    FFN MOD

I actually like it that they are wounded on SP missions. I haven't tried it yet, but can you heal the wounded guys rolling around? I tried healing an captured wounded enemy guy but it didn't work as my medic refused to go heal him even when he was standing right next to him. I also noticed that you can't use mines or satchel charges unless the soldier you are using is a spec ops class. It's not a big deal...just something I noticed. One thing that I just noticed however that was just AMAZING is that now even armored units behave a lot more intelligently now. I could have sworn that they were practicing "bounding overwatch" techniques where some units in a platoon stayed back while others moved forward, attacked, and then were relieved by the units in back of them that were grouped together with them in the mission editor. It was unexpected but very nice! By the way, do the stryker crews now carry AT weapons? I could have sworn I saw some of them get out of a dammaged vehicle and fire AT rockets at enemy tanks. But maybe it was just some of the infantry from the town that came out to assist them or who had climbed into the vehicle for some reason. lol I can't wait to see what new updates you will have. Also personally the heavy breathing of the wounded doesn't bother me too much. In real life they would be screaming, crying, or groaning...which would be a bit more disturbing. That would probably give players PTSD if suddenly the guy next to him gets hit and lets out a blood-curdling scream of pain or if you had dozens of groaning and screaming injured all around you who won't shut up. Vilas' addons

The combat identification panels were developed after the Gulf War. So yea, they're only really for modern vehicles The CIP appears 'cold' when viewed through a thermal imaging system (i.e a tank gunsight) so aid in the identification of friendly vehicles by giving them a big square that contrasts with the appearance of the rest of the vehicle through TI sights. Edit:- I forgot to mention that there is a shadow bug underneath the rear, aperture part of the FAL's ironsights. It appears as a small dark square that can bee seen through the rest of the weapon, and the soldier. IIRC it affects all your FAL variants apart from the one with the scope. Wierd, I never noticed this bug testing all of the variants including his new IMI FAL's. But then again, as a former soldier, I don't really look at small bugs and just care if whether I can aquire, get a bead and accurately shoot the target which I can with the FAL's. But I guess any small bug fixes are nice, but I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if it was something horribly wrong. If you're talking about in 3rd person view, I've never noticed anything wrong and all the screenshots I took of the weapons look pretty good to me. However, I'll look again to see if I can see what you're talking about. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

    Avgani Iraq 1.2

I agree that it is definitely the top Middle Eastern map in ArmA so far. Â I've lived and travelled in the Middle East and I just get chills walking around on this map. Â I can almost smell the flinty dusty smell of the desert. The wheat fields however gives it an altogether different feel in those sections. Â Much more like Lebanon. Â I would KILL to see you make a nice Lebanon map as your textures and objects are spot on perfect for that region (which is very difficult to simulate in ArmA). I tried my mod with IDF vs. Hezbollah using your island and the FFN Mod and it was outstanding. The IDF defended the firebase and had massive numbers of Hezbollah attacking from all directions. It was so eerie seeing them move stealthily through the wheat fields. During the battle they surged back and forth often popping up out of nowhere as your terrain offers many wonderful little dips and gullies that allow for excellent cover. With the FFN mod, the AI take full advantage of this and of the rocks and ruined buildings scattered around. This results in excellent pitched battles. The only bug is that occasionally an AI manages to walk though the walls of the Sykes (sp?) compound. But that happens very rarely. What is more common is that if you get close to the wall, the enemy AI start shooting at the compound wall. lol Also noticably missing is some type of airbase. An Airbase would definitely nicely round out the map. But even if one isn't built, its still an exceptional map with tremendous mission making potential and excellent frame rates. Â I took this pic of some of my mod's 1970's IDF units in your wheat fields as it looked very much like Lebanon: Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  4. These objects are truly works of art!!! The old Orthodox churches are so incredibly beautiful! This definitely adds a lot of depth and atmosphere to the game!!! One of the better addons I've seen in awhile. I wish we saw more of these types of addons that map makers and mission makers can use. I hope in the future to also see Russian/Balkans Muslim Sufi mosques/lodges. They would be good for Chechnya maps. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  5. The Syrian pack update will be a standalone release. Shortly after that we'll release an update pack with bug fixes and new stuff. Our historic pack is also almost ready but we're just waiting on permissions and bug fixes on a few things. I also need to put together a mission for the pack. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  6. Yeah I might add Givati in the 80's units as they are standard units in the modern IDF and were the first to receive the new Tavor rifles as standard issue. Golani however is a standard as are the paratroopers. It's the Sayeret that are a bit tricky as they all have interesting roles that they played. I wish we had some working canine addons as dogs played an important role int he 80's and today. If things go well, hopefully Vilas or someone else will help us develop rifle grenades to make things more realistic. I'm just not sure if it's possible without a tremendous amount of scripting as ArmA did not make it a standard part of the game engine as far as I know. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  7. Well the fact that they weren't black probably tipped them off that they weren't Ugandans. Â lol! Â The mass exodus of Ethipian Jews didn't occur until much later. Â From what I understand only the lead team was dressed as Ugandans, however I could be wrong. Â Whatever the case, there are so few pictures of the event (with most documentaries showing them in standard IDF gear) that it probably doesn't matter too much especially since it would probably next to impossible to find a high quality Ugandan camo texture pattern from that era. Â lol! Â I kinda like the white overalls though used in the Isotope operation. Â hehehe. Â I'm sure I could use such units for a "Airport hostage rescue" fictional mission. Â Mainly we decided to do MATKAL for the 60's, 70's, and maybe 80's era as they have been one of the dominant Sayeret units in IDF history. Â But with the 80's era we might do another unit. Â We're not quite sure. Â We can't show all the different SF IDF units because the pack would be well over 2 gigs if we did that. Â So we're trying to keep stuff narrowed down. Â I know that the Golani brigade has always been a key player so they are a standard. Â I just need to do a bit more historical research to see who the main players were in the SF units for the 1968, 1973, and 1982 conflicts. At any rate, here is our Golani 1970's units. Â Note that they aren't much different then other IDF units as IDF uniforms were standaridzed in 1968. Â Only a few small differences differentiate them from the paratroopers and Sayeret MATKAL. Below is an old pic of our Syrian SF units for those who haven't tried the Syrian pack. Â We'll mainly be adding new aircraft and a new T-72 with ERA. Â If we're lucky we'll add a T-62 or T-55 but they need alot of work. Â *** Note the nose on the guy on the right. Â I did a hell of alot of model experimenting to get that nose just right. Â I'm quite proud of that beautiful semetic nose. Â It is a nose that any Jew or Arab can be proud of. Â My AK74SU: Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  8. Yeah, the Sayeret MATKAL guys all have sidearms and goggles (based on pics I found of them in action in 1973). Also their M1 helmets have paratrooper chinstraps rather then standard chin straps. Other then that however they have standard IDF uniforms. I'm still trying to verify whether or not they wear the paratroopers boots since they are airborne qualified. So I might have to change their boots. Also there will be MATKAL units with silencers on them. For Operation Isotope it would be easy to make some MATKAL units with the white mechanics overalls, however that would be fairly useless as we have no civilian airplane models that you can enter and position AI terrorists inside. For Entebbe as far as I know they didn't wear any different uniforms however I'm not for certain about that. If they did and you have any good pics let me know. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  9. Thanks! Yeah our old Iran/Iraq map that we made for OFP was sadly never used by any mission maker aside from myself. It was an incredible map with a vast range of terrain and beautiful cities. It would kick ass to see it converted into ArmA....or even better having the Lebanon map converted in ArmA. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  10. Yes we are doing Iranian forces, however priority is with the Syrians (modern and historic) at the moment and our historic IDF pack as well. Â We are also developing our Egyptian modern and historic infantry pack to go with the historic Egyptian and Syrian armor we have in-game (but with some bugs) at the moment. Â The modern Syrian pack update is top priority and is next in-line for release. Â As you can see from the pics above by Namman2, they are just about complete and only need a few minor fixes. Â Below is a picture of some of our newest IDF historic units wearing Winter jackets and using the latest IMI FAL made for us by Vilas. Â You can't see it but the jackets they are wearing also have a hood on it. Here's another shot of these units from another angle: Other pics of Sayeret Matkal (1970's) in action: Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

I agree a sample mission would be great for this addon. That way the Rhino system can be fully utilized by many mission makers. Thanks! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  12. Hi, the fix was for the config of the tank, so every thing know work fine.Turret, tracks, dampers, hatches, proxies... ok, the tracks are working fine now and the model is ok too is there other updates coming ? for the interior and is there planned to use an other gunsight and commander sight ? butt all of that is is an great mod .just good to see an other carrier transport  Only if someone else picks this version up and further develops it.  The textures are what need the most work as far as adding dirt, mud, scratches, etc.. to the textures and fixing the stretched textures on the turret side.  However for the woodland texture version I liked the original texture most and hope that someone will keep that texture for the woodland version. It just has the issue with the transparent textures as they were OFP ports. Anyone is welcome to improve it, but please let me know if you are working on it, so that I can tell anyone else who may be working on it so that possible you can work together on improving it.  Otherwise there's going to be a ton of different versions that all will have the same class names and thus screw each other up in any MP missions. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  13. Oh... sorry about this... the last version I posted had some errors on the tracks. Now also the commander can look around. Updated version: http://www.idfsquad.com/downloads/milesteg/kll_aavp7a1Ver3.7z Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  14. The standard Uzi, yes, has been totally withdrawn from service. However the Mini and Micro Uzis are still used quite a bit by a wide variety of IDF commando (sayeret) teams including S-13, Sayeret MATKAL, and others. One of my mod team members has membership to the Isayeret.com website where they have tons of recent pictures of these units using the micro and mini uzis. It basically the only SMG that the IDF use aside from the Colt 9mm variant. However with that said it is in very limited use due to the short range and low penetration power of the 9mm power. However for hostage rescue that is ideal if you don't want over-penetration of the target assuming the target/s are not wearing body armor. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  15. Here is an updated version of Kikill's version by John Ka. However it should be known that these versions still need plenty of work and at the moment I perfer the original woodland texture as it had more detail. Â But Kikill's release was meant for others to work on as far as further improving the textures. Â I wanted to post John Ka's updated version as it includes several improvents including working dampers on the wheels. Â So if anyone can do further improvements please knock yourself out but let me know if you can so I can inform others who might want to work with you on improving it. http://www.idfsquad.com/downloads/milesteg/kll_aavp7a1Ver2.7z Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  16. Yeah, that's what I figured about the Uzi. Still it's quite amazing that the Israelis used the little Uzi so effectively in a wide variety of combat against opponents armed with superior infantry weaponry. I guess that is more a testament to the fighting skills and agressiveness of the Israeli soldiers. Still from I understand, the Uzi is an extremely reliable weapon on par with the Ak47 in that regard. I guess now with more and more Arab forces using body armor, the Uzi is now more of a backup weapon or for hostage rescue missions in which the mini or micro uzi provides the ultimate in compact firepower if the terrorists are not protected by body armor. It would be interesting if they developed a more powerful caliber Uzi using subsonic rounds similar to the Russian AS VAL 9mm rounds capable of penetrating soft body armor. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  17. Yeah, I rarely see pictures of the wooden-stock Uzis in the pictures from the 1968 and 73 Wars. Â I know they existed and sure it wouldn't hurt having some as they do look kinda cool. Â It's really amazing I think how the little Uzi really held its own against AK-47 equipped opponents in short range combat. Makes me wonder if the IDF developed some tactics at using the Uzi in engagements beyond 100 meters (and whether the Uzi was effective past 100 meters). I wish the IDF still used the standard Uzi, but I guess the mini and micro-uzis are just about as effective but in a much smaller package. Â Still I imagine the longer barrel of the standard Uzi gave it a bit more velocity, accuracy, stability, and range. I have an actual IMI mini-uzi here at home that was converted to an airsoft gun (my brother left it with me). Â I must say that the weight, balance, and overall comfort of the weapon is quite nice. Â I really want to get a real one now as I really like the sights on it and the layout of safeties, magazine release, and other features. Â It feels llike it would be a very accurate weapon to fire in CQB and much more comfortable then the HK MP5 I've shot. Â It also has a nice little muzzle brake that's not easily seen in photographs that is designed to keep muzzle rise down. Â Overall a beautifully designed weapon. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  18. Awesome! Â Thanks Vilas. Â Oh...Vilas, could you stick a support version with a slightly thicker barrel and a bipod in the pack as well? Â Should just take a few minutes to do that. Your IMI FAL looks beautiful! It really looks SPOT ON!!! I still need to test what you sent me but have just been at school all day long and get home and barely have time to eat, post a bit and then go to sleep waking up early the next morning. Â But as soon as I get a chance to I will test out the packs you sent me. Â I'm just worried about them conflicting with the old weapons pack as I still am using those for the Russian weapons and US weapons that we use on the IDF. Â But I can test the IDF weapons in a seperate addons folder and just manually place them onto units in the mission editor for testing purposes. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  19. Yup, Namman is working on updating the Mig-27's. It keeps Footmunch's original bomb view script as well which is quite cool. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  20. Yeah in our upcomimg bug fix/new addon pack I'm going to include the fixed version of that mission. It's a simple fix though. You just have to dePBO it and remove the missing object from the list of addons in the mission.sqm file then either stick it int your User/Missions folder in your Windows/Documents directory (and play around with it in the editor) or PBO it again and stick it back into your missions folder. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  21. Oops...double post...darn forum was acting wierd and didn't show my first reply.
  22. Cool glad you liked that. That is actually courtesy of Mr. Simmons and his excellent tool pack that released a long time ago for ArmA. We used it unmodified and with his readme's in the pack. Did you check out the YAMAM units with the ballistics shields? Granted they need a little work on the transparency issues on the textures (I need to find a tutorial to fix that). Also the we use the smoke grenades and beacons from that pack. The smoke grenades actually block the AI view so you can actually use them to cover your movements across streets. The ladders are nice cuz they can allow you access to rooftops otherwise not available to you. In MP games expecially this becomes a major advantage. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  23. Yeah I know you can't see it well but basically it's all tan with Syrian markings until we can find good reference pics for the Syrian cammo that we can later add to it. But yeah it's fully working and armed to the teeth. Flys very well and can do a good bit of air-to-air combat as well as it carries a couple of IR AA missiles on it. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
  24. Actually in one of the Osprey books on the IDF they show Sayeret MATKAL units with FAL's that have folding stocks along with I pics of some paratroopers with it. EDIT- Â Ooops...nevermind... the picture was of a galil...from the angle it was taken it looked like a FN-FAL para variant. So ok...then two versions. Â The support version with the bipod and heavy barrel should be simple if hopefully Vilas (or if he's busy someone else) can help to create an Israeli FN-FAL. AAN - ArmA Navy

Wow! Carrier Command! That's a blast from the past! The funny thing is that even with the ancient vector graphics, that old game is still a blast to play and had some really advanced features like the virus bombs, robot construction units, long range telemetry pods, cruise missiles, etc... It's a shame that nobody had made a massively updated Carrier Command II. But with Gnat's excellent work (and that of others as well) we have one aircraft carrier in the game and we got some cool ship missile stuff from Mando's scripts. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
