    Avgani Iraq 1.2

Or download someone else's MP mission made for this version of the map. I'm at the university right now, but I can't wait to download this map as so far it's been my favorite so far for ArmA. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  2. Ah...that's the problem. We didn't model it and we don't have a weapons modeller expert...although one of our members *might* be able to handle that. We are using Vilas's weapons pack. So unless he makes those for us, then we're stuck just with what you see in those pics along with a folding stock version. But speaking of not very realistic stuff... Here's a screenshot of a fictional Syrian TU-22M carpet bombing American forces. We have it currently dropping 10 bombs at a time with a total of 60 FAB-100's (along with two cruise missiles). It was simply too awesome of a model to let it go to waste. I know Gnat is working on the updating the standard Russian version made by Footmunch (which ours is also based off) so I'm sure his version will be a million times better. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  3. Yes, however it will be our 80's units that will be getting the Galil rifles of various types. Â The 60's and 70's units however will have Uzis as standard. However to keep the size of the pack managable I can't make tons of different unit types like we did for the modern IDF otherwise the historic infantry pack alone would be over 1 gig in size. Some news... I revamped the historic infantry and replaced US ammo pouches with more approriate canvas ammo pouches. Â I also made those pouches and the webgear tan as was common in the 60's and early 70's. Â Also Jewish Freak changed the colors of the uniform back to the modern green color as apparently this was standardized since 1968. 80's units will have ephods and the current kevlar helmets with a few units using the PASGT style vests like what our modern Hezbollah commandos are using (which are often old ex-IDF body armor given to the Lebanese Army ending up in Hezbollah usage). Vilas' addons

Looks almost like a SCAR rifle. The SCAR is one rifle I would kill to see in ArmA for use by special ops units and mercs. But along the 80's theme, one important weapon that has been missing is the good ol' rifle grenade. They came standard in OFP, but sadly were missing in ArmA. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

    FFN MOD

Hey Tony how ya doing! Â Awesme work on this mod! I just tried it with my mod (Lost Brothers) to see if everything worked and aside from the bugs mentioned, all of the animations and advanced AI stuff seems to be working very nicely. Â It blew me away to see the suppressive fire actually working!!! Â Rather then battles lasting only a few minutues, now large battles last a long time with the tide of the battle shifting as both sides move, fire, and then take cover until eventually either one side outflanks the other or a few brave soldiers charge forward and grenade/shoot enough enemy soldiers to break a stalemate. Â It was amaazing to see one of my IDF soldiers do this against Hezbollah soldiers in a heavy battle... as the enemy fire focused on this one soldier.... suddenlly the other IDF soldiers behind him got up and ran forward following him as he had disrupted the enemy suppressive fire giving them a chance to move forward. This one soldier basically turned the tide of the battle. So things like that are really amazing. Â I'm looking forward to studying your mod some more to see if I can get the other options working with my mod as so far it is amazing. Really the only animation I don't like is the low walk where you are in the kneeling position and slowly walk in a low position. Â In real life, it is extremely difficult to walk and aim a rifle like that and I've never seen soldiers do that. It just looks a bit wierd in the game. Â But really that is just a minor issue and not a big deal as the rest of the great animations make up for that. So it doesn't bother me if that animation stays. Â At any rate, if I find anymore bugs not already mentioned I'll let you know. Â But so far what you have done is simply outstanding and really brings the game to life. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  6. Classic 70's era IDF in action. Â Part of our upcoming Historic Pack. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  7. It looks real nice, except that the IDF/IAF doesn't use the AH1Z unfortunately. However for those who would like to use it please feel free to release it as your own addon because I know some people would like to use it. We have a AH-1S conversion from OFP with specular/normal mapping but it has a few bugs that we haven't been able to figure out how to solve. But it also is a shitty model. Â We're waiting for SFC.ITZHAK to send us a better AH-1S model. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  8. Thanks Blazer. They look great. Good job. Here's a nice T-62 that we are working on: Syrian T-62's" Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

    Project RACS

I don't know why people keep saying that.  Are people blind? BIS made RACS with almost entirely American equipment so there is nothing wrong with giving them American planes. Granted some nations like Egypt use a mixture of European and American Aircraft, but generally most countries use Either European aircraft, American aircraft, or Eastern European aircraft rather then mixing.  With that said, I agree with the RACS mod in making a mixture as it gives mission makers the option of choosing what they want to include in missions.  The more choices the better.  So it's all good. Personally I like all the planes regardless of who makes them.  Nothing like blasting exocets into ships. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> this is exclusively a matter of personal taste. i prefer a RAC army with only european weapons to add some variety to the game, its a little repetitive if we have the same weapons for all parts in the game, so i decided to build a rac army with west european weapons , a usa army with american weapons , and a SLA army with russian and east european weapons . But you can build your game as you wish  Fair enough. That's why I don't mind the diversity the RACS mods makes in weapons. But I also am a big supporter of European mods so that we have more diversity in weapons. I really hope more people help out with the BWMod for example. That mod is too awesome to allow to die. The OFrP mod has always done a great job and I look forward to more of their releases...although I hope that they allow other mods to use some of their models used by tons of countries like the Gazelle and Puma helicopters and some of their Mirages. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  10. Negative I still need to work on that. Honestly I haven't looked into it yet... I kinda forgot about that but it may be due to custom ammo types or something. But hopefully that can be sorted out at least for belt-fed machine guns. The M50 and other Shermans are no longer used and haven't been used for a long time. So yeah these are for our historic pack. Likewise the Centurion tank will be for a historic pack (with blazer and non blazer armor versions). On the Egyptian side we will have T-34's and T-54/55 tanks. Now the M3 halftrack I hear rumors of some still being mothballed but kept ready for action in any war. I'm not sure if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me as they were solid vehicles. But then again so is the M113. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  11. The Shermies are now in-game. Go Shermies! Yay! Below is a pic of an up-gunned M-50 Isherman. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Wld427- Sorry I haven't tested everything extensively...I've been so busy with my own mod that I haven't had much time to test anthing else even though I downloaded all your mod's stuff. I'll try give them a good combat test this evening. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

    VopSound

There are a few sounds that are amazing and some that are WAAAy off. Â Example the US 5-ton truck (that I used to drive in the Army), the M113, etc... Â Â Â However the T-72 sounds very cool, although I'm not sure if it's quite accurate. Â The BMP likewise sounds excellent and very realistic to the BMP's I've heard in real life. Â It's just that some of the sounds sound more like YouTube videos (with hit and miss sound quality) rather then the actual sounds. Â If you combined the most realistic of these sounds with the most realistic of FROMZ's sounds I think you'd have a winner. Â It's a bit overwhelming with all these sound packs that right now I tend to stick with FROMZ as overall it has the best combat ambiance that I've heard so far (although still is far from perfect). Â Â I'm an ex-US Army Reservist so keep that in mind, but I do have alot of familiarity with certain vehicle and weapon sounds...when I hear something close, it instantly provokes memories of those weapons or vehicles. Â So yeah it sucks picking the best of all these. Â I would recommend all of your sound mod people get together with a group of active duty U.S. Combat Veterans (and Russian, Czech, Polish, etc.. Veterans) to figure out which sounds are the most authentic for an ultimate sound pack. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

    SJB Submachinegun Pack

Hmmm  on the pics of the HK MP variants on that ArmedAssault.info page, the weapons look...well a bit... un-detailed....very uncharacteristic of Jackal's work.  http://www.armedassault.info/ftp/pics/addons/sbj_sbg2.jpg Jackal, I know you are a phenomenal weapon creator as you helped my mod out in OFP with excellent weapons.  I have yet to try out the pack (downloading now) but I hope that the bland textures are just temporary and will be updated with more detail.  Compare the merc pics with BI weapons (I'm assuming) with the above pic link to see what I'm talking about.  But maybe that pic was taken and by accident a lower LOD showed up?  Dunno...I'll see for sure when I test it I guess.  Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

    Vilas' addons

Yeah they did but only starting in the late 70's from what info I gathered. At any rate, at least the Col 1911 looks a bit like an HP pistol. An HP pistol would be a nice addition to the pack however. Just for fun often I like using pistols in CQB in ArmA. A few times I actually HAD to use them when my ammo ran out and I was pinned down and couldn't get to a dead corpse. Â I hunkered down and let the AI come running over to me..did a double tap as they ran next to me..and knocked off 5 of them until some smart AI got the clever idea of lobbing a grenade on me. LOL! Vilas' addons

Yeah they get like that when they start getting old and faded. I have several sets of German Army uniforms and a light jacket in that cammo pattern. Â The newer ones are quite red looking while my older ones that were heavily used look more greenish. Excellent uniforms overall..very tough and comfortable. Vilas- Â Those tanks look amazing as do the G-3's. Â It'll be good to see some West/East German forces in the Project 85 Mod. Â By the way, I've made the first version of the LoBo Historic pack that I'm testing right now and have put to good use tons of your weapons from your weapons pack. Â I'm arming the 70's IDF with FN-FAL and 80's IDF with the Galils arming 80's IDF (Since the Galil was not issued until mid 70's and the FN-FAL was the primary rifle of the Yom Kippur War in 1973). Â However the Galil was the standard battle rifle during the 1982 Lebanon Invasion (along with some M16A1's and CAR-15's). So far I just have Golani and Paratroopers with medics, tank crews, and a few other soldiers armed with your standard Uzi carbines. Â I could find out what pistol they used back then so I just issued them with your Colt 1911 .45 pistol. Â Paratroopers are outfitted with your LAW-22 and Golani were given your basic RPG-7. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  17. Honestly I've just been lazy and haven't looked hard to find the tutorials on how to make blood textures show up. Â I know it has to do with rvmats and stuff...which I know something about. Â So hopefully I'll get less lazy and fix that. Â But, actually I'm not so much lazy...I've just been more interested in working on NEW addons rather then blood textures. Â hehehe. Â But I really need to fix that. Â No promises, but hopefully either myself or one of our mod team members will fix that. Yeah the Hezbollah are my favorite OPFOR. Â SLA sucks, Hezbollah makes me scared and are more heavily armed (and smarter) so I feel MUCH more happy if I defeat a superior # of Hezbollah soldiers. Â It is just more satisfying. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  18. New M151/M4A1 Recoiless Rifle conversion from our OFP pack (Thanks to John Ka). I also made a seperate version for our historic IDF pack that we are working on. However I didn't take a screen shot with those units because I'm still working on getting them all configured. At any rate so far progress is good thanks to help from many different addon makers. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  19. As far as the Mig-15 goes, Iran, no. Â Syria, I believe so but it might have been the Mig-17. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  20. I would do it but I suck at doing configs and model.cfg's. I tried to do that for our blackhawks and failed miserably. I wanted to customize the model and a refueling probe to one version, but I never could get the configs to work as I was never to sure what stuff to delete and what stuff to keep from the config.cpp and the model.cfg files. So if he doesn't figure it out, if anyone can help him that would be awesome. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

    1st Infantry Division

They all look pretty much the same to me. lol! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  23. Isaac refers to the son of the prophet Abraham (Ibrahim in Islam) from whom the Jews descend from. Â Ishmael refers to the other son of Abraham from whom Arabs are supposed to descend from. Â Because of this both Jews and Arabs are considered originally to be "semitic" people very closely related. Â Even Hebrew is basically a form of Arabic with Arabic being the older language according to most linguists. So culturally, linguistically, and genetically, Jews and Arabs are essentially brothers. Â As far as our Hezbollah guys, not all of them have backpacks. Â However our commandos and sappers mainly have backpacks because they look much more like the commandos in Hezbollah combat videos with the backpacks on. Â The elite Hezbollah units generally wear PASGT type body armor with loads of ammo on the them. Â The combination makes them look puffed up as a PASGT is much larger then the more streamlined body armor used by the IDF. However while thicker and bulkier, the PASGT is not as heavy or as good as the vests worn by the IDF who use smaller kevlar vests with ceramic plates on the front and back. Â If you watch YouTube videos of Hezbollah in action you'll see many of them wearing identical gear to what we have on our models. Â They use either older French made helmets or more modern Israeli kevlar helmets originally given to the Lebanese National Army. Â Many were also captured from stockpiles of the SLA (South Lebanese Army) after the 2000 Israeli pull-out from Lebanon (along with many Israeli made PASGT vests). Â Â Overall however our Hezbollah units are meant to look "armed to the teeth" carrying a wide array of weapons, ammo, and explosives. Â Â Because they do not have significant armor or air power, I wanted them to look as close as possible to the most elite Hezbollah units. Â That way players playing as the IDF would have a real challenge compared to just fighting regular ol' BI SLA units. Â LOL! Â Wigon
  24. Looks very good so far. By the way did you lose the Magach 6 in your HD crash? Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  25. (Moved from the last page) A few of our addons have normal/specular mapping. Â Hopefully as we get better at that, we'll start adding more such improvements to addons. Â Here is an example of a wonderful Mk2 upgrade that modEmMaik did for us. Â The Mk2 will be in our next update with the bug fixes and a few other new goodies. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
