  1. good topic and some valid points, but nr. 4 needs some qualification: not all rl-weapons have a so called bolt-catch. the ak-series of weapons has no such bolt-catch, so the bolt carrier after a shot moves always forward and locks the chamber. that is why you have to manually charge the weapon again after inserting a fresh mag. as you are probably aware, in the case of the m4/16 and g36 you only slap the bolt release, and while going back forward and locking the chamber the movement of the bolt-carrier will also load a fresh round in the chamber. btw, RHS AKs for ArmA or the Robert Hammer AKs for example have an animated bolt-carrier.

    after playing quite a while and getting used to 1.09b i just want to add a few things: - despite the better performance, especially in wooded terrain the lods are to "close". in convoy ambush it is possible that you see a truck roughly 50m away in it's 3rd(?) lod, with square shaped tyres. that`s not good. a user definable lod and shadow lod setting like in opf (gold) would be nice. - also i appreciate the beefed up armor, i think its overdone for the m113/m163. i may be wrong, but i always thought they are designed only to withstand small arms fire, and not multiple hits from a 30mm ka-50 cannon firing he. on the other hand, now switching between he and ap is also necessary for the m113. maybee it's not that bad...

    since in 1.09b the .50 cal gunners still don't fire at the ka-50, i also think that this mission ist quite easy. also, with the reduced hearing capability of the ai even with the truerangeai-mod it is now very easy to completely surprise the base. (it was nearly impossible to surprise the first m163 in 1.08) the only real threat, as stated by maddmatt, are the 2 m163's (of which i almost never saw the second be boarded by its crew btw). you cannot lock onto them (as on the strykers an) if they are not boarded, so in a surpise raid you have to rely on your rockets. as soon as the vehicle(s) are manned you can lock your vickr's onto them, but then it might be already to late because the 20mm vulcan packs quite a punch. i edited the config of the ka-50 to crewvulnerable=1 to make the .50 cals fire on me in all missions, and *then* things get hairy. in the alligator mission even the trucks and the humvee from the convoy open fire at you, and you have to fly really low and use the terrain. quite fun imho. i wonder why bis does not fix this...
