  3. I would like to improve dynamic range of the image in OA 1.61 using new tone mapping method. It is possible to experiment with it in 93616 already. The goal is not to dramatically change the game visual output or style but still get improved contrast with better use of available dynamic range. I believe this is very close to the final values I hope to include in future game iterations as default: This way resulting image histogram is better but overall it is very close to what it was before. Slightly related is proposed slight increase of sensitivity during low light conditions (night): Again, it is not massive change but more fine tuning. Few other commands you may be interested in: Filmic tone mapping is quite impressive but imagery is very different to what is in Arma so far. Also, its characteristics are somehow limited for all purpose use, but may be quite nice for some specific usage (e.g. cut scenes).

Please place requiredSecureId=1; to your server config to help us testing this system and read http://www.bistudio.com/english/company/developers-blog for more detailed information. Please note that this system is ready for many betas now but only recently all player ids are properly recognized and entire infrastructure running.

    Please check your account at store.bistudio.com, section My Games and you should be able to see your key there in case you do not have the email. Of course, we sincerely apologise for the situation and are prepared to support our supporters the best we can and we will try to justify the situation. We understimated the demand unfortunately and our server went down very fast.

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

    We know there are customers like yourselves. It is not correct assumption we are not putting customers in first place any more. We had to make some tough choices here and despite it may not be easily visible, we simply do not see any other feasible way for our company at the moment than focusing on Steam as the sole platform for Arma 3 and our other upcoming PC games. We are aware of some negative consequences but this the best we can do concerning Arma 3 and games beyond. We tried to be as open as possible about this tough decision and tried to clearly say what our reasons are.
  7. We would like to introduce a new initiative aimed at improving Arma 2 Experience. In a nutshell, result of this initiative should be small addon with various fixes and tweaks in existing game configuration files that can become part of the official distribution of the game. There are few key things necessary in order to make this initiative succesful and possible so if you are interested in participating please make sure to read more detailed overview below. Few key points: * only fixes of obvious bugs or missing definitions are within the scope of this initiative * all submitted changes must be under a license that allows Bohemia Interactive to freely include and distribute it * changes must not break any of the existing official missions and campaigns * kju is going to coordinate and submit resulting addon to Bohemia Interactive for final review

    Secure ID progress

    Not really needed in the latest beta as this is now the default settings (so no difference if it is there or not, you can use 0 or 2 if you want no or full secure id level).

  10. I hope we release 1.63 this year. This current beta already seems very solid so we should be hopefully only weeks away from final 1.63 release (the only important feature that is not finished properly and is on our must list for 1.63 is secure id).
  11. I think there are multiple endings in the story driven campaign (well, in a sense there are multiple endings also in the strategy game mode :)
  12. My colleagues and I were shocked when we found out about the detention of our co-workers and friends, Martin Pezlar and Ivan Buchta, on the Greek island of Lemnos. Everybody who knows them realizes that they’re not spies and certainly never intended to threaten Greek national security. The guys visited the island as tourists. Their trip to Lemnos was personal, organized via travel agent, with the single goal of experiencing the place that had inspired the virtual environments of Arma 3, a computer game that they’ve been working on over the past two years. Our company has never gathered orcollected any restricted information, such as photos or blueprints of military installations of any nation, nor have we ever tasked anybody else to do it on our behalf. We always respect the law and we develop all of our products using publicly available materials only - Arma 3 is no exception. According to media sources, the Greek ministry of National Defence actually examined our game, after local authorities raised this topic. They assured that the game is fine. Originally planned for release in autumn of this year, it is based upon a fictional future, set in 2035. The whole incident is a terrible personal tragedy for Ivan, Martin and their families; I believe it to be no more than a deep misunderstanding, one which will be swiftly explained. I’m ready to support the guys and their families in these difficult times as much as I can.

    This is true. We prefer this topic not to be discussed on our forums atm, at least until we know more specific details about the case so I am going to close this topic and our moderators are going to close any related dicussion here, thank you for understanding.

    Why do not yourself and your communities simply use older version of the software for time being until latest Linux server executable is stabilized? In any case, if we decide to not include Linux server at all in our future updates and games we have all rights to do so. In any case at the moment we simply could not release the Linux server 1.62 for various internal reasons but it is not the first nor it is the last time when Linux server is significantly delayed behind the main Windows code and your complaint is not going to change anything about it. It is not perfect but delaying 1.62 for Linux server would be the only other feasible option but damage caused by such move would be much bigger. Also, if you expect Arma 3 Linux servers to come always aligned with the Windows servers, please stand corrected: this is very unlikely to be the case. It is expected that Linux server may be usually delayed, if it is big issue for you, I suggest you to either not use Linux servers for Arma 3 or not use Arma 3 as we simply are not able to guarantee Linux servers to be released at the same time as its Windows counterpart.
  16. Arma Community: NeverHappyTM. You are right, it sometimes (often :p feels that way. World is not perfect, we are not perfect. But in this case we are certainly trying to do the best for everyone involved, our company, Arma user base, DayZ user base. We really could not simply wait and see but we had to make important decisions and move ahead the best we can. In any case, this is great news, one of the biggest (if not the bigest) announcement Bohemia Interactive ever released and it is early to come up with conclusions what impact on Arma 3 or Bohemia Interactive in general it is going to have.

  20. The filtering of Dayz works only with both servers and clients updated to 95310. It probably should be easier for 3rd party launchers to filter it in similar manner from this build as well.

  23. The OFP1 AI drivers have been driving on the rails, literally. In Arma 2 it is all much more dynamic. However, if you really do some effort in testing it you can see massive improvement from Arma 2 as shown on the video from 2009 and current shape of OA. If there is a driving problem, a CIT ticket with clear reproducible steps is best way to tell us about it and let us check if it could be improved.
