will look like ArmA on a ZX81. 5 months from now I will either declare myself bankrupt or give you something amazing. Do you trust me? Of course not. So why should we accept something that's not ready now? Just because BIS released one great program 5 years ago doesn't mean you should all defend them to the hilt when they release a program that is sub-par. I can't believe the guys who are effectively saying love it or leave ArmA... what right do you have to tell us not to complain? For some (not me), that's a week's giro money, a Xmas present... you want that in your stocking as-is?? Whoever is talking about BETA testing is talking out their arse btw, I didn't see BIS start any beta program [edit - that doesn't mean it didn't exist, but if it did, they keep it real quiet]. Internal testing is UAT (user acceptance testing) ... sack the testers  Totally agreed. BIS aced it five years ago. Now they seemed to have listened to realism whores and just like GEorge lucas fucked up his trilogy listening to darthvader pijama fans in freak conventions they have burried their masterpiece with stupid new features and too much realist gameplay.

    PEople are complaining too much about bugs. Welll those are fixable. What doesnt seem fixable is the terrible gameplay and aiming with the new 3d ironsight + aiming technique by holding breathing. Thats what is gonna really kil Arma, not the bugs.

Faulkner - Thanks, im glad that im not the only one who thinks that this arcade zooming stuff doesnt fit to realistic war sim as ArmA. LOL. What makes this funny is people defending stupid new features like difficulty in piloting choppers or aiming being too slow saying its realistic and then making stupid excuses for bionic-eye zooming mode. In ofp that feature was more or less ok, but now... So there arent corridorsa in real life huh?? The thruth is that OFP was perfect for any situation... Arma looks as if now its only perfect for open spaces...

    I havent tested much vehical driving but i guess the fucked up habiliuty theyve demonstrated in choppers, soldier movemente and aiming and airplanes has to be also present in driving. Geez Bis, who the hell have you listened to to fuck up the game the way you have??? My god...

    I only mention MY opinion here: OFP ironsights were great...for 2001. ArmA ironsights are best...for 2006. Sway too much? Hm...not my impression...they actually sway less than in reality. And ArmA and OFP ALWAYS wanted to be as near to a "realistic" simulation as possible (but still keep it playable)...and that is good so. And yes...the hold breath feature is new. I thought at first sight, that it was for swimming and diving  But after a few further thought, I knew what that was meant for...and thought "cool", why not. Again BIS...THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for ArmA.  What you call realism but playable i call it unplayable. With all these gimmecks or whatever theyve fucked up the dynamism OFP could achive in CTFS. This amount of Sway is toooo much for a game.

  18. Campaign subtitles are not in the bin.pbo and language.pbo. The manual patching method only converts the game to English, not the campaign ...And I thought it would be clear by now that I dont share any files, as I wish to ask you  and all others to quit asking about sharing copyrighted files; I wont! Which version of ArmA did you have (English or German), did you get errors while converting? What is in English and what is not? (The campaign subtitles are?? German or Czech?) Czech. Campaing subtitules are not in english. Also in the notebook that goes with the map with the objectives all the info is inczech except for multiplayer maps.

    ironsights in ofp where much better than the ones in arma. The swya is so much you are lucky if you hit a moving target that is near to you.

    I was a real paratrooper for damned near a decade and I never achieved anything near that level of weapons proficiency. In fact, in distance engagements over 50 meters it could take me as much as three seconds to be confident of my shot. CQB using red dot optics are the only situations I can think of where I might have aquired a target, identified the target, and squeezed the trigger in anything approaching a single second. Hell, starting in the prone supported with my eye to the sight it could still take 3 seconds for me to acquire a target at 300 meters, get a good sight picture, and squeeze off a round. Notice that i dont say aywhere that there needs to be confidence in that shot. What im saying is that in ARMA you CANT EVEN TRY THAT SHOT, Cause you HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE DUMMY TO MAKE ALL THE ANIMATION if you want to have a semi-half decent shot Response is far away from what a soldier should be. and im not a  soldier but there are obvious things. For godness sake, the dummy cant even die if he hasnt finish the fecking animation, if you dont believe me just try... go and prone in front of an enemy ai that shots you in the middle of it. Untill your dummy hasnt reached the floor, proned completely and scoped you wont die... So the point is slowness in its actions responding to the players commands. In a game i decide where and when i shoot, but not in arma cause  im totally dependant on the dummy to even have a random shot. Thats not realistic, thats clunky and makes gameplay suck.

    No its not. Amazing was ofp when it came out. This game doesnt reach even the " good game " level. Aside from all the bugs which are fixable gameplay has been reduced to ****. Soldier movement is clunky, unresponsive and unnatural. What in OFP would take you 1.5 seconds to do now it takes 4 seconds therefore CQC battles are just pure fiction. As Posion said in another thread, CTF gameplay is gonna be reduced to nothing. Tested in multiplayer and the experience suck... aiming has turned into a nightmare and again, soldiers animations seem to prime over soldiers needs. And that IS NOT REALISTIC. A real soldier can prone, scope and fire in less than a second if the situation requires it... adrenaline does it job. Its so clunky it feels as you are not in control of the situation and the game dictates what you have to do... amusing anyway. Mention apart are vehicles... they suck, period, jeeps, cars and trucks... there movement is unresponsive in many ways, dinamics about getting in and out are too long and even the horn sucks cause you cant make melodys ( yeah, im serious ) And well helicopters... people can say what they want about realism... this just sucks no matter how you look at it, things that have increased greater in difficulty to search for realism have achieved the opposite... not only unrealistic feature but also gameplay unfriendly experience. I consider someone saying this game is amazing a pure fanboy with no critic value at all, thats it. And im trully sad about this, i haven´t exxperienced yet a game that surpasses flashpoint in fun, quality and multiplayer experience... and looks its gonna continue that way... what a pitty.
  24. Dont try aiming with an FPS <20, its near to impossible If you werent sarcastic: 1680x1050 normal-high details.. v sync on ( no tearing ) and 60 constant FPS. Ive turned it down to the second bar to the left and still feels like that... ( weapon sway looks like a good definition, i may open a thread about this ). The problem is that if you turn that completely to zero the soldier movement gets slow... so you still have " weapon Sway" and your soldier acts even more robotic than at default setting
  25. That's great news! I've fired an Ak-47 many times, there's a lot of recoil that isn't simulated in OFP. I'm glad to hear that it will require more skill to shoot targets. Â Thats not great news... that fucks up the gameply. And Btw, havent even tested the ak... but if with a silenced m4 its difficult just to aim without shooting to a soldier i cant imagine what will it be to shoot with an ak...
