It killed eighty and wounded two hundred, aimed at a Muslim cleric whom they didn’t like and whom they missed. -- Among other demands Washington issued to Pakistan, it also “demanded…the elimination of truck convoys that provide much of the food and other supplies to Afghanistan’s civilian populationâ€â€”the food that is keeping probably millions of people just this side of starvation -- Supporting Turkey’s crushing of its own Kurdish population, for which the Clinton Administration gave the decisive support, 80 percent of the arms, escalating as atrocities increased -- bombing of the El-Shifa pharmaceutical plant in the Sudan, the factory had produced essential and life-saving medicines ,the United States has continued to oppose even the dispatch of a fact-finding mission by the UN Security Council which could easily establish the facts about the production and ownership of the factory. --1980-88: Iran-lraq war. When Iraq invades Iran, the U.S. opposes any Security Council action to condemn the invasion. U.S. removes Iraq from its list of nations supporting terrorism and allows U.S. arms to be transferred to Iraq. U.S. lets Israel provide arms to Iran and in 1985 U.S. provides arms directly (though secretly) to Iran. U.S. provides intelligence information to Iraq. Iraq uses chemical weapons in 1984; U.S. restores diplomatic relations with Iraq. 1987 U.S. sends its navy into the Persian Guff, taking Iraq's side; an aggressive U.S. ship shoots down an Iranian civilian airliner, killing 290. -- When a bomb goes off in a Berlin nightclub, killing two, the U.S. charges that Qaddafi was behind it (possibly true) and conducts major bombing raids in Libya, killing dozens of civilians, including Qaddafi's adopted daughter -- 1984: U.S.-backed rebels in Afghanistan fire on civilian airliner --1949: CIA backs military coup deposing elected government of Syria --1953: CIA helps overthrow the democratically-elected Mossadeq government in Iran (which had nationalized the British oil company) leading to a quarter-century of dictatorial rule by the Shah, Mohammed Reza Pahlevi. --1960s (early): U.S. unsuccessfully attempts assassination of Iraqi leader, Abdul Karim Qassim "If any government sponsors the outlaws and killers of innocents, they have become outlaws and murderers, themselves." george w bush

well jub it appears you may be right about the ak74su.. according to the official kalashnikov site it entered service in 1979 and was intended for paratroopers, spec ops, signal men, and armored crew.. while i still would like to know how widely available it would have been so close to its initial roll out i will concede the point. the submachine gun was not developed originally for tank crews. the first submachine gun (discounting, of course the villar perosa or the m1903 springfield w/ the pedersen device) was the german MP-18, also known as the bergmann. it was developed in WWI to give infantry fighting in close quarters (read: trenches) fully automatic firepower

the realism argument seems rather pointless in this case.. pistols are realistic because A. they exist, B. armed forces issue them to some of their members. i will agree that their utility in OFP is questionable, but they have a place. the xm177 was only really issued to special forces units, it was not issued to pilots or armored crew. armored crew was issued w/ pistols (dont believe me? ill send you a picture of a US issue sholder holster for armored crew) and M3 submachine guns. as far as soviet equipment goes, im not sure. i have seen pictures of soviet crew w/ pistols. i still doubt that soviet crew would have been issued the AK74SU in 1985.. some soviet units had not even been issued the AK74 at that time. the ak74su strikes me as more of a special purpose weapon maybe for paratroopers or spetznaz. if the US is just now phasing out issue of a WWII vintage submachine gun, i doubt that the soviets were passing out brand new weapons to BMP drivers in 1985. plus the interior of a soviet tank is cramped beyond what most westerners would believe, i dont know if theres enough room. like i said, im not sure on the soviet side of things.. any russians w first hand expierience want to chime in? btw i dont think that OFP should have a feature for weilding double pistols. my greatgrandfather did say that his prefered armament for trench combat in WWI was 2 1911s though....

a modern day korean war mod would be great... and an appropriate place for a mlrs.. plus the ROK forces have all kinds of cool gear.. Daewoo assault rifle anyone?

well for realisms sake i think that pistols should be included for machinegunners, officers and vehicle crew, while not practical for most combat situations you could find some use for them.. rifle out of ammo? cap a ruskie w/ your pistol and take his ak.(actually, w most games starting you w/ only 4 magazines i usually trade my M16 for the first ak i can) pistols are a must for the special forces units in the game. a SOCOM would be nice.. and useful. but if were talking realism the helicopter crews should get only pistols and the armoured crew should get M3 grease guns. im not sure what russian crew gets... makarovs? stechkins? probably not ak74su, espescially in 1985

miss_cleo replied to RomanB's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
here is something that miss cleo is confused about... howcome none of the people who are saying that bis is right in not releasing o2 are int this thread saying we are gonna kill OFP by using your tools to make "crappy" addons? -
Miss Cleo says that sometimes a bad addon is better than no addon at all! if someone makes a C130 addon w/ O2 tomorrow and its not the best.... well its still better than the one i have now. if its horrible than Miss Cleo will just delete it. there are many crappy addons out now, but there are some excellent ones too... i reserve the right to choose what i want to play w/ and what i dont. if the tools arent distributed then how will we ever know who cna make good addons and who will make bad ones? are we to trust BIS judgement alone on this? as for the tool being to difficult to use.. i think you are selling the members of this community short.. look at what has been done allready by ourselves, im sure some will figure it out, especially if it includes the ability to import models from #d progs that some may have expierience with. it may be awhile before we get Leopards and Hueys and aircraft carriers or whatever... but if BIS released O@ tomorrow we would have every concievable small arm in a week. rifles arent gonna be that hard to do.. no internals, no animation... Miss Cleo thinks we have the right be given a chance.

MISS CLEO'S PREDICTIONS FOR OXYGEN: here am miss cleo's amazing tarot reading for OFP! 1. oxygen will not be released until after ofp resistance am released. 2. russian editing progs or leaked version of oxygen will surface 3. next official patch will have bugs for both single player or multiplayer games so everyone will download: 4. patch 1.5 or whatever will have code disabling non-bis approved addons. 5. operation vietnam will get the oxygen tool 6. shortly thereafter bis will release something like this: " due to the high quality and dedication of the team at operation vietnam, and the outstanding nature of there work bis has decided to partner with them officially" 7. thus OFP:V becomes a commercial mod 8. your boyfriend is cheating and so are you. there am Miss Cleos predictions for the O2 affair. Miss Cleo would like to see OPFEC post the 3d object featured in romanB's thread so me can vent my anger by dumping my AK into a big box that say Bohemia Interactive.
