TALIBAN! TALIBAN! TALIBAN!!!

Question.... does anyone have a SPG-9 model to spare? Â I'm going to add a shoulder-launched SPG-9 to the weapons pack as this is generally how the Taliban use the weapon. Â It's a cool weapon so I'm hoping someone can spare a model/textures for me to use and to configure as a shoulder launched weapon. The Afghan National Army (ANA) in this pack will also use it as they use it in real life as well. I've been told that there was an unused SPG-9 in OFP somewhere that I vaguely remember although I don't know if it was textured. If anyone knows what folder that's in or if they have the model/textures, please let me know. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -
Again it may or may not work depending on where the ship is placed. As in OFP, this command over water is affected by the underwater terrain beneath it. At least this has been my experience. For anyone having trouble simply adjust the height (the last number in that init box script) and it'll work. Just remove the quote marks at the very beginning and end. It should be: this setpos [getpos this select 0, getpos this select 1, 10] To Gnat: Overall fantastic job. Thanks for finally releasing these great ships and bringing the OHP from OFP into ArmA. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe putting a few windows into the cargo section of the KA-27 and maybe like someone else said, making an armed version with either torpedoes or for shore-suppression using rocket pods. But I'm really glad that you added the KA-27 as it really makes the Russian frigates more complete and useful in missions as now I can land Spetsnaz from these ships while they deliver fire support against shore defenses and provide air cover with its SAM's. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Did you try adjusting the height (the last number)? You must adjust this depending on where the ship is in the water. It's just some wierd issue with game engine. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Yeah, that's just the LOD's. Â I can keep the vest and stuff on the later LOD's but really I think it's only the last LOD that removes all of the outer clothes... if your computer is switching over to that last LOD very quickly (within a short distance), then that may be due to your computer's specs. I suppose it won't kill things I if put back the vest and skirt thingy on the last LOD...but I have to ask what your specs are on your computer. Personally I made these guys mainly as targets as their brand of Islam makes me want to puke. Â I've been around plenty of awesome Muslims who walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Â Taliban/Deobandi/Salafi theology is insane and literal in interpretation to the absolute extreme much like the early Kharajites (who were wiped out by early Muslims). Â So part of my goal of making these guys is to make educational missions and videos to put on youtube showing why their theology is destined to fail and why it doesn't have to be that way for them. Â I actually really like Afghanis. Â They are proud and noble people... but damn they are stubborn and tribalistic sometimes. Â I think much of what they do is out of some misguided sense of honor (very different from the Western understanding of "honor") that they confuse with religion at times. New pickup trucks by  jfk15 with nice proxies that simulate Taliban trucks.  There will be two Toyota Hilux trucks and one Datsun pickup modified by him.  I may also include a pickup with Katusha (sp?) rockets originally meant for our Hezbollah forces.  Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -

YacieK, it is clear now... Landdon, the reason we don't have any females is because we don't have an expert soldier-modeller who can make a custom female in a burkha for us. That would take ALOT of work. Getting all the selection names and stuff right is very difficult tedious work aside from doing all the model and texture work. I'm hoping that a talented addon maker will perhaps volunteer to do that for us. That would be cool. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -

True...but Israel isn't the major battleground area I'm worried about.... the Sinai or Lebanon are the primary areas. Even if you can't get border areas of Israel into the map, I'd still be super thankful if you managed to make any kind of Lebanon or Sinai map. As you know I regard you (Opteryx) as THE TOP map maker in ArmA. Anything you do, I use because its so damn good. I think you'd love Chris Death's Middle East buildings that he made for us. He made them for LoBo first but for the community at large as well. So even if they are used for Iraq/Iran, etc... maps they would still be put to good use. So PM me if you want all those objects and I can start getting them sorted out and packed. As long as Chris Death is credited everything's cool. He's a great guy and sadly his object packs in OFP were always under-utilized. Some of his objects were also modified by Calm Terror like our enterable mosque. When you enter and look up, there is a beautiful ornate domed ceiling. Stuff like that really adds atmosphere in any Middle East map. So let me know if you're interested. I trust you 100% that you will use them to the benefit of the entire community. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<Gd. -

New updated textures by YacieK!!!!!  This is a Tadjik Taliban.   YacieK is DA MAN!!!!   The next update will include these improved textures/models, additional models, and ANA (Afghant National Army) forces. This pack is just getting better and better.  Now we just need map makers to step up to the plate and update Catshit's Afghan map or perhaps convert some of the excellent Afghan maps made for OFP, into ArmA.  LoBo is also looking for ANYONE interested in making Sinai and/or Lebanon maps for us.  Only hardcore professional map makers please.  We have a ton of Middle Eastern buildings by Chris Death that we are in the process of converting  This will provide a goldmine of excellent Middle East buildings for Middle East map makers.  Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -

Muchos Gracias mi amigo William. Â I'll make sure to include that (and the new Afghan National Army [ANA] troop classnames in the next update's readme. There will also be an ANA pickup with an MG on it courtesy of Vixer. Â May Allah guide the ANA to victory (if they kick out those corrupt bastards in the Karzai admin...smells like Vietnam all over again). Â We need a tiger team to identify the best damn leader in the ANA to size things up and take over. Â Kicking who ever's asses need to be kicked (with our help) and giving the ANA troops a heroic Islamic hero to follow who lays down the law (based upon the spirit of the Shariat) and who is dynamic in his personality.... a soldier's leader who sits down and eats with his troops and who lives in a tent or similar spartan accomidations like their prophet Mohammed. The new Afghan leader really needs to be Shaykh/military commander. Â Â Pakistan needs to tell the Northwestern Frontier Provinces that they are no longer part of Pakistan. Â Frack'em. Â That will clear the way for a NATO invasion. Â Give them their own little country and everything will be made much easier. The proverbial line in the sand will be drawn. Appoint an Islamic leader to head NATO (like from Turkey) and NATO will gain massive credentials. If NATO was smart they would allow Turkey to re-establish the Caliphate. (That would steal the thunder from Al-Qaeda). Â The Turkish followers of Shaykh Fetullah Gulen (the most popular Shaykh in Turkey who lives under FBI protection in Pennslyvania) are well prepared for this and have been growing in power in America, Europe, and in Turkey. I know these people personally and I trust them 100% as I've lived with them and worked with them on education issues and poverty issues in America. Â They are TRUE Muslims who are nothing like these idiots in Afghanistan. Â Â The true Jihad is the non-violent Jihad (struggle) against poverty and the extreme-abuses of capitalism... something all of humanity can relate to in these difficult economic times. Â It's very easy tell apart the good Muslims from the bad Muslims.....the good ones are the ones with compassion, forgiveness, and love for humanity and Allah in their heart. The bad ones are the ones who preach nothing but hatred and violence against all non-believers (including Muslims who don't agree with them). It's as simple as that. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -

In Islam, really devout Muslims want to do EVERYTHING that their prophet did exactly how he did it. They want to dress like him, look like him, and behave like him. This is called following "Sunnah". So because there were accounts that he put henna in his beard (a common ancient practice) then they do the same. Same deal with having a beard and having your pant legs stop above the ankle. Often there were practical or just cultural reasons for doing these things back then but that is not important to them. But anyways, back on topic... I mainly just wanted to post on here that I'm working now on VXR's ANA guys who are coming out well and should be ready soon. They'll be part of a updated version of this pack. It is banned...because of all the anti-BIS signs beng put up by neo-Marxist (Pro-SLA supporters) and right wing neo-fascists/anarchocapitalists. I am sorry...you can not put up such signs.... it is wrong. Â Freedom of speech stops here. Â Â Nah, I'm just lidding...was wonderng when I could put up my Jihadist "DIE INFIDEL" signs myself. Â (joking...joking) Â Seriously, it would be good to see this addon posted back up somewhere. Â I'd like to see more funny signs like fake billboard advertisements for "Kalishnikov- the people's gun" and amusing things like that. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -
I agree with Thunderbird84. If you made your FFN mod seperated into independent "blocks" that were not dependent on each other, it would make things easier for you, for players, and for mods. But regardless for right now....I hope the new version is excellent. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Nah, if you check out that link and look at the link that was posted, it's the Pakistani Army that's doing the running. Those Wahhabi idiots take everything literally when it comes to Hadiths or anything in the Qur'an...well unless it doesn't agree with their extremist interpretations. It's funny that they wear tennis shoes... if they were smart, they'd wear combat boots or at least hiking boots in order to prevent ankle injuries in that rocky terrain. It would be cool to make the Al-Qaeda Shadow Army Brigade 055 troops. I might include them in the pack but I'm not sure if I'll manage to get tennis shoes on them. That'll be trickier. That would be very cool, but it would require mixed animations to be used for the proxies and a new pickup model added as right now I'm just using straight BIS vehicles. The pickup wouldn't be too much of a problem. The animations however would be as I don't how to put mixed animations on a vehicle. If someone wanted to help me with that I could definitely try doing that. It might be fun. But I'm glad you're enjoying them. Yeah I purposefully made them also on the resistance side so that they could be used on Afghan-Russian War missions since they look the same now as they did in the 80's and with pretty much the same weapons. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -
Hmm... Â it may not be the armor that I noticed then... Â because I saw two SA-7 missiles blow up in close proxmity to the Kiowa (which would have caused the ACE AH-1 Cobra to go into a tailspin). Â For now maybe keep the armor how it is. Â I'd rather not see it get shot down as easy as the little bird (which is just waaaay to easy to shoot down). Â It's always pissed me off seeing the AH-6 and MH-6 last all of 40 seconds before getting shot down almost every time. Sometimes they'd get lucky and be able to make a second pass, but usually they never survive long enough to make a 3rd or 4th pass if there are alot of enemy fighters. As for the MG issue... yeah that's a tough one. Â I guess you already did what I was thinking of trying. Â I really hope someone can help fix that issue. Â Also you might ask the Mapfacts people about using their FLIR system that they use in their Apaches. Â That would REALLY kick ass if the Kiowa had that on it. Â It does alot to enhance the feeling of realism. At any rate, it's awesome seeing the Little Bird circling overhead on the Avgani map as U.S. Army and Iraqi Army guys move down the streets searching for insurgents. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

This is definitely a helicopter that WAS REALLY NEEDED!!! Â It has seen a tremendous amount of combat in Iraq and is perfect for hunter/killer missions or emergency air support missions. Â Ok...so far I've only tested the XEH version. Â What I'm confused is why there are two versions. Â Shouldn't the XEH version work fine by itself also??? At any rate, I did not get any errors flying the helicopter or in the gunner position. Â I also put the helicopter into combat against my Taliban (with me playing one of the Taliban guys) and likewise did not see any error messages. On the issue of the rotor sound, I did not hear any significant distortion. Â They sounded pretty much how I remembered the Kiowa's sounding like in real life. Â My only BIG BIG beef with this helicopter is that the MG turns 380 degrees. Â Please figure out how to lock the MG in a forward position. Â I really hope that this is possible. Maybe I'll have a look at the config and see if I can figure something out. Â Let me know if I can help you on that. Oh also, when you look straight down through the ball-mounted FLIR you can see through the roof of the helicopter and the gunner has no head. Â lol. Â So you might limit how far the FLIR/laser can move up and down just a little bit. Aside from that, the only other problem I had was that the helicopter is tremendously armored (more then the BIS AH-1). Â Since its so lightly armed, I guess its not a big deal, plus in real life, they stay in the air quite a bit longer then in ArmA (that goes for all helicopters in general). But armor levels are up to you guys to decide. Â Overall I find it a lovely little helicopter and I really hope that the MG can be locked into a forward position. Â I'm looking forward to the next version of this excellent conversion!!! Â OH and GREAT JOB Vektorboson/EddyD on the textures. Â Beautiful work! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

The Lost Brother's Mod: IDF Infantry Ver. 4
miles teg replied to Jewish-Freak's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The order should be as follows: The Lost Brothers Mod Addon Pack #3 Lebanon Ver. 1.3 and Sinai Ver. 1.5 Map Pack Arab Insurgent/Civilian Pack Version 1.0 Iran/Iraq Map Pack 73 Easting Map Pack Iranian Addon Pack Download links for the above can be found at: http://www.thelostbrothers.com/addons.php Aside from that there was also the Syrian and Jordanian addon pack for OFP (requiring Addon pack #3) which is at: http://www.idfsquad.com/downloa....r01.rar All of these need the BAS3 pack which can be downloaded at: http://www.idfsquad.com/downloads/milesteg/BASJAM3.7z Oh and of coarse then there's the pack above in this thread. It was basically just some unreleased IDF guys that Heyal had made for us that never got released until now. Those guys formed part of the LoBo IDF guys in ArmA. At any rate, Addon Pack #3 is the heart of it all. That is the big mama pack that you need while the Sinai and Lebanon maps are our main maps. I hope that helps. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -
A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!

If I have to and if I have time and space (neighbors might call the police if I do that outside), I can video tape myself with my CAR-15, PASGT helmet, and PASGT body armor, transitioning to different positions in the prone. Â In a heavy firefight where you are stuck in an open area, you might not be able to transition to different directions quickly due to the level of fire coming at you. Â However it's rediculous when you have enemy AI swarming your position and you can't turn around quickly to shoot some guy who snuck up right next to you without standing up and getting shot from all directions. And yes, I've used the movement keys to turn. Â Also keep in mind that not all of us play MP matches. Â Myself I don't have time for long MP games and play almost exclusively SP games. Â In SP games you can not always control whether the AI stick by your flank especially when you are not the squad leader. Â Furthermore often the AI has very slow response times or just ignores an enemy AI right next to them. After thinking a bit... a good compromise might be just to at least speed up the turn ratio a tad as I know alot of work went into those prone turning animations. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -
A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!
miles teg replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Aint that the truth  Yes, I was extremely puzzled and dissappointed with the new prone system...... at first. It obviously is more 'realistic' compared to the old break-dance turns, but I was by now extremely used to it. Not being able to do it anymore *will* for me take some time getting used to. As a former soldier, I'd like to add that personally I DO NOT find the new prone position turning realistic in anyway or form. In real life if you see an enemy to your side it DOES NOT take that long to face him. Normally in one movement you can raise your body off the ground and swing your legs in the opposite direction before then aiming at the new target. You can also roll on your back, sit up, and lay back down in the new direction. These animations are not in ArmA and would be difficult to implement. However, the current system, even while using the left/right arrow keys, is MUCH too slow and cumbersome. It's gotten me killed MANY times in the game. Overall that feature just makes the game much more frustrating and not as enjoyable. Let me repeat again, this is NOT realistic and NOT how soldiers change directions in the prone position in real life. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -
A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!
miles teg replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
If I could just mention one little idea... Â the Desert M2A2 Bradley with ERA released awhile back might be a good compromise as it is a heavily modified version of Vilas's M2A2 and does not directly compete against the 80's era Bradley in the Vilas mod. Â I was actually surprised that version was not used (with Vilas's permission) as it matches the M1A2 TUSK much better as it is a very modern version of the Bradley. Anyways...I just wanted to mention that and I hope ACE and Vilas can work something out. Â If worse comes to worse, someone will just have to convert the BIS M2A2 in OFP over to ArmA. Â It takes a bit of work, but nothing impossible. I converted an AAV7 to ArmA, so if an idiot like me can do it, then I'm sure that the talented people at ACE can do it. So everyone needs to relax. Â Give Vilas the respect he deserves (he helps TONS of mods including my own) and if him and ACE can't come to an agreement, I'm sure ACE can fix up the BIS OFP M2 model with rvmats and other additions. Â Not too difficult. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> -
Oh wow, the OPFOR is looking extremely nice. Very detailed, high quality work. Yeah Vilas has been having alot of problems also recently with misunderstandings with mods that didn't realize they could not allow other mods/addon makers affiliated with them to use Vilas's MLOD's. He's a good guy though but he just gets stressed out easily so don't pressure him too much. Yeah, we my mod has a C130. However it's not ours to give out unfortunately. PM me for more info regarding that. The Philippine Military uses the M113 also correct? That would be a good all-purpose APC to give them... and probably better for jungle environments. An F-5 definitely would be nice for air support along with the Hueys and Cobras. Yeah, definitely contact me as soon as one of the jungle island maps is playable and I'll start making a good mission or two for you. It takes me a long time to make a solid mission so I can't make more then two. But those I make will be good. Also I'm not sure if you're from the Philippines or not, but any voice recordings you can make for the troops (and/or OPFOR) would be great. I'd recommend using the script I used on my Taliban to make the OPFOR (assuming they are Islamic insurgents) yell "Allah'u Akbar!" when they fire RPG's and satchel charges. You will have to edit the voices however to remove the pashtun and other Arabic phrases. However you can also use the same script for the Philippine military forces so that they yell stuff in the most common Philippino language (when they fire AT rockets, M203, or satchel charge). Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
