I think SABOt and HEAT rounds fired from a cannon move at about the same speed, but I'm fairly certain hand held weapons like the LAW, RPG etc. are significantly slower, just as in real life.

OH YEAH! I hope the resistance get some cool new stuff, like maybe some technicals? (4x4s with all kinds of bizarre weapons tacked on to them).

Damn! I used to love Twilight 2000...ah, I miss the free city of Krakow.... How much has it infuenced OFP? Not very much, I would think...I mean, there are some common themes due to what they are both about, but I think that's about it...

Hinnd's are notoriously hard to kill....usually takes two hits with a LAW or RPG, or one with a Carl Gustav... Machine guns are virtually useless, as are Stingers... My advice is go berserk at it with a LAW (you can't order AI to do this unfortunately), or HIDE!!!

Sure, it might be a fun weapon to use, but then so would a Phaser or maybe the M41A pulse rifle, but both would look a little silly in OFP...

I don't think it should be in the game, since when has any army issued the MM-1 as a front line weapon, let alone back in '85...

Everyone knows boly-action rifles are better for sniping, the only reason they work better in the game is becuse it's just that - a game. Bolt action rifles have less moving parts while firing (not having to rechamber a round) and are therefore generally more accurate. In game, however, the ability to pepper shots at a target in semi-auto is hard to beat. Actual sniping is more of a matter of taking one or two shots, then observing the effects through the scope (or better yet, binocs)... Anyway, it would still be nice to see some bolt action sniper rifles in the game...(M40A1 or Parker-Hale M82 maybe).

I want a Chevvy pickup with a quad-mount of miniguns in back. Oh wait, were talking about what we want in the game!

Is it just me or does FADE only appear in multiplayer sessions? I've played the game with a no CD crack before (no, it's not illegal to have a no CD crack as long as you have an original copy which is only installed on 1 PC), and only ever noticed the FADE message when playing multiplayer... Oh, and for the record I often download no CD cracks for games I have bought, not for illegal purposes but so I can fire a game up at any tme without digging through my cluttered house for the CD...also, I often drag my PC around to friends houses for LAN sessions too, and I don't want to drive for half an hour and then realise "oh shit, I forgot the CD!". I've said it before, and I'll say it again..FADE sucks. I think game designers are getting ridiculous with their protection measures. Just accept that a certain amount of your product is going to be pirated and include it in the sales price {oh wait, you already do that!!!}. Geez, not even hugely expensive packages like MS Office, Visual Studio etc. etc. have the same level of copy protection BS as games do these days. I've gotta stop checking this thread, I just keep getting more pissed off the more I read. Â For the record I'm not an advocate of games piracy, I just get really annoyed when copy protection starts adversely effecting legal owners.

Maybe game developers can have a DNA databank, and you have to go in to their development centre and register via DNA scan, and have a small electrode implanted in the base of your brain that causes blinding pain and paralysis if anyone with different DNA uses your copy of the game. Oh wait, that wouldnt work, someone's clone could still use the game too! I know developers have to copyright their material and protect it, but this whole FADE, serial key, CD detection bullshit has gone too far. I'm starting to miss the days of games that came on floppy disc, you just installed once, and then could play whenever. *sigh* Oh well....

I created a poll about FADE, as opposed to a general thread, to give OFP owners a vote...but the poll was closed about 3 minutes after I created it by Hilandor. Almost makes you think BIS (and their moderators) have something to hide, doesn't it? He said there are already too many threads about FADE, and I agree completely (hell, I even said as much in my poll message!), but it wasn't just another stupid thread, it was a poll to get feedback on how people feel about FADE. That is why I had it as a poll only, so it wouldnt be cluttered up with comments. Is FADE real, and, if so, what does it really do? How does it work? Can it effect a completely legal and legitimate copy of OFP, or is it something only hackers have to deal with? Should legal owners be worried that FADE is going to ruin their game? Mine would be Joint Ops, I think I got it from www.flashpointarena.com (R.I.P.). Great co-op mission with 2 squads, one NATO and one resistance. P.S. Gorgi, if you haven't tried out any 3rd party missions you are missing out bigtime! Some of them are as good or even better than the official BIS missions (of course a lot are also shite, but heck, if you dont like a mission, just delete it!) P.P.S. I just took a look at "How Not to Be Seen", I laughed so hard I farted! (I'm a huge Python fan)

I successfully completed that demo mission by cheating a little (well, not following the plan anyway). I stole a jeep, found an RPG soldier and wasted him, took his launcher, then drove up to the where the tank reinforcements came from. I used a few hit and run strikes on the tanks (& BMP), which got 'em all pissed off, and looking for me. They wasted so much time trying to hunt me down that the rest of my squad (AI) successfully held the town! Made a pleasant change from making it to the evac chopper and then getting blown outta the sky by the Shilka

I dunno, I always find I get better hit % using an M21 than SVD...

All I want is a definitive BIS release stating what will and will not trigger FADE, and if triggered, EXACTLY what the effects will be (not just some nebulous offhand remark about "degradation"). I'm sure legit owners out there, who have put their hard earned cash into buying a copy of OFP, would like to see this release. I know I sure would. It would end this FADE debate once and for all.
