Even better buy would be the HD 4850.
  2. Heh, not yet. I might post two or three sample, FLIR-enabled models with a version of Mapfact's FLIR script that has WHOT/BHOT modes in a week or so. Depends on how long it takes me to clean up some of the problems it has. It'll probably still have problems when I post it, but eh... There's some interesting possibilities as well -- it's possible to edit and script a vehicle so the engine area turns slightly white when the engine is turned on. You could script it so that it uses higher gradient white textures over time, thus simulating a build up of heat. Ed : On a side note, does anyone know of a way to apply one model to every unit in the game (and have them animate in synch) without editing their individual models? Is it any close to release already?

Seems to be an opinion you hold, only favouring OFP2 instead of ArmA2 No.

That's a quite bad choice on the gfx card, but otherwise it seems ok. You could have gotten Antec Sonata III with 500W PSU and a HD4850 for gfx card.

Yes, judging only by some pre-alpha shots you can determine which game will be better.

    The Dreaded Lock-UP

It won't help, it might remove artifacts for a while but it will lock up. Only nvidia could fix the problem, but they aren't fixing anything. Hmm... I don't think we've determined with absolute proof that this is a Nvidia issue. I and some others only have this lock up with ArmA and no other game. Yes, it is in arma only, I had it in ArmA only and everyone having nvidia card has it in arma only. nVidia doesn't care about some no-name game like ArmA, so it is like this. Everoyne I know having this lockup in arma only, have gotten rid of the problem when changing to a radeon, including myself. It is a definite problem in nvidia drivers. It is an ArmA 1.14 problem. Period. "In terms of stability, performance and gameplay, ARMA is now a distinctly superior game to the initial release. " (Marek Spanel, Bohemia Interactive). Hogwash. I can run the same mission 10 times in 1.08 with NO freezes or crashes. In 1.14 that mission (as well as others that I use binocs or scopes alot) causes the game to freeze or crash after a period of time 4 times or more out of 10. Blame nvidia all you want. Won't do a damn bit of good because they are not going to fix something that is not their problem. Face it: BI is done with ArmA I and we just have to eat it. Blame bis all you want. The problem lies in nvidia drivers. Or how would you explain that ArmA no more crashes, not even a single crash, with HD48xx cards, when it did crash like you mentioned with nvidia cards? Even when the other hardware is exactly same, but when the GPU is changed to an AMD one, the problem just disappears. If the problem is because of bis, how the hell does it work 100% stable with ati cards, but not nvidia? HOW? Simple - nvidia drivers are buggy as hell. Quite obvious you are an ATI Fan Boy and nothing more. 100% stable with ATI cards? LMFAO you dolt. Same nvidia driver same mission same rig: 1.08=No crashes. 1.14=Crash-O-Matic. Go away you ATI troll. I'm just pointing out the facts, and you as a nvidia fanboy just can't take the fact that the problem is in nvidia drivers.

yes it's called CGI or renders. In general the video looked good cept..runnign with the gun aimed..ugh, well hopefully accuracy falls substantially in that case. No... it is paused gameplay with camera roaming around showing how it exactly looks, not CGI.

The menu is console menu, and just by looking at the movements of the character you can clearly see it's played with a controller.

The same scenes as in pics look much more better in this vid, and the graphics do look better than ArmA 2, just watch: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/256748.html

That was very unimpressive, I'm very disappointed. What's the deal with the GIGANTIC gun obscuring 40% of you FoV? No free aim? No Free view? It's gameplay from the console version, free aim was disabled for OFP: Elite also if you don't remember. And that's just pre alpha anyways, a lot of stuff will be changed.

That's just awesome, 15 minutes of pure ingame footage, it looks much better than what we've seen so far. 35km viewdistance... wonder how it'll run.

The part when he drives the tank in a forest... the trees still fall similar to OFP and ArmA. Just a random direction and a bad animation. And why does the tank turn black before explosion?

    New ArmA II Pictures!

Still it looks like half of the turret is cut off. Why don't they do a proper model?

What's up with the abrams? Looks like a flattened model and the turret is having weird curves on the sides. It looks nothing like this, for example:

Everything looks suberb, even better than OFP2 but that's just looks. I hope that controls/mouse input will be at least as responsible as OFP did. It'd be perfect and a definite buy for me. It's the gameplay that counts, and ArmA's gameplay sucked compared to OFP. I have a bad feeling It's going to be another arma failure. At least not enabling the damn vsync by default would help a lot. It makes game unplayable with most LCD screens.

Yep same for me. It's better to be a normal grunt than some special sf razor team that eliminates everything bla bla stuff. You don't get that ofp feeling with that. You need to be a normal grunt in a warzone just trying to survive.

Still the crappy Abrams model. It's like a flat version of the real. And weird curves on the turret, shouldn't it be straight?
